Once I have put the micro-sim card to the iPad, do I need to set a certain setting in order to start my 3G wireless access??
YES. You need key in APN settings : Settings/cellular data/apn settingsApple iPad Discussion Thread v3, Everything about iPad

That is not entirely true and that is what caused me to lose r,4 or 2 days of access on ky digi package. I gist cut, put in, see the digi bar and then thought. My 3G is working and did not try to enter the pan till later (3days later). I just open up safari and then Internet is automatic. Do not even need to key in anything.

@wyyam: "Mi-Fi" is a Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspot. It's a mini wireless router that is powered by batteries. You just need to enter your SIM card into the "Mi-Fi", setup the "APN" (provided by your telco provider) and start sharing your wireless broadband connection. The downside to it is that it only lasts a few hours but you can share your wireless broadband connection to a few users instead of plugging the Micro-SIM into your iPad and only you can enjoy your wireless broadband connection. You can also setup WEP on your Mi-Fi.
@arthurlwf: Yes, you need to setup your "APN". It's provided by your telco provider. |

@S2000-: There is no iPad in Malaysia officially. It's only available through 3rd-party sellers like users selling in the "Garage Sales"-section.
If you buy it (iPad 3G + Wi-Fi) from Singapore or USA, you can use your Micro-SIM in your iPad. You just needa' setup the "APN"-information. The "APN"-information is provided by your telco provider (Maxis/Digi/Celcom). The expected price through 3rd-party sellers is about RM2650 - RM3000. You pay a premium because they bring it in specially from SG or other countries which have the iPad (officially). |

QUOTE(bidfordun @ Sep 23 2010, 10:00 PM) Thanks for sharing , guys. Guess I m back to square one on the streaming Video to my iPad. Is there any simpler ways for us newbies? Added on September 24, 2010, 11:21 amBy the way, the mifi price in here are almost on par with Digi & Maxis. If there is no major differences, then would you guys agree I should get it outright from those telcos, in view of convenient in service or warranty claim? QUOTE(NXaqua @ Sep 24 2010, 11:17 AM) Thanks for sharing , guys. If you wish to view videos in Apple's supported format : AIR VIDEO is simple and most important is fast - a 1.5 hour movie takes about 20-25 minutes compared to using example Handbrake to convert ( an hour plus ).Guess I m back to square one on the streaming Video to my iPad. Is there any simpler ways for us newbies? If you dont want to use this and willing to view it in its default formats eg avi, mov, mkv etc then use Cinexplayer ( free ) or VLC ( free ) but you still need to transfer the video files over thro iTunes which is pretty fast |

I thought for VLC it is just a remote control to control the VLC Player on your PC i.e. you can't view the movie on the Ipad but it controls the VLC player on your PC. Maybe I downloaded the wrong VLC app |

I was wondering how come Msia do not have IPad (Officially by Msia MAC Store)?
Appreciate your reply. Guess I need to get one from Spore then. Jus checked online MAC SPore selling at SGD1228 for IPAD 64G WIFI+3G. Lets say after conversion (* 2.4) is ard RM2947.20. Possible to get cheper than this at LYN Garage Sale section and it comes with locked or unlocked version? Thanks.
