hi..
1.is it true that x-fi is not supported in vista? any other choice than alsa driver?
2.i want to reformat my windows(primary os) how to keep the grub loader? if i format now i will not able to access ubuntu right?
*
1. I don't know if Vista supports X-FI or not, but in Linux, use Alsa. I don't know of any other driver.
2. There's no way to keep the grub loader. After you install Windows, the grub loader will be gone. You will need to reinstall grub (only). You can do this via Ubuntu LiveCD. Try google for 'reinstall grub ubuntu'.

what do u mean by changing your IP it's back to normal? is it after you renew your streamyx IP? If that the case, it's not ubuntu problem i think.

Open Firefox, go to Tools, Ad-ons.
Click Extensions tab, disable Ubuntu Firefox Modifications (Ubufox)
Install flashplugin.

That's weird.

You can go to http://packages.ubuntu.com and download the package manually. Double click the DEB file and let it install.

Firefox slowdown issue:
Mostly it is because of flash.
Use Flashblock to block out the irritating flash adverts you don't bother to view anyway.

Desktop effects.
If you cannot get the 3D cube to work try typing in these codes in the terminal.

CODE
gconftool-2 --type int --set /apps/compiz/general/screen0/options/hsize 4

CODE
gconftool-2 --type int --set /apps/compiz/general/screen0/options/hsize 4

could it be access point problem? misconfigure it?
how you connect to the wireless, because to me I just click on network manager and click on the network.
