not really bro. there are some apps i'd like to have ported to maemo, but there is a good stable of apps which currently suits all my needs. It depends on wether you're looking for functionality over having a flashy top of the range phone.Its games that are severely lacking, but i have a psp for that,

Added on October 8, 2010, 12:02 amgreat to hear your situation has been resolved. I suspect it may have occured due to flashing the wrong regional firmware maybe?? i read somewhere that a an900 user solved his by reflashing global firmware.

actually it might only be coming with meego 1.2 by april next year. From what i've read on talk.maemo, and the meego pages, ver 1.1 will have a usable handset UX but only 1.2 will be fully functional.

The alternative is the Facebrick app, which now has its own desktop widget based on the RSS feed widget. dunno bout the batt drain tho as i am currently testing it,

thanks for the clarification, alien, i get bloody confused sometimes, becos i read in talk.maemo somehwere that meego 1.1 is supposed to be half maemo6/meego ( Harmattan? ) while meego proper is supposed to be frm 1.2 onwards ( hence Intel's insistence that no meego devices will be out before 2011) ??

i browse talk.maemo quite a bit, so i'm dere. busy defending us ( lowyat.net n900 users )from some bongok, who says we hate our n900s.

did u enable the proper repo?

also don't forget to install extra media plugins also from app manager.

aiks, quite odd... whats the resolution? Sib plays all my flv files but some times has trouble with 720p files.

afaik, this version of the firmware is from week 36, so may not be the complete build. But we weren't expecting amssive changes for pr 1.3 anyway, just the ability to dual boot meego, and bug fixes.

the rom is the game file. You need to get the game rom files for ps, and put them in ur psx4all folder. same concept as psp for those of you looking for the simplest explanation.

Added on October 21, 2010, 4:46 amwell dual boot with meego ler. the problem before is that meego is using a diff kernel. the pr1.3 will update the kernel for maemo, allowing the bootage of meego. dunno, wether it'll be possible to triple boot with nitroid, since i read somewhere that the boot loader we're using might not work.

A) The functionality you're looking for ( what you wanna use yer phone for )
B) Wether your interested in having a phone where you love tweaking the os, theming, etc . I was a symbian user before this, and i mastered all ( even custom rom flashing ) tweaks and hacks. In fact my n82 was the 2nd n82 to be hacked by FCA the now infamous hacker who cracked permissions on s60.

personally i can say that i don't regret buying this phone, and have only minor gripes because it does exactly what i need it too, has a fully manually customizable theme-ing system, its traught me about linux. Always seems to be expanding its functionality, is unique ( i'm the only person i know who owns one. very few of them even know about it or have seen it around ) and lastly it has what i consider my favourite phone factor design to date. the touchscreen with a slide out qwerty. oh yeah, also i prefer the n900's resistive screen, what can i say i prefer accuracy, and browsing the net is still best with a stylus with a device with a screen this size, love this explanation by user Alex Atkin UK on talk.maemo :



so take some time to do some research on the n900. If you're willing to spend a little time and effort doing that, then , you may be a future n900-a-holic like some of us here,
