On a side note, my bro's IP4 just freezed on him this afternoon. He googled and it seemed that iOS has memory issues while multi-tasking, resulting in freezes that require a full reboot.

And they say Symbian was bad with memory lol. At least my E71 only has 128MB ram only. iOS has half a gig pun freeze? Baik no multi-tasking at all.

As I said before my pictures are for private viewing only  tongue.gif
I don't show off my picture.But to my surprise,some of my friends who are into photography have heard of fcamera & N900.

Triple booting is definitely possible with slight tweak but not everyone likes this idea.
If MeeGo turns out to be good & large numbers of developers starts writing apps for it,then I'll just dump NITDroid(sorry NITDroid team) & install MeeGo as my secondary OS.
Nope.Like aspire said remove your battery & insert it back.

i totally agree i have alot photos those are private viewing u wont find it on the net. Only those not private ill show

SIB is the best but don't try to play videos higher than 540 height video because it will lag...dropframes also will cause lots of problem smile.gif keep pixels max at 540px height...

when an OS requires more memory, it simply means bloated kernel,processes,ui and drivers.

look at vista, it was using more memory than xp, look where is vista now...

imho, the bigger something gets, apps or OS, the more room for bugs and mem leaks...

Help with what?
Samsung Star do have ad-hoc issue.But there are way to connect to the desired ad-hoc.Google for the solution.

I wouldn't say Sygic is crap.It's the map support that is crappy.It's outdated & there's no much detail on the map.
You have a point in saying phone functions are crap.But what really make want to stab Nokia execs is they can actually improved everything with another software update for Maemo 5.But as usual Nokia prefers to keep quiet on this part.
Somehow the Maemo community doing their best to keep this wonderful piece of device alive & kicking.I doubt any other OS community members willing to spend time to port a complete workable OS or extremely helpful functions like OTG for free.

Speaking of other phone,I guess Milestone 2 should arrive 1st.N9 & Pre 2 have pretty much the same issue,the OS.MeeGo beta should be coming out in 23 days.webOS still don't have any release date but there's already some screenshots of the working OS.My choice will still be the N9 because I have the soft spot for MeeGo since it's derived from Maemo.
But if Mozilla managed to drop a bomb by delivering the Mozilla Seabird then 1000% for sure I'll go for it. tongue.gif

Maemo is unique as it's Internet Tablet OS instead of the usual smartphone OS; So, there is very customizable "panaromic" Desktop which no ordinary smartphone Os have or seen, it brings the feels of having a desktop like our Windows. Then there's no restrictions like have to put the widget inside this box/area, etc. The widgets comes in all sort of sizes, and depending on the developer, the widgets can allow user to customize further, and we have the ultimate Queen Beacon widget, etc.

Honestly speaking, it's beyond smartphone OS level, as it's the closest thing to a real PC-like experience.

Look at the apps on Maemo, we have port of Google Chrome browser, can even install full Java and run Java applets.... there is also NetBeans for programming, PSFredom for hacking PS3, codecs, mplayer, etc. We're like talking totally different level from the usual smartphone OS level; well, after all, it's a tablet OS; The limitation is that the lack of RAM mainly... Would be great if it was really 1GB RAM instead of 256MB + 768MB (Virtual Memory).

I've experience iPod Touch lagging as well, have to restart.

Anyway, generally, the more sophisticated or complicated, the more things need to handle/take care. iOS generally is very simple, no homescreen (big problem gone), no widget (another big problem gone); It just have MENU and one godly button.

When playing rmvb files, if you're using SiB as front-end GUI, there is options in Settings of the player which you can select "Drop Frames"; It should play smoother, at least watchable.

OK guys.. This is about my N900 malfunction recently.. There's good news & bad news..

I'll go with the bad news first;
Few hours ago, I've started the step-by-step FIRMWARE UPDATE / REFLASH / REFORMAT manual method (thanks to Aspire2oo6).

1st step - flasher-3.5.exe -F R.bin -f -R. It end up with this;
Finishing flashing... done
CMT flashing failed

Possibly due to the fact that I've already done the FOTA.

2nd step - flasher-3.5.exe -F RE.bin -f -R (reformat/reflash)
It worked.. the phone started as a new phone's 1st time boot, BUT the same pop-up notification appeared during the boot up (blinking white dots) & the same warning is repeated when reaching the desktop, saying;
"All telephony functions, including emergency calls, are disabled due to a communication error. To recover, you might have to reboot the device".
Seems that the 'hard reset' method doesn't fix this kinda problem..

Good news is.. I went back to the shop, explain to the seller, then he put his own SIM and no luck with that too, he called his towkey besar and I'll get a new set of N900 tomorrow. WEEEHHHEEEEE...
FEwwwwwww.. At 1st I thought I'll have to wait like some few weeks/months to fix this thing up.. So relieved..

Thought I could solve this problem myself with the given instructions so that the same solution would apply to anybody who gets this similar problem.. But what the heck. Probably people from Nokia can't even solve this thing too!

Thanks Aspire2oo6 and everyone for your support smile.gif

great to hear your situation has been resolved. I suspect it may have occured due to flashing the wrong regional firmware maybe?? i read somewhere that a an900 user solved his by reflashing global firmware.
