i wanted to buy a laptop, but i dunno which one will work out of the box with *buntu. of course the shop wouldnt allow you to pop in the LiveCD to check that everything is working. so i want some sugesstion of laptops that works out of the box, e.g. compiz, wi-fi, ACPI
i have tested personally Fujitsu LifeBook S7211 (RM2599) works perfectly with 7.10 and 8.04 but doesnt have integrated BlueTooth that i want. i know Dell Inspiron 1420 and 1520 will work flawlessly, but i'm not a fan of Dell. so please tell me any laptops that works perfectly without any need to install extra driver to make it work |

Hi after i installed linux ubuntu for dual boot, xp+linux, it will hv a bootloader include with ubuntu right (GRUB loader?).. for dual boot choosing os purpose..
And then how to uninstall ubuntu? if i just delete the linux partition, then the bootloader provide by ubuntu didn't get remove n it block me from boot into my xp, the loader say can't find a os to boot if i'm not mistaken.. I tried to repair the xp with xp cd but after the repair setup copied all the necessary files for repair purpose, it must reboot to proceed, but after reboot the bootloader blocked before it proceed to the windows repair setup.. then i gonna reformat my whole hdd n reinstall xp.. So.. my question is how to completely uninstall ubuntu from a dual boot os n how to uninstall the bootloader provide by ubuntu and get repair my xp to the previous error free state? thx~ |

That's because you just delete Grub boot linux system. How to solve. First, you have to insert WinXp cd and boot. ![]() Select repair for this option ![]() Select WinXp partition (Enter admin password if any). ![]() Type the command as below: FIXBOOT <enter> Press Y <enter> Enter command; FIXMBR <enter> Press Y <enter> Restart PC .. Windows should be running as usual. Use Partition Magic or Hirens Boot CD to delete Linux partion. Finish. |
