I applied on the 8th and got mine today. Thank God what a relief, though now I am still stressed because I am not 100% sure whether its accepted or not. I went there today but I was too late so I didnt manage to collect my passport. Based on what others and the guy there have told me, you will not know 100% whether or not its accepted or not based on your track application. They will just tell you when it's ready for you to collect it. You have to go there and confirm yourself. Anyways I am very sure you'll get yours by tomorrow considering that some people who applied on the 6th got theirs 2 days ago and some only got it yesterday. Don't worry. wink.gif

I arrived there at around 445. I checked in the morning and there was still no update, then I guess I also kinda dilly dallied and reached home after lunch at around 3.45? Then I checked again, and there it was, an update, I was so relieved and pleased! But I didn't have any transport, so had to wait for my driver to come home cuz there wasn't any car at home for me to use. Its stated in the receipt actually, the collection time is 1000-1500. I just went there to test my luck and try to find out whether or not I was accepted or rejected without actually taking the passport since I was anxious. Reached there only to be told its closed, and I cant enter but I managed to ask one of the staffs there and he reconfirmed to me that I will only know when I open my passport. Good luck!

the way the british border agency handles student visa sucks.....

in this day and age, what's so difficult with informing the applicant electronically about the result of his application?......

Because that's the best method to clear the backlog of all passports in BHC possession.

the best way is to add in a return courier fee into the application fee, and send them off once they are processed.........what is another rm30 after demanding rm1000+........

You have to realise that the VFS and UKBA are separate entities.
VFS acts purely as an agency, so their service provided is merely the pre- and post- visa processing.
As such, they do not touch the nitty-gritty of the visa application at all.
Thus it is understandable that they do not inform you about the success of your visa application.

OTOH, I also think it's rather unreasonable to provide a supposed SMS service when it really doesn't add much value to the applicant.
They should clarify what the SMS service provides beforehand;
Not mislead most of us into thinking that the service would include information about the success of the application.

Just another money-making scheme in my opinion.
It may not be intentionally misleading, but still.

EDIT: Oh wait, you're talking about informing electronically right?
Oops. Yeah I agree. Just ignore my rant. smile.gif

like jammies had mentioned, vfs is an agency thus they r not allowed to open ur documents. when u collect ur visa, it will be passed to u in a sealed envelope. It is a strict law by the BHC, as ur documents r all p&c.

Added on September 24, 2010, 5:38 ambtw, anyone using freewire? ... any idea on wat is it? and how to use? ...

there is another way to know it your application is failed.. Open the envelope.. if you dont see a letter infront of all ur document.. means you are safe.. don need to open your passport to know whether it is success or fail.. but you also must check whether the information on the visa correct or not..

which border agency do u mean at first? ... the ones at the airport which checks and chop ur passport? immigration control? the ones working in BHC malaysia? those security guards standing by the side looking at ur face and the luggages u r rolling along? ... man, ur british border agency are so wide, how do u expect ppl to get wat u wanna say? by read through all ur post and those who answered, i am very sure its not just me who so called missed the point, since its not only me, y not u rephrase ur question/words/answers/etc to be a more understandable sentence? before saying that i or the others missed the point ... doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

security guards???!.....wow....

visas are processed by british border agency (previously british border and immigration agency, ukvisas, and hm revenue and customs), through the respective british high commissions(commonwealth countries) and embassies(others)........

ie, you may have sent your application through vfs, to the bhc, but it is processed by bba and they are the ones who make the decision....

so what's so difficult with bba in the msian bhc to send an email to applicants about their visa decision?........and what's so difficult for vfs to courier ALL passports back to applicants......

That's good. Mind telling when you submitted your application?

Friend of mine submitted on 9th Sep, and is waiting impatiently. The most expensive visa with the most teruk service yeah?
