Not fix partially mate, completely. Also the new clocks now save battery power and you should get above 3 hour minimum on batts now If you are one of the lucky few who can underclock to 100/300, there are reports of battery life above 4 hours on the G73JH

Yup, I'm off now to really test the new vBios. I will run SC2 and some graphic intensive games and report back here

I decided to see what would happen if I updated my drivers to 10.8 without updating stock BIOS and vBIOS, and i promptly got black screen of death on furmark and sc2.
Anyway I chickened out and restored from disk image so things are back to normal now. Haven't worked up the guts to update BIOS and vBIOS yet seeing that everything works OK on my lappy with stock BIOS and drivers..

But keep us updated bro.. p.s. my temps are still OK.. went up to 92.5 max once when playing SC2.

Pls let me know what fps you are getting on SC2.

Jeffrey, I am afraid I don't know what to suggest for your problem except doing what I did not have the b**s to do (update BIOS, vBIOS and drivers). Maybe you could ask the notebookreview people.

EDIT: What browser crashes? Tried with FF, IE and Chrome? Could be a Flash issue or sound drivers.

It should be fine running as ur pci-e x16 is running at full speed(x16).

i am playing sc2 with ultra mode and is not smooth.. the lag occur in the interval method.. is it cause by HD?

How bout you guys? experience anything similar?

playing pirate? It shouldn't lag, but maybe there's something factors like HDD could be an issue to the lag.

Hmm, your vBios looks like the stock version. Try this, download AMD GPU Clock Tool and set you clocks to 705/1100. Does the lag happen the entire session or the first few minutes after you start the game? If it lags the entire gaming session on stock clocks (700/1000) set to the clocks above and tell me how it went. The lag s due to your GPU almost GSODing but somehow it manage to recover itself. With the new vBios, it happens on the first 5~15 minutes of running Furmark,SC 2, etc. but after the GPU warms up it doesn't happen that often. The moment your GPU chokes and is unable to recover you will get a GSOD/black screen, etc.

10.8 really fixed the performance hit on AA, previously benchmarking SFIV my framerate will drop by 10-20fps if 4x AA, now my woes are history. but somehow the AA doesn't work on SC2 using catalyst settings.

Hmmm, that's weird. ATI released 10.7a just to enable AA in SC2 and the code should be carried forward into 10.8, I don't use AA so I'm not sure. I will check later and report back.

Actually it's not about breaking it or not. Seriously the stock vBios code is atrocious. The measly 2hours battery life is caused by the high clocks. With the new vBIos this issue is resolved. Running on stock Catalyst is never an option because newer games will never be able to run on it

Yup, new vbios and catalyst 10.8 seems to allow more low profile operating hours on ur stealth fighter.

I think newer games shud be able to run on it but taking a big performance beating, i notice this big time on SC2, before the GSOD fix, i was taking my chances against GSOD rather than going back to using Catalyst 10.1
