Firefox slowdown issue:
Mostly it is because of flash.
Use Flashblock to block out the irritating flash adverts you don't bother to view anyway.

Desktop effects.
If you cannot get the 3D cube to work try typing in these codes in the terminal.

CODE
gconftool-2 --type int --set /apps/compiz/general/screen0/options/hsize 4

CODE
gconftool-2 --type int --set /apps/compiz/general/screen0/options/hsize 4

no it effects the whole screen.. i've narrowed it down to the graphics card la.. something is messed up with the card... anyone has any idea what may have caused this?..
i put my friends graphics card into my pc and everything is fine.. just my graphics card is crazy...

sometimes its ok sometimes its distorted.. like now the screen is fine.. but earlier it was crazy.. with like small green boxes here and there... black boxes... black lines across the screen.. various coloured dots all over the screen... its a circus here lol rclxub.gif

dunno leh.
firstly firefox was acting weird.
it kept saying i have no space to download but my disk analyzer states i've gigabytes to spare. then the download will just hang there cannot stop/cancel unless restart firefox and delete the partially downloaded files.

later search box also kenot use. try to restart i notice my gnome is broken. x-server, gnome, nautilus, and a few more have tons of error messages before starting up to a windows managerless desktop.

got a working wm when i switched to my xfce session but it seems like there is a big problem as most of the applications won't load sweat.gif

i'm too lazy and sleepy to manually do it now tongue.gif

linux suxxxxx =p no not really but.. in some cases it does..
like my bloody graphics driver case.. and i dunno if you guys notice.. but.. when u type something in open office.. even though you save it as .doc file when u open it with microsoft word on another pc the formatting and allignment will 'lari' abit...
*
same like u save things in wordpad open in ms word oso different.

QUOTE(xordMeztGeR @ Jul 27 2008, 01:03 AM)
of course the formatting will be different since open office is not microsoft office. untill microsoft willingly to release their source code ( which i doubt) we'll have to live with it. or you can try to run microsoft office using wine. btw, have you tried envy for your graphic? first thing after i installed hardy heron and configured my network, i installed envy and it basically install my 8600GT like a charm. even linux mint uses envy to install their graphic.
*
what is envy?
i need help to fix my linux.
i think i broke the kernel sweat.gif
