as for stock prices, technical analysis is not accurate for exchange rates.......
*
Based purely on Technical Analysis, it says GBP is not likely to surpass +/- RM7. And if you care to look at that TA chart, it has be exceedingly accurate because once it reaches that RM7 region in 1998, 2004 and 2007, it falls back. You could not get more accurate than that.

Now bearing in mind that chart is a highly compressed chart so you can't see the detail. But if you search for details elsewhere, it says there is a strong support at 5.00 +/- in 2002. So it is of no surprise GBP has dropped from RM7 and hover around RM5 for quite sometime in 2009/2010. TA theory says that once it reaches the RM5 support line, there is likely to be a rebound and that is exactly what happened when it bounds from RM5 to RM5.80 earlier this year.

But now that RM5 trendline has been broken, that same RM5 trendline is now the new resistance. That is why you have been seeing it hovering just below RM5 for the past week or months and having a hard time to break above it. So yet again, TA is pretty accurate, wouldn't you say?

But then again, my TA skill are pretty limited but even then, I can see some of the major prediction of TA coming true.

emirates is full service airline.....free food......free movies.....more leg room.....chance to fly a380......and lands at lhr instead of small stansted.....

to some people, it's worth paying the extra for that......

yeap and one of the few flights that lands on Gatwick airport too ... if i am not wrong, if u get a together with a return ticket, u can have 40kg allowance!!
price range is around RM2.6k to RM2.8k

QUOTE(fullstop @ Sep 25 2010, 01:31 PM)
how much do you have to bring to the UK when you arrive? I might bring 2k bank draft (to open account) and some cash (800) first. Do i have to bring all 5400 to the UK? I'll bring my bank statement to prove that i have sufficient fund to stay in the UK if they ask me to show them. My mum will send $$ to me times to times. Is that okay? Please advice.  Thanks.
*
800 is good, but watch it and record on wat u spend .. i think i have just over spend abit today in London .. haha
well, u seems to have a good idea above. tell ur parents to open an international bank account in any local bank, buy GBP now then send to u later ... as limeuu mentioned, GBP now is worth buying and also able to be ur backup just in case of any emergencies ...

QUOTE(fullstop @ Sep 25 2010, 04:30 PM)
my mum doesnt want me to bring all the money to the UK as she thinks i will overspend, which i might hah. Its a way to limit myself. Just to ask is it okay when i bring along my recent bank statement states that i have sufficient fund to stay in the UK when in hand i have 2k pound bank draft and 800 in cash when passing through immigration. Thanks.
*
hmm, check if ur uni have a bank inside campus ... my uni got NatWest inside campus ground, and all i need to bring is my passport and my accommodation letter to open an account ... which is convenient but gotta wait around 2 weeks to get my debit since it will be posted ..

nope, i am in Guildford, Surrey ... University of Surrey ... been raining badly yesterday so the temp is bad ...
btw today's weather is good (i mean saturday), went london and it was a great trip! ... love the silver muscle man in covent garden, damn funny looking at him posing and pity him wearing only his pants ...

btw guys, should we add in a section of who is around england? ... wont be posting which university due to privacy things ... hope to have some comment on this ..tq smile.gif

I got stucked in KLIA for 23 hours yesterday lol. It was badass. Luckily they gave us free hotel rooms...in Seremban; which includes free breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Thank god I'm holding business class ticket from Dubai to Manchester. My flight from KL to Dubai consists of mainly northern England university students and their whole family: reads Newcastle and some random universities which I have not heard of.

Bought few cartons of ciggy just now and the cashier told me about UK limit(as if I don't know about it). I literally told her to f*** 'em and cash it all out. /win

Anyone here in Dubai? tongue.gif

you don't need ta for that.....a currency cannot appreciate too high, not will it slump too low (unless you are a basket case like zimbabwe), and the natural forces of cost and trading come in.....i can tell you the gbp will not go far beyond 7, nor will it go below 4.........barring the collapse of either the msian or british economy.....

the question is where the direction of the currency will go at any time, and that is impossible to predict with any accuracy.......i can say it will be between 4 and 7, but that is not helpful in real life decision making.....

My prediction is the chances of GPB going lower than present 4.80 is higher than it going up (because TA chart seem to tell us the 5 is a strong resistance). Therefore, only buy what you need now and not too stockpile, the reverse of your prediction. That was my main point.

TA is an interesting subject that combine the study of human behavior, economic, policy etc. It's a rojak of everything that can and will affect a product, currency or shares.

It fundamental principle are:
1. Price is everything and reflects every factors known and unknown that have an effect on price.
2. History repeats itself.
3. Price move in trends.

And yes, only time will tell because TA is not a crystal ball.

Finally in my room right now. Didn't stop unpacking for the whole night. Since the reception was closed during my arrival, I couldn't get my pillow. Fortunately, I gave some of my stuff to be kept by my friends(including the duvet) - life saver lol.

Yeah, got the business class ticket. I enjoyed myself in the business class lounge, then on the plane had the much needed sleep and entertainment. Seven hours seems short on a business class. XD

Student tuition fees could triple to £10,000 under Government plans to slash direct state funding for universities, it emerged today.

Trust me, it takes a sh1tload of time to get this over the Lower House of the Parliament. There's a similar rumour last year but it died when people created a ruckus and stated that it's unacceptable for education sector to be levied from public funding.

I think they are referring to home student tuition fees increase, not International. Home student are presently paying heavily state subsidized fees whereas International are already paying full fees.

how much for courier service to UK ? let's say per 1kg

omg, instant noodle here around 40-60 pence per pack and cigarette is also expensive.

and if things like cigarette being exported (like 5-6 packs) will get tax from custom?
