thx... resetting the cmos did the trick of eliminating the double boot problem. i later found out tat this is due to a BIOS setting. setting the performance level to anything but AUTO causes the double boot problem. still havent tried to OC since i didnt have time.. will try and post results later.

Added on January 2, 2011, 7:30 pmok.. i tried OCing the board. i get 3.57GHz without increasing the Vcore. FSB 420MHz and multiplier is 8.5... will try to clock it further..

can i know what is the bios settings that you apply to since i am having the double post issue too after overclocking ? icon_question.gif

Hey guys, just wondering, for P45 mobo with Q9550,

is NB voltage = 1.4v normal/safe?

or does it really depend on the temp? if so, what temps do you guys prefer for NB when OCing?

I googled, many of the results I found stated that 1.4v is normal for the OC'er. But I also still want our own Malaysian people's opinion. nod.gif

I always put NB voltage between 1.1v to 1.3v, if over so scarely hehe tongue.gif. If your NB had better cooling maybe u can try 1.4v, just look-out for the temperature. biggrin.gif

i think that TMPIN2 is chipset temp...
try increase a bit your fsb. if got bsod, pump more vcore. but i'd suggest you to keep the vcore below 1.4V. you can oso try set the ram to lower multi to find the highest clock for proc within 1.4vcore.

It's an extremely safe temperature laugh.gif
I'd said it is fine to go up to 95 C on IBT
Don't worry since real world load won't be as stressful as IBT

Thank you bro , Btw , i got my Vcore lowered. Its now running 3.5Ghz @ Vcore 1.32 . Run prime95 for almost 12 hours. And everything was fine. ( Max Temp around 58C on 100% )
Was trying to push it at 3.8Ghz but failed. So i guess 3.5Ghz will be enough smile.gif . ( Try again next week @3.6Ghz. Tried 2 hours ago on prime95 and its good at Vcore 1.34. Will run again next week XD )
Thank you for the clarification smile.gif

Cant wait to get my hand on SB. Still looking for ram.

Hello everyone,

a serious noob here. been reading guides and all but still don't understand the oc-ing terms. Hope the sifus can enlighten me.
Thinking to just go a little further than my stock clock. maybe 3.5ghz? Main confusion is all the 'playing' with fsb / vcore.
and also ratio of dram?? @!$!$omfg headache lol

anyway, here are my pc specs.

QX9650 - stock is 3.0ghz
Asus p5q SE
Corsair Dominator DDR2 1066mhz 2 x 2gb
Cooler Master V8.

Appreciate every1 hu helps smile.gif

Hey guys ,

I wanna know if i can push my core 2 duo e6320 1.86ghz to 3.7ghz or above

This is my spec :

Intel Core 2 Duo 1.86GHz ( Overclocked to 2.86Ghz ) 400fsb limit 700fsb
4GB DDR2 RAM
Cooler Master USP 100
450 Aztech PSU
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus
ATI HD5450 1GB DDR3
MSI G31TM-P31

I am able to push my overclock to 2.86GHz right now with the graphic card also get overclocked using the 450W PSU ..
My cpu temp is 25 degree celsius and my gpu is 36 degree celsius .... my room temp is about 26 degree celsius ( without air conditioner )

So right now i wonder if i buy a 600W PSU ,Can i overclock above 3.7Ghz ?

And also ,

How to make gpu and cpu more cooler ? , i can't afford to buy stuff above rm200 .... so right now , i'm keep pushing using this pc until i get money and buy new pc .....

If you guys have any idea on modding my pc component ,kindly give a suggestion ....

please ,no bad comment ... i'm still new in this ....
