Surprisingly, he can still lunge in on Konchesky...Thought, that would at least break his tissue-paper-made legs into pieces.

QUOTE
Cole wants title for Stevie
Reds midfielder feels skipper deserves to win Premier League
By Mike Barton

Joe Cole has admitted that Liverpool team-mate Steven Gerrard deserves to win a Premier League medal and will strive to make the dream a reality.

The new Reds midfielder arrived at Anfield from Chelsea with a glittering collection of honours, including three title medals, something Gerrard has never won.

The England and Liverpool skipper does have a Champions League medal to his name however, which Cole did not manage to achieve with the Blues.

Gerrard has often stated his burning desire to win the title, which would complete the set for a player who has won every other major honour English football has to offer, and Cole is desperate to help get him what he wants.

"He's a tremendous player. I've known Steven since I was 17 or 18 and I obviously trained and played with him for England for 10 years so I know what he's all about," he said

"But when you see him in a Liverpool shirt he's even better. A player like him deserves to win the championship.
Fantastic player

"I know that's what he wants over the next four to five years at the club.

"He's a fantastic player and if he plays well the team plays well and it's up to me now to assist him and try to help the club move on."

Cole has endured a difficult start to his career at Anfield, but is likely to return to the starting line-up to face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday after serving a three-game ban.

Liverpool have not been in inspired form under new boss Roy Hodgson so far, but the 28-year-old insisted the team would come good once settled.

"All the lads here have got belief in what the manager wants us to do and the new signings have looked good," he added.

"It's a rebuild for us but we're doing all right, and we just need to keep improving slowly and gradually."

Hm, I wouldn't rant about how RH positioned the team yesterday.

Started 4-2-3-1. Conceded 2 goals, no change, but there's still time. Luck was on our side for that few minutes and we converted both dead ball.

At 2-2, RH not only maintained the formation, removed lesser productive Maxi with Ngog and from there we were 4-4-2. He was definitely going for a win. Next, he replaced Meireles with Jovanovich which I believe was because of Jova's pace and strength to hit on the counter.

Anyone disagree with me he was going for the win? Very unfortunate, Berbatov converted another chance.

On another note, a change of manager means new players. Yesterday we had 4 new players(Cole, Meireles, Konchesky & Poulsen) on starting line-up. We've gone lesser than 10 competitive games if I'm not mistaken. Without Kuyt, I think we would need a little more time to gel and play as a unit. How much time? No one can tell.

We had the fighting spirit yesterday. We didn't just die. We attacked and gained the penalty and freekick. My opinion, defence was very unusual but we tried to fought back and got that 2 goals.

It was AFTER NGOG that Liverpool leveled.

pacheco should be given first team opportunities, especially when we need more flair in the attacking department.

Good having you there buddy. As much as you think it's the organisers that make an event a success, the fans play a more important role. It's like I said last night, it's only half time. They still have to come to Anfield. I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing but we're a different proposition at home.

I've got a sore jaw man. When we scored our 2nd, some over exhuberant bloke grabbed my face with his arm and darn well nearly dislocated my jaw smile.gif
You're like an energizer bunny dude smile.gif Keep your enthusiasm but it's like I said lah, we need to be realistic as well. Your prediction of a win over the mancs didn't come true unfortunately. In fact, we are getting worse. I don't remember playing this bad at Old Toilet is a long time. The only time Van Der Sar had anything to do was when he picked the ball from the back of the net. We only scored because the mancs gave away some silly fouls. Having said that, I don't know how O'Shea managed to stay on the pitch. Some 4 seasons ago, Hyypia was sent off in the 4th minute for a similar offence, and this was out wide. O'Shea's foul was clear and it was in a central, more threatening position. That aside, we offered nothing as an attacking force and I can now understand why Hodgson's Fulham were abysmal away.

In one of my moans last week, I brought up the issue of how fragile we look in the air and Berbatov exposed it like a sore thumb last night. It was as though our players were 5' nothing. Torres was too busy humping Berbatov and Carragher had lead in his boots.

Here's another moan. Maxi was invisible last night. Also, I think we should have brought on Babel when play opened up late in the game.

Que Sera Sera.

Hyppia's foul on Ruud was central and in the box Duke, it resulted in a peno. And it was not 4 seasons ago, it was 2003.

The only defense I can think of on why O'Shea wasn't sent off because it was probably not a clear goalscoring opportunity seeing that VDS would have gotten there first anyways??

Just one fella should begone: Tom Hicks. Unsettle players, making them doubt their future in the club. Man I was hoping you guys can snatch some point from them. But meh. sad.gif

you sure about that?

i felt pepe did poorly for the man u game.. could have been better... he had no reaction to the 2nd and 3rd goal (yes i know that they were traveling at fast speed) but i felt he could have done abit better.

we should have started with 4-4-2... torres cant play alone up front...and we all know gerrard is better suited at cm/am/ss...maxi didnt help us either... it was only when Ngog came on that we became 4-4-2 and allowed torres to make more run-ins.

There you go. I stand corrected.

On the O'Shea incident, it was one of those which could have resulted in a sending off in another time, another place.

I still can't really comprehend the red card appeal, Torres was nowhere near the ball and was only running towards it (not even with the ball towards the goal), so it is not a foul of preventing a goal scoring opportunity..or maybe i'm just not clear with the rule. It does seem like a last man foul, but the fact that he is not even targetting the goal makes the "goal-scoring opportunity" part invalid and thus not a red card? hmm.gif
