That's not even a truepower psu to start with, that explains the sucky-ness of the psu.
Nice clock for 1.5v vcore, how much is the load temps and what hsf did u you use to cool this beast ?
*
the load temp was sated in the everest bro wink.gif very nice temps for 1.5v!! air.conditioned room is it? sweat.gif

as you can see,the 1st core's reading was way off than the other cores. rclxub.gif

what am i going to do? lol =x

so it is always like that with everyone else?

btw, whats the max 'safe' temps for Q9550? i mean what temp reading i should be avoiding from reaching? i wanna try 4GHz later but afraid of over high temp.huhu.

Anybody?
*
bro,go to the bios. change ur ram divider. for ur mobo, i think its called "System Memory Multiplier".from there, choose the option that will change ur ram to 1066.

okay. what about CPU voltage?
*
u wanna run at stock speed or wanna OC it? if stock speed, u can determine your stock CPU voltage using Real Temp(check for the CPU VID).then, set ur voltage according to it.

Hmm... i oc-ed to 3.2GHz..

The VID was 1.325V. Even after I raised it, it was still the same.

I raised it to 1.45v. Was running Sp2004 for 20 min then it restarted..

have you tried adding the CPU termination(a.k.a. vtt), CPU PLL, and MCH core? those numbers can really help in OC.

Adding those voltage a little.if still not stable, try adding again until u get stable setup la.hoho.

i suggest u go search for OC guide and read them 1st b4 OCing.

QUOTE(hazairi @ Mar 8 2009, 12:44 AM)
Need some advice guys..
I'm using E7400 (default speed is at 2.8Ghz) with Kingston cheap RAM DDR2 667Mhz.

Tried to overclock it to 3.15Ghz using the default multiplier, 10.5.
300x10.5
The memory speed I set to 'auto' and after the overclock, the memory speed goes up to 750Mhz.

The question I wanna ask, in order for me to go way higher:

1) Should I stay with the default multiplier? 10.5
2) Should I let the system auto overclock my memory speed?
3) When should I adjust the vCore?

And give me some tips to make my OC more stable..
thanks!
*
dear bro.it is better to OC one component at a time. nod.gif

1)yup,just stay there. unless u wanna wanna find your FSB wall, then set to lowest mulitplier.

2)since now u wanna OC ur proc,i suggest u set the memory speed to clock speed by changing the ram multiplier (for your case, its 667MHz).

3)try OC a little with stock voltage.when fail at stock voltage, increase vcore just a little and test again.keep increasing little by little only until u get a stable system.

sry there.edited.its stock speed.

so,u should set your memory speed to stock speed at or near 667MHz.

actually, if ur processor can hit high fsb, better u set ur ram speed to run at 533, this way, it'll make ur dram: fsb ratio to be 1:1 and avoid ur ram from bottlenecking the oc. U need to try various settings on different type of mobo to set the ratio to 1:1. Boards like gigabyte allows u to select it directly others would have its own way of selecting it. Do note that, the 1:1 is only applicable to Intel chipset and on high-end Nvidia boards like 680i, 780i, selecting 1:1 is wrong, coz the nvidia architecture is a little different.
*
ohoo yeah.ur right, lowering the memory speed below stock is better in order to reach higher fsb. why didnt i thought of that. sweat.gif

@efilah,, pity u need high vcore for it @@ mine jz 1.175 to run 3.6ghz biggrin.gif

haha.my vid alone is already 1.25v. my dfi board cant set lower vcore than vid. =x how unlucky hoho

Hey guys, just wondering, for P45 mobo with Q9550,

is NB voltage = 1.4v normal/safe?

or does it really depend on the temp? if so, what temps do you guys prefer for NB when OCing?

I googled, many of the results I found stated that 1.4v is normal for the OC'er. But I also still want our own Malaysian people's opinion. nod.gif

I always put NB voltage between 1.1v to 1.3v, if over so scarely hehe tongue.gif. If your NB had better cooling maybe u can try 1.4v, just look-out for the temperature. biggrin.gif
*
what the NB temp value that's safe for you? hehe

I always use hand touch the NB chips, if cannot handle over then 5 second, i will consider it over temp hehe tongue.gif

I see. easy to follow then. hehe. thanks.
