Is he talking about the owners? I guess that was quite obvious since he was grateful to Rafa. It must be the owners then. If I were him, I'd move to, wouldn't you Rushmode?

I think it's fair for him to voice out to let us fans know how the owners are treating the players. Broken promises.

I foresee the same will happen to Torres end of this season if things don't change.

how serious is the 'broken promise' until masch took a paycut to join barca?

now that he has moved away, i dont see why he cant just say it.

players like stevie, torres, were wiling to stay in times on transition.

and one more thing, i dont remember getting anything from lfc website saying about masch and his family thing, which means, the so called 'lies' could have been from the media...

all in all i'm disappointed he left, but then again, if we play better without him, then i'm ok lol

As you brought this up,

this is what Mascherano said,
"When they started to involve my family and to say things that didn't make sense, I obviously suffered," he said. "They'd promised me something for a whole year and they never fulfilled their promise. And that didn't have anything to do with my family or anything else. When you read or hear lies, you obviously get angry."

Firstly, do you know what did they promise and fail to deliver? Who are they?
Secondly, how did he hurt the fans? Particularly how did he hurt you?
*
i'm lazy to look for the article where he said from his own mouth that he wanted to move because of family problem and not because of liverpool.

He did wanted to leave ever since last year when Rafa is here didn't him? So what actually was the broken promise offered to him anyway? Doesn't seem to add up.

And your last sentence sounds arrogant.. Maybe its a bit over the top when I said he hurting the fans.. maybe i'm wrong but based on what he said

"I'd also like to thank the club for their efforts. They've spent a lot of money and it was my duty to give way a bit to make this dream come true. When this chance came up I didn't hesitate. I've joined the best club in the world and the best team in the world."

made it looks like his time at liverpool is hell and could not stay any longer. mind you liverpool also invest a lot of money for him. he thanks rafa (which is right) but still its the club money that paid kia joorabichian and his 70k a week salary..

i just wanted to share that guardin link thats all.. i will now shut up about masch. lets bygone be bygone. icon_rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(vreis @ Aug 28 2010, 02:11 PM)
No doubt Masch is highly committed to us when he was here, but somehow his way of forcing a transfer put a bitter taste in the mouth.
There's always 2 sides of coin. While its well known, that he already informed of his wish to leave, he still has a contract to honour. If everyone in contract acting as he is, what will becomes of the club that give him the contract. I'm not questioning his "family reason" but as everyone knows footballers can be a fickle bunch, read C Ronalda "im a modern slave comment" to force through a move.
That said, even if he did gave us another season, problem is the interest of the one who paid his transfer fee & wages have to be taken into account which id LIVERPOOL FC have to be met for transfer to materialised. Previously Inter & barca offer a derisory figure, so u lot expect the club to let him go just because of his personal problem. What if barca offer ZERO fee, should we let him go on humanitary ground? Its not the club fault for no other clubs come in with acceptable figure so why sit out to victimised the club that pay ur wages? its not like the club threaten others who dare put in a bid.
To put it into perspective, if u signed a contract with a company with good pay yet u wanna get out of the contract, the only way is to pay compensation, thats the way it is. Do u try to forced the company to rescind your contract by not turning up to work? No difference from what the club wants. The way to avoid this is to signed short term contract but players want security hence they signed long term, by signing it, Im sure their agents go thru everthing in the contract.
Everything has a risk, incld "Family matters", so why signed for foreign clubs when you dunno whether you can settled? by signing means u willing to take the risk or why not buy out your own contract. Players want everything things go their ways, thats the problem. In short they want good pay with escape clauses, which is sadly too unfair to a club.

Think I understand rushmode sentiment which I shared.
Btw the way the more each side open mouth, the bitter it becomes.

You say you want to move away from the Masherano issue and yet you guys keep attacking him. I find it really disheartening that Liverpool fans adopt the guilty until proven innocent mentality. Makes us no different from other fans so please stop gloating and claiming that we are better or different. Masch is being crucified despite the real story not being known to us. He took a pay cut to join Barcelona so the situation obviously isn't as clear cut. Amidst all that has been said, he did say 1 poignant point, that Liverpool will always be in his heart. This tells me that it isn't the club he has an issue with, it's the management/board/new owners and if this is so who can blame him? We complan about the same thing each day, no? Purslow, Gillet, Hicks?

If it's true he refused to play and moved for selfish reasons, then fairplay but is there any? You may ask me if there is proof to prove otherwise but I ask you again, is this how we should treat a player that gave no less than 100% whenever he was played? That we should assume the worst of him and not the best?

Why should we "move on" from this issue anyway? It's current news no?

I am a more realistic person.
Realistic expectation, or hope is get 4th place into CL, that's what I am predicting/expecting/hoping.

It is not about losing 1 matches and draw 1 matches or just because a 2 poor result that conclude we can win or can't win, it is the team play, personnel, that doesn't look like a ruthless and can win comfortably every match.
Unlike the top 3 teams, that almost every week, we know they can brush aside easily most teams and only occassionally slip up, Liv can't show this kind of character/form, or whatever term you named it.
It is unlike in 80's time, whenever Liv plays, we 90% confident, the team can win. Now even can struggle against mid to lower league table team and fail to create much and under pressure or have no control on midfield.

Yes, I am much agree, once players left, don't need to badmouth about previous issue. Things move on.

He didnt take a paycut as far as I m concerned because he didnt sign a new contract. In other words, he was still underpaid while he was with us.

Let Masch say whatever he wants - he's no longer a Red. Generally, Argies are temperamental and when they are upset, they cannot control themselves (remember Masch's national team boss Maradona's outburst?).

Back to our team. I'd be very happy if we can get back into the CL and quite elated if we manage to win something this season. One of my worries is Gerrard. He's been blowing hot and cold, and shows more interest wearing an England shirt than Liverpool's. Hopefully, his performance against WBA is down to his match fitness but I remember seeing Torres being more willing to run after the ball and closing down WBA's defenders than his captain. Just hope that RH can talk some sense into him. You know alot of these Brits are rather immature these days, not to mention footballers. Sometimes we forget that. That's why having a coach/manager who can also be a mentor is so critical.

Of course, as a mentor he must communicate with his players and that's where the previous manager failed. That's why I remain optimistic that better days are ahead for us.

Come on RH, ... and come on you Reds!

What I'd like to see is the team become less reliant on Torres. He's not had the best support and too often, we give him the ball, expecting him to conjure something out of nothing. Since he's raided Fulham, I really wish we could have pried Clint Dempsey away. Our attacking options are so limited and too often, we look blunt as we did against West Brom.

do u mean average premier league match or anfield ticket? last time was 33 quids, but i read this season the price increased.

chelsea among the easiest to get the ticket. u can buy 5 tickets online. emirates at that time was the most expensive, around 35-37 quids.

the championship league around 20+ quids.

but these prices was in 2007. i dont know now.
*
Various for different clubs, prices in UK has gone up i think due to the lower exchange rate. sweat.gif

this season in Anfield Tier A 45P, Tier B 41P, Tier C 39P + 2.5P for service charge if you buy online, super hard to grab tickets as they run out real fast.

my advice is to aim for Europa League games instead

For Arsenal you need pay to be some sort of member and they'll rebate you when you buy match tickets, heard this from my mate

As far as I know, Masch accepted a paycut of 20% less than original amount that Barca had offered him so that the money can be used to finance his transfer fee as Barca is reluctant to pay the price that Liverpool had asked. Still his current wage is higher than what we paid him before.
