Like it says, have you tried booting with noapic option?
Or, you can disable ioapic in your BIOS if the BIOS supports it.

If it hangs as well, we would need to look deeper.

1. I don't know if Vista supports X-FI or not, but in Linux, use Alsa. I don't know of any other driver.
2. There's no way to keep the grub loader. After you install Windows, the grub loader will be gone. You will need to reinstall grub (only). You can do this via Ubuntu LiveCD. Try google for 'reinstall grub ubuntu'.
Yeah it does feel that way on my old laptop. On my C2D desktop, everything's smooth.

err..typo laa doh.gif
actually i want to use x-fi in linux. but according to ALSA website,x-fi is not supported. so is there any other choice other than ALSA?

Added on April 14, 2008, 9:34 pmthanks for the second tip. wink.gif

after i typed ' ndiswrapper -l" i got this message

CODE

tomz@tomz-desktop:~$ ndiswrapper -l
wusb54gsck : driver installed
device (13B1:0026) present
tomz@tomz-desktop:~$

does this mean that the os already detected my hardware or just the driver successfully installed?
