Hello everyone. I really need some big, big help right now.. Got my own Nokia N900 LAST NIGHT, did some basic stuff with it; change phone settings and take a good closer look on 'what's new' on N900.. and then I updated the firmware to the latest software update by FOTA, waited til the update finished, then I turned it off, and then charged it using the given charger adapter, not exceeding 4 hours of charging.

This morning after I wake up, saw the green light on the phone, which means the phone is fully charged, unplugged the adapter, turned the N900 on and this is where the problem started..

The phone took a long time to boot, and a banner appeared during the boot up (blinking white dots) saying:

"All telephony functions, including emergency calls, are disabled due to a communication error. To recover, you might have to reboot the device".

Tapping the screen clears this, and boot continues. The same warning is repeated when reaching the desktop. The red line is through the SIM card on the main status beside the battery signal, and sure enough, it's disappeared. Tried making some phone calls but the phone failed to do so. It looks like either hardware failure, or driver failure.

I've reseated/cleaned the SIM and swapped SIMs in and out between different devices, so I'm confident it's not the SIM. Did some googling awhile ago and found some users beside me that having the same problem as mine, all telephony function DISABLED by an unknown reason, and it happened not so long after the latest firmware update.

It's really dissapointing.. telefon baru belum sampai 24hours of usage dah kena this kinda problem.. how come bole kena some trouble like this right after update..

Someone.. Anybody.. Mr. Otai Aspire! Please help me fixing this problem... Thanks for reading this panjang lebar prob..

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll try to flush up everything with the flasher tools, and I'll update you guys if the sifu's method works. You guys can also read about this guy's problem from maemo forum, similar to mine and unable to flash the device after the FOTA.. So afraid..

might be due to large file download causing the file corrupted, pc download normally safer

Truth is I like to try the PC method on the updates, but last night our beloved SCREAMYX buat hal, downloading from megaupload is like 3, 2, 1, 0kbps! Just hope it doesn't effect any hardware failure for my problem here.. Yup, no more FOTA for me afterwards

Welcome to the club

1st question Is your phone ori or ap?
2nd question Is your phone used or brand new?
3rd Can try reflash to global firmware like most of us. You are the first to face such issue.
*
1) Sadly, it's an AP set
2) It's a brand new set
3) Right now I'm waiting for the global firmware to finish download, referring to your guide Sifu! And... Yup, lucky me tongue.gif

Thanks for the concern. Really appreciate it thumbup.gif

OK guys.. This is about my N900 malfunction recently.. There's good news & bad news..

I'll go with the bad news first;
Few hours ago, I've started the step-by-step FIRMWARE UPDATE / REFLASH / REFORMAT manual method (thanks to Aspire2oo6).

1st step - flasher-3.5.exe -F R.bin -f -R. It end up with this;
Finishing flashing... done
CMT flashing failed

Possibly due to the fact that I've already done the FOTA.

2nd step - flasher-3.5.exe -F RE.bin -f -R (reformat/reflash)
It worked.. the phone started as a new phone's 1st time boot, BUT the same pop-up notification appeared during the boot up (blinking white dots) & the same warning is repeated when reaching the desktop, saying;
"All telephony functions, including emergency calls, are disabled due to a communication error. To recover, you might have to reboot the device".
Seems that the 'hard reset' method doesn't fix this kinda problem..

Good news is.. I went back to the shop, explain to the seller, then he put his own SIM and no luck with that too, he called his towkey besar and I'll get a new set of N900 tomorrow. WEEEHHHEEEEE...
FEwwwwwww.. At 1st I thought I'll have to wait like some few weeks/months to fix this thing up.. So relieved..

Thought I could solve this problem myself with the given instructions so that the same solution would apply to anybody who gets this similar problem.. But what the heck. Probably people from Nokia can't even solve this thing too!

Thanks Aspire2oo6 and everyone for your support smile.gif

great to hear your situation has been resolved. I suspect it may have occured due to flashing the wrong regional firmware maybe?? i read somewhere that a an900 user solved his by reflashing global firmware.
*
Yea? Could be.. PR1.2 download link from Aspire2oo6 is also the global firmware..Different region different solutions maybe hmm.gif

Added on October 8, 2010, 12:19 amBy the way porselinaheart.. you gave us a dead link you know. File not found. tongue.gif

That's the reason for not buying cheap selling 2nd handphone bro.. You don't know the exact phone conditions.. Maybe pernah jatuh ke, etc.. You have to be cautious dude.
