Speaking of customs, has anyone ever tried Future Sonics customs? I've never seen any mention of anyone using them here.

BTW it shouldn't be as expensive as those multi driver BA customs right?
Maybe it will be my first custom IEM......in 2 or 3 years. laugh.gif

Very. Not top of the line Final Audio Design expensive, but expensive nonetheless, and better sounding. They're like the Formula 1 of the IEM world. Not all of them are "that" good, but surely beats the crap out of every other ones out there.

I'm not sure how they do it either. All I know is, you have to get an ear impression.

RM400? You mean turning an ordinary Future Sonics into a custom?
If you go to the Future Sonics website, there is a custom that uses an entirely different driver. They're called the mg5pro and the mg6pro.
And from international prices, they're considerably cheaper compared to multi driver BA customs(which is to be expected), but still around RM3k+.

I'm surprised they didn't get as much attention since the founder of Future Sonics is basically the father of on stage ear monitors. biggrin.gif
Very interested here, but in 2-3 years la. tongue.gif

No, its not a custom, its a Universal IEM.

Customs are when you have to do a mould of your ears, which will be sent to the manufacturer to make it a perfect fit for your ears.

AFAIK, Jaben has that M5 as well

The M5 is from FS's universal line. Now it has a new driver, the 10mm MG7.
The mg5pro and the mg6pro uses new 10mm and 13mm drivers respectively.
I've only read review of the old Ear Monitors with the older driver. According to that review, from subjective hearing the Ear Monitors really sings. The imaging and soundstage, the bass(of course biggrin.gif ), and what's more the realism. Everything sounds realistic and true to life.

Looking at the graph however, there are some ugly dips in certain freq that suggests some recessed vocals and other stuff. Then again it could be intentional. Remember FS makes the Ear Monitors for stage purposes and they are the pioneer in it. So those freq dips are meant to be there so that they reproduce what you actually hear from live concert speakers. Maybe that's what contributed to their "real-life" sound.

After reading that review, I am really interested in having these as my first ever custom. Of course, I'd have to get a proper job, save a lot of money and move to a place close enough to Jaben Malaysia. laugh.gif laugh.gif

audiophiles are ppl who appreciate the songs that they listen in the highest possible quality and with the best equipment that suits the music that they listen to and their own preferences.

there's no such thing as the all perfect earphones/headphones/iem. it all depends on the person and their audio preferences. there are very good gear that fits certain sound signatures. so it is important to figure out what kind of sound signature you like and then go test out the gear yourself. different ppl have different preferences and audio is a very subjective matter.

hope that is a good explanation. tongue.gif

p.s. sorry for the long explanation. i'm a little free right now just wanted to kill time biggrin.gif

I have a budget setup(Hippo Gumstick and SoundMAGIC PL50) and it can already show a noticeable difference between 192 kbps and 320 kbps mp3. A higher end setup can go a step further and you can probably differentiate between different codecs.

That is if your ears are up to it.

well.. you dont need high end stuff to notice the diff.. even my ipod + hippo box and DT231 pro can differentiate losses and 320 kbps very noticeably..
