QUOTE(Andy214 @ Oct 8 2010, 08:25 AM) Thanks to the power of tablet OS and FCam~ If it wants to be a proper phone, it needs to look the part. Desktop concepts do not really work well for your fingertips. It might look cool, but in terms of egronomics?Wonder if MeeGo will be able to live up to Maemo standard, or it will become another "mobile" standard OS. For start, seems it already lost the Desktop concept... But we still NEED a widgetized homescreen to manage info-overload, and hopefully Nokia doesn't ditch that in favour of iPhone menu only idiocy. As for the no Meego news, that's what INTEL is saying. They are planning their own Moorestown based platform, rite? HOPEFULLY that has nothing to do with Nokia's ARM based Meego devices - the N9 included. |

It might look cool, but in terms of egronomics? True, but there's already many similar type smartphone; Windows Mobile homescreen, Android homescreen, all looks similar, Symbian looks something similar but the "boxes" or "borders" of each widget's area makes it look a bit ugly (depend on preference). We need something different or choices; That's one reason some people choose Maemo over the others. For normal end users, why should they choose MeeGo over Android, if they look almost the same, when Android is more popular and even the name itself sound way better. Maemo users as from talk.maemo forum, they were all along Maemo tablet users, which is difference category with normal smartphones. If MeeGo is nothing like Maemo, these category of users is like just being abandon. It would be nice/great if there is such thing as choosing Portrait or Landscape Desktop, or both in settings of the OS itself. |

QUOTE(Eiraku @ Oct 7 2010, 06:47 PM) Maybe the Star doesn't play nice with ad-hoc connections? Because IINM that's what Joikuspot is using. Star Wifi does support ad hoc...Back during my N900 days I used mobile hotspot though - better compatibility with custom kernels. Well, actually the app-scape of Maemo is fine, except for the lack of a proper GPS app (don't say there's Sygic, it's crap and we all know it). but i dunno what is wrong...it could be the setting of the Joikuspot... THe Star wifi can see the Joikospot AP...but when it try to connect...directly disconnect it... Sometime i got "No Respons from AP" Help Help... Im using Custom Kernel 40...Joikuspot 1.22 |
