My colleague has iPhone 3GS on Maxis iValue plan. He is asking me how he can use iPad to connect to the Internet with iPhone iValue plan? Does he need to get additional devices/modem or he only needs to configure settings: in iPhone or in iPad?
*
In order to connect internet thru your iPhone is to jailbreak it.
It's not possible to further discuss here.

So it's a US set huh? Anyone else can confirm this?

Thanks notworthy.gif

Go to the website I gave you earlier : key in serial number and select country as USA - if it appears than is confirmed. Anyway your set mention AT&T and so from there it shows is USA

Hi bro the link that you gave me, https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do...... I enter the serial number and select any country and the result are the same... it's not telling me the unit's origin.

You have to choose the country. Select USA and if indeed is USA you will see the next window

He can try asking Maxis at the Maxis center that he wants to use the SIM sharing service. Get Maxis to issue a new micro sim card and you should use it for the iPad. Technically for SIM sharing services, voice calls would be the one affected meaning either sim can be the one picking it up but since the iPad is purely for data purposes only, then it works that way.

But with Maxis launching their own iPad plans, they might not provide that service.

Just to share on this, I did went to Maxis to ask about their multi sim sometime back. However, according to the sales guy, you can only use 1 sim card at a time. So this means that if you activate the sim card on your iPad, you cannot receive any calls from the sim card on your phone.

I've been using multi-sim card for a few years now. You can have up to 5 sim cards in 5 devices with one phone number. However, only one sim card can be active at one time, meaning- only one device can be used to receive sms and voice calls. The other sim cards in your other devices/phone can still be used to make calls, send texts, surf, etc. They just can't receive any incoming calls or texts.

With the ipad, i'd just enable the sim in my phone active and use the sim in the ipad for data only.

Thanks for the clarification. So when you enable your sim for your iPad does it mean that your phone doesn't have any data usage? Or can you choose to enable it on your iPad only when you want to use it?

If you enable the sim in the ipad, calls and sms'ses will go to your ipad and not to your phone. At that same time, you can use your phone to still make calls, send sms, browse web etc.
In a normal ipad, not sure calls will go through so most likely it will be sent to voicemail.

@agito
I think the multi-sim is for postpaid only. The monthly charge for additional sim is rm15. This is not including the charge for data, calls, sms.
