Hey guys!

Saw the linkback on my blog, and decided to come register at your forum.

Thanks for checking out my stuff. Here's a recent article I did overclocking my Phenom II 1090T X6 under dry ice. There is also a video of the run!

welcome bro..
checking ur HWbot profile..and all submission is AMD..  (and gigabyte  blush.gif  )
u only clock AMD? mind to share anything u got? kekekek

I am an AMD guy I must admit. Intel performs better at the same clocks....but having virtually no walls when extreme cooling Phenom II is enticing. I like the underdog smile.gif And I also love gigabyte boards. Very sturdy, and do the best under extreme conditions.
Mostly everything is on my blog
Going to get into some liquid nitrogen soon!

welcome onboard mate, never expected to see u here since lyn barely known in xs...  smile.gif

nice result especially on d ram, 7-9-6 @ > 2k is very2 impressive considerin it was done on non asus board. ya board is d newer rev?  hmm.gif

gotta luv d mushkin, must be some premium psc chippies residin inside those sticks eh? great job...  thumbup.gif
Thanks man. My board is actually not a new rev. Rev 2.0 UD5. To get 2000MHz+ on on the UD7 you need rev 2.1 which is odd...
Yeah they are great sticks but there are better out there. I need a set that will do 6-6-6 @ 1800MHz

woot, that makes ya oc even better coz gigabyte boards of late usually clock ram better on latter rev.  thumbup.gif yeah, read bout d ud7 rev. 2.1 in xs too, chew mentioned that, didn't he?  nod.gif

time to get a pair of super talent? elpida hyper ftw...  flex.gif
*
Yep. Chew was actually kind of confused that the rev 2.0 of the UD5 would clock better than the Rev 2.0 UD7 when I told him.

Yeah if I could find some hypers then the game is on thumbup.gif

Also wanted to share this with you guys. Found this contest and thought some of you guys would wanna enter.

Right now it's one Phenom II X6 an hour until 6AM.

You need a Twitter account. Tweet a deal you find online with the #AMDdeals hash tag and you are entered to win, up to 5 per price period.

I made it as easy as possible for the late night DIY crowd to win.

Right now it looks like pretty good odds for the procs and helps everyone find deals.

Have fun! Go win something!

ud5 clocks ram better than older rev ud7? hmm... logically, it shouldn't be this way... tongue.gif

where r u located mate? sadly super talent is not easily available in our region, we can only place our hopes on adata 1866 & dom gt rev 2.x which d latter bein better clocker from what i remember. sad.gif

thanks for sharing... thumbup.gif

i got something to share here too... a contest @ vrz...

AMD Wprime 32M Contest! Win Radeon HD 6800 Series and more!

i'm not really good in benchin but heck, no harm tryin rite... laugh.gif

p/s: anyone who win d contest due to this notice must donate d ntuc vouchers won to me so that i can spend 'em for my grocery... tongue.gif

Thats what I said.... it didn't make much sense. But it worked all the same. biggrin.gif So I'm having fun with high ram speeds on this board. I'm in Canada, so sadly its hard to find good ram around here too... although I could order from new egg

yeah.. eventho intel performs better, i prefer AMD cuz it cheap.. change few HW wont cost u an entire salary.. plus i dont need those speed.. just having some fun with low profile HW tweaking..
u got any secret tweaks in order to push ur ram high?  brows.gif  brows.gif
like "this must always stays below"
"this need to loosen, and this thigh better"  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif
me never good at tweaking and benchmarking..plus a x2 wont stand a chance..  laugh.gif
Ram OCing really depends on the type of ram you have. I dont really have any other tweaks than what I have posted in my guide. Just get a feel for your memory and try some stuff out.

gotta agree giga make solid boards thou, their build quality is d best, at least to me. if they can further improve d ram overclockability on low-mid range boards, it's not that hard to choose. sw wise they're a tad behind asus (turbo-v) but giga boards always work well w/ aod especially d high end ones.  rclxms.gif

Canada is not that far from d states so it's more accessible for u if compared to our region. if newegg is just few clicks away for me, i'll eat bread for breakfast, lunch, dinner & even supper...  laugh.gif
Canada still gets crappier prices and less choice of hardware then the states though. But it is pretty accessible if you know where to shop.

Giga tends to work great with benchmarking and ram overclocking (the high end ones, I used to have 790FX, and now this 890FXA) THey work excellent for what I do.

And here's something I did last night:

http://slappablog.wordpress.com/2010/11/27...-stock-cooling/

Thought my board died tonight. Eventually got it back up and running and chew* inspired me to do a 3DMark06 run on the stock cooler. Here it is:

As you can see this is on the stock AMD cooler only.

And here is my 3DMark06 result

Thanks man. Well it is a pretty cool temperature...which nets the advantage smile.gif It gets even colder in Canada too. One day I will overclock on -25C

temperature apart, it's never easy to run a thuban @ that kind clock 3d stable, cpu test of 06 is kinda sensitive to cpu stability from what i noticed.  hmm.gif

btw, if i was to choose, i'd prefer to stay in Canada instead of the States.  nod.gif
*
Yeah 06 stresses the cpu pretty hard. I can probably do 4500MHz with a bit more voltage.
Canada is better living standard wise than the states, but LN2 and dry ice is expensive here sad.gif

woot... looks like u got a silver (if not golden) chip there. 4.5GHz 3d benchable is superb...  drool.gif

if breakin world record is not needed, u just need winter/autumn season to churn out decent results.  tongue.gif

*
Yeah this chip is pretty decent. I had a dream last night that I picked out a golden chip (week 21or week 15 chip) haha

it's not decent, it's definitely better than that.  thumbup.gif

ermm... my chip is of week 21, so it's my hand that turned a golden chip into shitty chip?  cry.gif

joke aside, what's d batch of yas? mine is 1021EPMW.  smile.gif
*
Not too sure, i've seen other chips doing way better on higher temps too.

mine is 1018EPAW

Sometimes you get variations, but some from week 21 and week 15 are really good that i've seen

Hey guys

Taking advantage of winter, I just broke 5GHz with cold air on my 1090T.

Enjoy

Thanks, I am privileged to live in a country that sees winter. Sometimes we get -25C temps.

QUOTE(ah_khoo @ Dec 5 2010, 06:56 PM)
impressive as always mate... 5GHz on air, that's really something. great chip u have there...  thumbup.gif
Thanks dude. It's just another average retail chip I assure you. Remember this took -4C temps on the cpu which need -15C ambients.

I was really surprised to see what these lovely sticks did today. This is the Mushkin Ridgeback 1600MHz 6-8-6-24 kit. On AMD, it is extremely difficult to run any ram above 2000MHz. Well today I broke a personal record and clocked these sticks all the way up to 2240MHz 8-10-6-15-1T. I used my trusty Gigabyte 890FXA-UD5 & Phenom II X6 1090T Setup.

I did not expect these results at all, actually I did not expect my IMC to allow speeds this high. Turns out I have a great hardware combination. When I was in the BIOS the speeds just kept going up and up. I eventually tightened the timings down to CAS8...which I thought was amazing for a frequency of 2240MHz.

PS, Video should be up and live in 25 min

it's kinda suicide to lap a die of a chip bro, it's as gud as killin d chip instantly imo... but d scratches on d die... hmmm...  hmm.gif

Nah you can lap a die fine. This chip died from a pressure crack from mounting a cooler too tight.
