QUOTE(arcalius_7 @ Oct 7 2010, 12:55 PM) 3. Simple. lack of apps & almost EOL just like N800 N810. not really bro. there are some apps i'd like to have ported to maemo, but there is a good stable of apps which currently suits all my needs. It depends on wether you're looking for functionality over having a flashy top of the range phone. Its games that are severely lacking, but i have a psp for that, This post has been edited by porselinaheart: Oct 7 2010, 06:05 PM |

There's good news & bad news.. great to hear your situation has been resolved. I suspect it may have occured due to flashing the wrong regional firmware maybe?? i read somewhere that a an900 user solved his by reflashing global firmware.I'll go with the bad news first; Few hours ago, I've started the step-by-step FIRMWARE UPDATE / REFLASH / REFORMAT manual method (thanks to Aspire2oo6). 1st step - flasher-3.5.exe -F R.bin -f -R. It end up with this; Finishing flashing... done CMT flashing failed Possibly due to the fact that I've already done the FOTA. 2nd step - flasher-3.5.exe -F RE.bin -f -R (reformat/reflash) It worked.. the phone started as a new phone's 1st time boot, BUT the same pop-up notification appeared during the boot up (blinking white dots) & the same warning is repeated when reaching the desktop, saying; "All telephony functions, including emergency calls, are disabled due to a communication error. To recover, you might have to reboot the device". Seems that the 'hard reset' method doesn't fix this kinda problem.. Good news is.. I went back to the shop, explain to the seller, then he put his own SIM and no luck with that too, he called his towkey besar and I'll get a new set of N900 tomorrow. WEEEHHHEEEEE... FEwwwwwww.. At 1st I thought I'll have to wait like some few weeks/months to fix this thing up.. So relieved.. Thought I could solve this problem myself with the given instructions so that the same solution would apply to anybody who gets this similar problem.. But what the heck. Probably people from Nokia can't even solve this thing too! Thanks Aspire2oo6 and everyone for your support This post has been edited by porselinaheart: Oct 8 2010, 12:02 AM |

QUOTE(super_evil_alien @ Oct 15 2010, 02:31 AM) You can use this in MeeGo 1.1 once it's released. actually it might only be coming with meego 1.2 by april next year. From what i've read on talk.maemo, and the meego pages, ver 1.1 will have a usable handset UX but only 1.2 will be fully functional. It's already been confirmed that 3G video call will be supported in MeeGo 1.1 for Nokia N900. Added on October 17, 2010, 11:19 am QUOTE(Daniel89 @ Oct 15 2010, 07:51 PM) there are 2 fb desktop widgets that show status msgs. the standard one is pretty basic, buts saps ur battery kao kao. The alternative is the Facebrick app, which now has its own desktop widget based on the RSS feed widget. dunno bout the batt drain tho as i am currently testing it, This post has been edited by porselinaheart: Oct 17 2010, 11:19 AM |

QUOTE(super_evil_alien @ Oct 17 2010, 11:27 AM) Handset UX already released sometimes ago. thanks for the clarification, alien, i get bloody confused sometimes, becos i read in talk.maemo somehwere that meego 1.1 is supposed to be half maemo6/meego ( Harmattan? ) while meego proper is supposed to be frm 1.2 onwards ( hence Intel's insistence that no meego devices will be out before 2011) ??v 1.1 is complete MeeGo adaptation for N900.Maybe there is some missing functions & bugs here & there but this is fully usable beta.If you visit MeeGo's IRC channels you'll get extra infos. From what I know v 1.2 is the MeeGo update to support Intel's Moorestown based processors.Meaning this version is the OS for the upcoming Intel + Nokia's 1st MeeGo based smartphone. Basically right now MeeGo for ARM based device are ready(there will be updates of course). Also Hakulinen already mentioned that once v1.2 of MeeGo is ready it'll be adapted to N900 also. Added on October 17, 2010, 11:34 amI'm kinda hoping that some users will start porting the OS for other smartphones(HTC,Samsung etc2).If MeeGo can be adapted to phone easier than Android maybe in future we can see phone with our choice of OS. Imagine N8 with MeeGo Added on October 17, 2010, 6:02 pm QUOTE(zhlly4eae @ Oct 17 2010, 02:22 PM) try first bro, i know it seems daunting because you may not have prior knowledge, but most of us started in the same boat. slowly after trial end error with the tutos, our knowledge has increased! This post has been edited by porselinaheart: Oct 17 2010, 06:02 PM |

QUOTE(one1002 @ Oct 20 2010, 10:12 PM) the leaked PR1.3 seems not that interesting..there's already a guy flashed the N900 with the leaked PR1.3...here's the summarize of the leaked firmware. afaik, this version of the firmware is from week 36, so may not be the complete build. But we weren't expecting amssive changes for pr 1.3 anyway, just the ability to dual boot meego, and bug fixes. |

QUOTE(zhlly4eae @ Oct 20 2010, 06:16 PM) the rom is the game file. QUOTE(super_evil_alien @ Oct 21 2010, 02:19 AM) I was wondering how to capture video for new MeeGo but fortunately the N900 MeeGo maintainer did this himself alien which meego image did u flash??? been wrestling with the idea of giving the pre-builds a try, since somehow, i think i've messed up my mce.ini, so neither my notification lights, nor keyboard backlights are working. due for a reflashing, graphic accelerated btw. You have to love the potrait & landscape switch effect Added on October 21, 2010, 4:43 am QUOTE(zhlly4eae @ Oct 20 2010, 08:22 PM) its in the repos for sure, just downloaded it like a week ago or something.Added on October 21, 2010, 4:46 am QUOTE(Josh_M @ Oct 20 2010, 09:33 PM) Anyone saw this. well dual boot with meego ler. the problem before is that meego is using a diff kernel. the pr1.3 will update the kernel for maemo, allowing the bootage of meego. dunno, wether it'll be possible to triple boot with nitroid, since i read somewhere that the boot loader we're using might not work.http://www.geeky-gadgets.com/nokia-firmwar...ego-14-10-2010/ does this means FW 1.3 comes with dual boot option Added on October 21, 2010, 4:48 am QUOTE(bratvalove @ Oct 20 2010, 09:46 PM) what colour u using?? i think i have the same thing, but could only find, grey, EDIT: Fixed my lighting problem. DAMN YOU FCAM!!!! ( ala Planet of the Apes Added on October 21, 2010, 5:41 am QUOTE(Jayi @ Oct 21 2010, 12:36 AM) Should I change my n97 mini to N900 ? I was really amazed with meamo OS instead of old symbian 5th and the new ^3 . Nothing big different changed from 5th and ^3 . Beside should I wait for the next internet tablet like N920 said from rumors with meamo 6 ? Suggestion from guys pls . Ty i think many of us will agree, it depends on :A) The functionality you're looking for ( what you wanna use yer phone for ) B) Wether your interested in having a phone where you love tweaking the os, theming, etc . I was a symbian user before this, and i mastered all ( even custom rom flashing ) tweaks and hacks. In fact my n82 was the 2nd n82 to be hacked by FCA the now infamous hacker who cracked permissions on s60. personally i can say that i don't regret buying this phone, and have only minor gripes because it does exactly what i need it too, has a fully manually customizable theme-ing system, its traught me about linux. Always seems to be expanding its functionality, is unique ( i'm the only person i know who owns one. very few of them even know about it or have seen it around ) and lastly it has what i consider my favourite phone factor design to date. the touchscreen with a slide out qwerty. oh yeah, also i prefer the n900's resistive screen, what can i say i prefer accuracy, and browsing the net is still best with a stylus with a device with a screen this size, QUOTE I find the iPod Touch far too sensitive to touches due to capacitive. While resistive can seem slightly insensitive overall I find that preferable to it picking up me holding the device as a touch, which happens to me all the time on the iPod. That is doubly so when you use a stylus. Yes you can use a stylus on capacitive but its just as likely to pickup your hand resting on the screen while you try to get a comfortable position to hold the device for using a stylus. Resistive means your fingers can slightly rest on the screen allowing you to hold it easier on one hand while drawing/tapping with the stylus in the other. Also, grease from your fingers WILL disrupt capacitive sooner or later. I find myself having to wipe the screen too often on the iPod because its stopped responding yet it doesn't look dirty. With resistive it doesn't matter how dirty it is or your hand is, you can still operate it. Not to mention the old "when wearing gloves" argument or "using any implement that exerts pressure". so take some time to do some research on the n900. If you're willing to spend a little time and effort doing that, then , you may be a future n900-a-holic like some of us here, This post has been edited by porselinaheart: Oct 21 2010, 05:41 AM |
