Again it is not the result the matter, it is the performance concern the most!

So far, the performance is as good as relegation fighting team.
As soon as I watch for 30 min, I just wish the match ended now, with 0-0.

Reviewing the 1st goal
I was shock to see Torres marked Berbatov (opponent player that you know is threat to the goal) when corner kick time????
Torres is not known for its aerial ability and defending!

well imo u r wrong, torres is one of our better players who heads well, besides the likes of skrtel krygy and kuyt. u c, torres is an aggresive player, and with full match fitness n better body language, m sure he can out-muscle berba, m just disappointed with how he defended, as a striker, he knows that u have to be infront of your marker to win a header, hence vice versa when defending, i just didnt know what was he thinking there, being behind berba n backing away instead of going for the ball n win it. something is wrong in his mind, i guess he miss rafa tongue.gif

Tactically we lost to ManU, we can see they are attack on flank and yet we don't have players to keep them busy. Seem every time Manu has amble of spare and time during attack from flank. I believe we still can play good football, RH should have more confident on the team and dare to make changes. Even he opt for safe game, we still can't acheive anything, Why not just throw a tactic asuming he has the best players in the world. Play a match wining game instead of opt for draw.
Nani is slowly become the dark side. tongue.gif

nice try Liverpool. Should've been a draw. Webb made a huge mistake for not sending oshea off. clearly the last man holding Torres back.

To be fair,
Liv has been getting away from several potential penalty in the past few games even this game, especially our defenders nowadays like to holds on opponent shirt during set-piece and corner kick time. sweat.gif

Even it ended up a draw, there still lot of worry on the performance side.

Did great?
Score a penalty and a freekick (which defender should brave enough to block the ball instead avoid it) is not something to proud about.

There is virtual zero threat to VDS for the entire match.

Good performance?? Did I watch the wrong match?
It is lucky that come back from 2-0, but yet defending is still dismay.

Liv only plays better for 15-20 period, other than that, it is just like attacking vs defending practice which Liv is the end of the defending side.

From my pov, zero point.

AF makes a sensible comment and hit the nail on the head.

Perhaps a good response?
At least give some credits?

The foul that leads to the penalty, what else can you say?
J.Evans had no contact with the ball, brought down Torres, a clear penalty there..

Next, nice through ball from R.Meireles that is able to set Torres a 1 on 1 situation with the keeper before J.O.Shea brought him down..
In fact, it should be a red card for O Shea as he was the last defender..

Anyway, for me, Joe Cole the man of the match smile.gif

Added on September 20, 2010, 12:55 amAnd, dont forget, it is Old Trafford...
Not many teams can perform good football at Old Trafford stadium...

Lets see our next match against Sunderland at Anfield 25/9/10 22:00....

LFC currently placed at 16th, 1 point clear the relegated zone... roy need to lay more attacking / fast game tactic. LFC is not FULHAM.

Yes losing at Old Trafford isn't far from losing at Stamford Bridge, they are both one of the toughest place to go in the whole of football world.

Let's asses our opponents instead. We lost because of the brilliance and form of Berbatov...if the out of form Rooney were to get all 3 of his chances, the max he can convert is only 2 of them. Berbatov's stunning overhead kick is probably one of the best goals this season. Vidic was very good in all aerial challenges and he had a very good game.

Carra just had a bad game after he saved our skins lots of time, so be easy on him yea? Konchesky and Meireles looked a lil bit tired in the end , thats why RH have to sub them out. Cole's touches too look out of sorts in the final 20 mins or so.

Yes our performance is weak, but we have quite a number of positives to take from this one. Torres's run is menacing and our new signings did pretty well against a top team today, neat in keeping the ball.

In short, we were slaughtered by the fantastic Berbatov today. Tonight sure is his night, all his touches and shots were good and accurate. The other teams will be watching him from today on...

my take on our away game at old trafford.

1. no confidence/creativity in attacking
2. no fluidity in passing
3. no accuracy in short/long passes
4. poor ball control
5. poor arial defending

it was like watching MALAYSIAN league team.. sigh.. doh.gif

i've been reading some of the comments about poulsen.. and i must disagree. he looks as though he was strolling by the beach.. jogging here and there without really engaging the opponents.. not pressuring them enough..

but.. on the plus side.. meireles looked okay in midfield.. hopefully he can dictate the game from midfield soon.. same goes to j.cole..

i can't say anything positive other than that from that game.. we can only HOPE (as we normally do as a liv fan) for the best for our future matches..

just to share my thoughts.. i'm now incline to agree with my friend's (also a kop) quote about liverpool.. "new faces.. same shit.."

The way I saw it, the free kick was a well trained set piece. You can see that one of our player pushed the wall and the ManU player responded by pushing him back which created a hole in the wall. And for Gerrard to shoot exactly at that small gap is just brilliant.

wow, after reading through so many pages, not even a single one of you mentioned NGOG??
Have you guys noticed it was after Ngog came in, then we had the 2 goals?

Before Ngog, Torres had nowhere to run, being heavily marked by defenders, he could do minimal damage. I barely saw a great run from him before Ngog.

After Ngog, Torres was freed up a bit and resulting in better runs and eventually got us the penalty and free kick. Also, I could see Ngog almost everywhere around the pitch. He even ran all the way back to our D box to snatch the ball off scholes' feet!

This kid is maturing and will be a key player soon. I rated him and Babel very high, however Babel is still finding it difficult to shine. Ngog is showing a glimpse of his potential. Although he didn't score, he made a big impact in the game!

Other than that, I think you guys should go easy on the team.

Although the team lost, I'm still happy in supporting Liverpool FC. When I heard "You'll Never Walk Alone" when we're down 2-0, it again reassures me that we are supporting the best club in the world. No matter the team are ahead or trailing, we're still backing them up.

Maxi was rather useless so no suprise when Ngog come replacing him, the team seems a bit more dangerous because they have to mark him and not torres alone. before that torres been mark very tightly leaving him no space to create an opening.

the team 2nd half was better than the 1st.. but still lacking the fluidity and composure. though it pains me to admit but IMHO we deserve the beating.

I'm still hopeful of the team.
Although we lost today, at least we capitalized on the opportunities given to us.

Yes MU won this game but we must know that what goes around comes around. This is football. Last season we won 4-1 and now we got beaten 3-2. I'm fine with it.

What important now is how the team pick themselves up after the fall. Same goes to life!

Let's look on the bright side, at least Torres is recovering to his former form and now that Ngog is slowly picking up his form. I hope that the team will do better.

The team MUST do better from now onwards. This season's first 5 games is probably the toughest start we've had to the season in recent memory. Now that's out of the way, the team needs to pick up as many points as possible. Torres will come back to form when the midfield plays to its potential and provides the service he requires. Ngog is improving all the time and I believe he will make quite an impact on the team's season. I have faith that we will be better in the upcoming games. Season's still only 5 games old. After 38, hopefully we'll be back in the top 4 again. biggrin.gif

I seriously thought Reina could have done better with the 2nd and third goal. For the 2nd, he didnt even try to save it...Just stood there and let it in.If he try and jump and it still went in, I have nth to say.The thing is he didnt even try anything!same goes with the 3rd, made the wrong judgement.A slight of confusion in him maybe...The normal reina could have save it...

Liverpool played pretty well. It is not embarassing defeat, however I'd expect a draw/win tho.
