You might say, how to play without bounce? Well, you can learn to bounch your stick with the pull back stroke like > single hit and then you pull back the stick with your last 3 fingers. The more you practice with this method (single, double, triplets, paradiddles strokes and get up to speed, imagine what you can do when you're playing with proper drum skin with bounce.
*
Actually, it's the bounce of a conventional drum that's hard to control. The response of a practice pad is predictable hence easy to get used to.
On a conventional drum, every hit causes waves in the skin which makes the subsequent hits slightly harder to control.
The faster and harder you go, the bigger the inconsistency in bounce from each hit; same goes if both your hands are hitting closer to each other, i.e. hitting the same spot, or at the dead centre where the skin is most flexible.

i find it hard to believe. either they want to jaga ur hati kah or they full blast their tv set to cover up the noises u make.

how is it possible for a "wooden seperators" manage to cover up the monstrous decibels that a drum makes? if it is possible, party2dmax would've get pissed, real pissed. haha.

Some of my friends use acoustic drum for home practice. Their neighbors seems ok with that. Maybe they just dun care.
For me, 200++bpm twin paddle/blast beat on snare will never be quiet.
Try it first.. if nobody throw a kapak to you, then it's fine la. Good luck

I'm using an acoustic set at home. but to jaga my neihgbours' privacy, I only play them during office hours (10am-4pm on weekdays) and no drums on weekends. It's been almost 6 years already, didn't receive any complaints yet.

anyone has tried any Cadeson drum kits before?
I've tried the Lewis Pragasam's signature kit (Glaze series) and their Stadium series before. The Lewis Pragasam's kit is actually the original kit used by him, he left it at TGS Hartamas for a while. His acrylic set is a monster man, very big. Got tone and very punchy, I can say that it is worth buying( RM10K plus). The stadium series (RM3.8K) is quite nice also. The kit's resonance is fantastic. anyone?

Well we never expect it would be so quiet.

I lock my room doors and I hit the drums hard.

I have a king size bed and quite stuffed room though. Not to mention that my drums is near a busy road and there's a wide balcony beside.

Playing soft is not my style.

In fact I play really hard. That if my ear mutes fell off my ears would hurt.

in-ear monitors which let's them hear the backing track+other musicians+metronome+communicate with background crew. or it could be either combination of those few.

rclxms.gif thumbup.gif
yUP I OSO THINK SAME THING... td20 IS past tech and e pro is new stuff... R u sure pearl e pro sound better? Then like dat pearl e pro will definitely better... E pro can change into acoustic also?? 100% same like acoustic with the crash and other stuff real acoustic?
*
E-Pro sounds better than TD-20 acoustically because YES you can change it into an acoustic drumset, and no, the TD-20 can't be changed tongue.gif Personally though.. I find that the TD-20 sounds better.

Oh yeah I stuff pillows in my bassdrum to prevent my walls from shaking.

Maybe there's a tip there.

Mute pads for cymbals, snares is something you might want to try. I don't use them, though.
*
Yeah... But mute pads defeat the purpose of having a nice setup.
I know a guy in the PDF forums who bought a nine piece, double bass drum Tama Starclassic Bubinga/Birch, complete with Portnoy's Melody Masters and a couple of Warlord snares, just to mute it up. tongue.gif

Ahh... I'm the opposite of you.

My kit is in an office... So I only play way after office hours... 7PM to 12AM anyone? tongue.gif

Yup smile.gif But drummers who can't AFFORD IEM's... Usually use them just to soften the tone. There's one ear mute in US that allows you to change the level of noise that you hear, more bass, more treble, etc. Not connected to anything... Just switch out one or two parts for something else xD

Owh no lah.. I'm currently doing my bachelor degree in engineering at one "private local uni" (Just to remain anonymous, hahaha)
Not studying music, I only have Rockschool certs in drums and currently working as a part-time drum instructor at one "local music store" (To remain anonymous also, hahaha!)

Btw, just got back from Bentley and JS music. Tried the Ddrum at JS. I was surprised by the price, very reasonable and affordable. Shawn Drover's snare drum is around RM800 plus and Vinnie Paul's Signature around RM1.1K-Rm1.2k. I've tried the Ddrum Duo Maple kit (RM4.5K), the resonance is quite nice. Will put that kit in my wishlist. hehehe.

Went to Bentley to check out the price for the speed cobra. Double pedal is RM1.6K and single pedal is RM750. asked the sales assistant, he said there's no much different between speed cobra and iron cobra, just that for the speed cobra, the board is longer than iron cobra thus the feel is a bit different.
