I have unrooted using Z4Root, same happens. Now I'm trying on another PC at my office using windows 7, its giving error 'kies fail to update firmware unknown error occurred'.

Would appreciate some reply.

PS: Any chance to download offline firmware and install it on SGT?

Mine is rooted and I can update with no problem. Just after update, I need to root it again but with super one click.

Added on January 9, 2011, 7:06 pmBatt Drain: Good luck, i have been fighting this issue since I got the device 2 months ago. But the latest firmware seems to improve a lot. Also, try JuiceDefender, that helps to manage WiFi and data connection effectively to reduce unnecessary power consumption.

You guys use tab as phone or use like ipad? Use bluetooth?

Use as phone also. Since got no bluetooth earphone, I use another cheap handset and forward the call from my tab to it for answering call in public. In private, I use the tab loudspeaker.

Yes! It happened to my unit too... No choice but to hard reset the unit by pressing *2767*3855# or under settings menu select privacy and select factory data reset. That should work and your wifi connection would be established again.

Downside, all data will be erased except data in your SD card.

Took my unit to Samsung Service but technician confirmed there is nothing wrong with my unit. Suspect the apps I downloaded. Upgraded firmware to the lastest PDA: JM4 | Phone: JM2 | CSC: JM1. So far so good... Have not switched off my modem (on 24 hours) that helps too... I know its weird but this is the best I can advise you so far unless somebody else has a solution to the wifi intermittent connection problem.

JK1 (europe firmware) cannot be updated via kies in Malaysia. Is it ori set? If it is sent it back to Samsung to flash it. My friend's set is JK1 as well and went back service center last week to update to JM4.

My case - usually the pw is corrupted or changed or wrong. Rekeyed in the right pw usually solved it.

iP4 is a phone ( 3.5" screen ) while the SGT is a tablet ( 7" screen ) first, phone second. There is no rationale behind this change unless you already have an extra phone on hand or you find that the iP4 is of no further use/or you are bored with it.
Both are also completely different O/S. Having use the iPhone 4 before and present iPad - the OS of each caters to a different market of users. If you ask me based on my own needs I'd say the SGT is a better tablet to suit my usage compared to the iPad.

However I feel the phone function in the SGT is only a bonus . Making a call is at your control - you need not worry about how , where and when you want to do it. But recieving a call on the SGT will pose a problem depending on where and what situation you are in. Unlike a phone, you just cannot whip it out and just take the call. The SGT poses more inconvenience especially while you are on the move ( whether driving or just walking ) - just imagine the trouble you'd take just to take the call

Spot on. I use ip4 as the phone and carry the sgt as a tablet. Sgt is a more useable tablet than ipad due to the size and portability.
