Yeah I know, even on my budget setup I can hear the difference. 320 mp3 and flac can be differentiated(and I did a blind test with the help of a friend), definitely not placebo. What I meant was that a high end setip can go that step further until to the point you can even tell between LAME mp3 and Fhg, or mp3 and a comparable nero AAC, <--I'm not up to that yet.

Ans Showguy, I rip my CDs to flac, so those are my only sources of flac. I have stunbled upon flac on the internet but I dunno if they're the kinda music you're into. What kinda music do you like? Because the genres do affect what quality is being uploaded on the net(due to the people that listen to them).

Ooooooh. Very rarely are these artists' songs are uploaded in flac. In fact I don't think I ever found any. I do see a lot of Muse, 3 Doors Down, and an uncountable amount of orchestral recordings and acoustic recordings being uploaded in FLAC. Most you can find are probably in high quality mp3.

Yeah. Once you move to higher end, source files become more important. If we can hear differences with out current setup, I wonder what horrors we might find moving to higher end.

how to get flac format from cd?
i've rip once using wmp but only got lossless wav format.
is there any software or anything to get the flac format?

Get the flac plug in, or if you can live with wmv loseless, can use it as well.

Quite a number of their songs, lossless or not the quality of those songs makes it hard to differentiate to a point that it doesn't matter. Mostly from their earlier work.

Have you searched for it in Google?
Actually it's pretty simple. I haven't used foobar to play CDs, but the songs should come up as a list. Right click on one and look for "Convert".

If you don't see flac as an "output format" option, download the plugin. Search with Google.

I thought only APE need plugin?

Actually I'm as baffled as you are. I have a flac encoder already.
