Try 400 and reduce the multi to x8. U'll enjoy more at 1600fsb.  icon_rolleyes.gif

1. pointless anyway, 400FSB it is out of mobo spec, i wouldnt bother running something out of mobo spec. 333 would do good. I got 16 multi, = if use 333FSb =333x16 = 5.333GHz, no way a CPU can hit that high lol.
2. I am using G41 chipset = FSB Cap @ 340.
3. Anything above 3.8GHz voltage requirement skyrocket. I need to hit 1.34-1.35v to get it stable @ 3.83GHz
4. Currently I settle @ 1.29v (0.01v above stock = 1.28v) @ 3.66GHz. all good enough

I've got a question. Currently using the GByte G41M-ES2L, running a Q6600 @ 3.08 @ 334x9 @ 1.344v. Used to be able to hit 3.2GHz on my ol P35-DS3... I'm curious, for your 3.66GHz, what voltage did you set in BIOS? Thanks!

mine is E5800 dual core cpu. 1.29v @ 3.66GHz. (333x11 multi)

stock is 1.28v @ 3.2GHz. (200x16 multi)

Is it true:
lower FSB, high multiplier = lower Vcore
high FSB, lower multiplier = high Vcore~?

I kinda noob in this...

wanna ask, if i just OC abit .. not changing any of the Vcore can?

changing my FSB, ram also effected too?

and if i just add some mhz to it.. RAM test is always must??

Motherboard : Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3
Bios : F10B
Processor : Q6600 with spire eclipse II cooler
PSU : Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus 460W
Ram : Kingston DDR2 800MHz 2GB x 2
VGA : Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT 1GB
HDD : Western Digital 1 Terrabyte

a stable overclock was 3.2Ghz. 400x8. Vcore 1.43. this passed primetest for about 8hours. max temp 59c.

the reason why i couldnt go more is mianly due to my MB. the vdrop was ridiculous @ around 0.05~0.06. and on load 0.09.

and also a high cpu VID which was 1.325. both of this combined and 3.2ghz is the best i can get. if i wanted more, i guess a new mobo is neccessary. however my pc feels pretty good at this point, performs quick, with good temps and acceptable vcore. so ill just remian this way until a good excuse comes up to replace/repair/upgrade! hehe

The TMPIN0 is only displayed for my graphics card.

The CPU temperatures are displayed on cores#0 till 3, but core#0 seems to have the highest readings.

I managed to OC it by 15%, since its on a stock cooler. Temperature hovers near 60C even on idle.

On a side note, may I know how should I change the RAM timings? I have some knowledge on the speed against the clock cycles but I'm lost when it comes to tightening them.

Whats the model of your mobo? I managed to get around 3.00ghz tops with q8200. Trying to go for 3.30ghz but figured 3.00 is already doing good. IMO you should amp up your core voltage, change it to 1.28v.

Update, so my hand got itchy and here are the results, ran p95 for 6 hours with no problem. Tried pushing to 3.33 but the fan got too loud for comfortable use, heck, it will not even boot. Max temp was 61c.

Of course your gaming will get smoother, assuming you have high end cards, with 2.66ghz your cpu is the obvious bottleneck of your system. Simply put, your gpu have to slow its pace to match of those of your cpu. I believe the software are listed on the first page. Read around before you start oc'ing.

processors don't spoil that easily.

meddling with QPI / FSB / Multiplier wouldn't result in a spoil processor, even adding voltage is not an issue unless you're overdoing it.

Hi,
Why the reading is different?
[attachmentid=3048602]
I only increase the multiplier from 9 to 10 and the fsb is stock,at 333MHz.
Any comment?
This is not happen if the multiplier at stock which is at 9.

bumping old thread
reading about BSEL MOD this morning

just now spending some time to play with this chip Core2Duo E7400.

OC at bios, i can set the voltage to +100mV = 1.35V
using this BSEL MOD, the vcore was set to 1.4V
user posted image

the result for OC using BSEL mod vs bios setting is almost the same
result for Aida64 memory benchmark
