i read from forum they said you can jsut apply on top of it, since its voodoo in the core as well. but i never tried it.

Yes it works without having to disable the lagfix. This is because both supercurio's Voodoo kernel and the stock JM8 kernel with Voodoo improvements both can recognise the ext4 partition on the sdcard (where we install our apps).

The Voodoo that comes baked into a stock kernel is based on JM8. If you are already on JM8 firmware, you should be able to directly do an update in recovery. But to be on the safe side, you can go the roundabout way:
1. disable voodoo 3.0
2. reboot so it reverts to RFS.
3. ensure RFS is in use via Quadrant (800+ score)
4. enter recovery mode, run update.zip that has the Voodoo + JM8 stock kernel
5. after that it should reboot but will still be using RFS because of 'disable lagfix' folder
6. remove disable lagfix folder
7. reboot to enable Voodoo
8. Verify with Quadrant

Phew. If you aren't on JM8, you need to disable Voodoo first. Then only flash over to JM8.

So guys, meaning if I am on JG4 +Voodoo Lag Fix (VLF) 3.0, I have to first remove the VLF and then flash to JM8 firmware?

Can I just use back my JG4 with the JM8 Kernel so that I don's have to flash a new firmware? sorry.. I am still learning hence asking these questions....

Cheers...

According to reader reports, the JM8 kernel with voodoo should work with non-JM8 (but only Eclair) firmwares. To be safe, though, I went up to JM8 first then applied the JM8 kernel+voodoo update.

Cool.. you dived right in. Respect. smile.gif
You won't see any change in speed as it's based on Voodoo 3.0. What you should see is an improvement in power management.

Also, I noticed that my Wifi sleep policies work now. They didn't in Voodoo without the stock JM8 kernel. smile.gif

I think battery consumption depends more on what you do with the connections. I just know 3G uses more battery than 2G.

Just reflash it back to your original firmware (DXJG4?). If you've never flashed before, just do a factory reset. Settings -> Privacy -> Factory data reset.

HI,
i'm new to anndroid. so far i havent bought any. i like to buy galaxy s, but the prob is i need arabic-full-support for the phone. few days ago i searchd for it at lowyat but then i was quite upset bcoz no shop selling the phone with full arabic support neither flashing it into arabic ROM. i have read info on flashing ROm, rooting, & many other ways to cahnge into arabic-full-support phone even reshaping arabic word but i'm afraid of the risk that it may not function or "dead phone" jus like that. so, would u (any thread mmber) suggest me some way to get / buy my admired galaxy s with FULL ARABIC SUPPORT (messaging, web browsing, reading arabic apps & other things)? thnaking all of u in advance!

p/s: i prefer newest platform froyo 2.2
