Hi,

You should try to install 'Quick Setting'. I can easily switch from 2G to 3G and disable Mobile Data (when I'm roaming) etc...

Cheers..

i use " Screebl Lite" to save the battery life. it seems like it turned off the system off based the angle how you hold the phone...and this can be done in their setting. you guys should check that app biggrin.gif

I believe change Network Mode to GSM only for 2G, WCDMA only for 3G. And then theres the Auto Mode.

oh dont block the APN. click "using GSM only" avoid using " automatically CDMA or GSM" cuz itll go to 3g anyway with that option

There are two ways. One is by connecting your phone using the USB cable and select Internet whatever from the menu (if you set it to select which mode).

The other is using Mobile AP and turning your phone into mini hotspot.
I prefer mobile AP, since 3G watchdog can still watch your usage when you use it as opposed to the other one.

Battery life is awesome! I have animated wallpaper, Facebook and Twitter retrieving updates and feeds every 30 minutes, Hotmail sync every 1 hour, WhatsApp push messaging always available. By end of the day, I usually have 70% to 85% of remaining power. By any chance I have lots of SMS and phone call, the lowest I ever had is 60% after a day

I wrote this, I always keep myself connected to internet.
*
wow,the most i get from this phone is 1 and a half day for normal usage.

may i know what do you do for the battery when you first got the phone?

No specific settings that I can recall. I didn't even change 2G/3G settings manually. I think it is auto but 3G signal in my house is weak. I guess it might be using 2G most of the time. Using default twlauncher.

It doesn't last long when it is new. When I just got the phone, I just keep charging the battery. Charge, take out, play a while, about 90%, I charge it full again. After a week of repeated rapid charging, the battery indicator hardly falls.

guys how to use SGS as tethering? is it the one with AP setting to make it as a hotspot? does it work yet? or need froyo for that?
*
USB tethering, plug in the usb, tick usb tethering in wireless and network

Mobile AP, set the password and all of that, turn it on, connect at laptop, PROFIT!!

both of the method will make your phone heat up, when do tethering or mobile AP, i always open the back cover, you can feel lil bit hot near the speaker.

from the way you say it, i kinda have a theory of what happen.

you do know that the battery indicator kinda messed up sometimes? (look it up, keyword: SGS battery indicator wrong)

maybe the way you charging it make the phone think it got more power than it should have, maybe at 30% or so you phone could go kaput suddenly (finish battery)

this is just my theory though laugh.gif well there are few forumer that say they got even 2 days of batt life

No, I don't really overcharge and I unplug upon full charge. I watch the voltage so that it does not exceed 4200mV for too long.

Maybe my batterystats.bin is messed up but one day, if the phone died while showing 30% remaining, I'll report in. biggrin.gif
