I find the Radius ok... but still, it does not satisfy me.

Hmm. So basically Radius unburned sounds weird? Might explain it then. Maybe if someone has a pair already burned in, I might try that one. But still-- Radius doesn't quite fit my ear comfortably, so maybe the sound was affected due to that.

Add another RM40, get the Shroom EB, very nice. More clarity compared to Hippo Pearl. Of course, best way to find out what suits you is to go to Jaben and test kaw kaw.

Sherwood SE777 has magnificent synergy with the Linearossa W1 amp. I actually got the amp and planned to get a pair of the Sherwood, but have since changed up targets and am about to let the amp go...

I'm going straight to the top. No point d*cking around with mid tier for me. After hearing all the high end stuff, I buy mid-end or different signatured lower range stuff will only waste my $$, time and make me heartsick with longing for better sound. Have KSC75, Shroom EB to cover my needs, and the Ordnance DAC, all is good. Next stop: Symphonica HD650 and Lavry.

Well, saving for HD650 first. Symphonica cable to come a little later after that hopefully. *sigh* RM200 saved, another 1k+ to go...

QUOTE(rxy @ Oct 30 2010, 03:08 AM) Sometime after getting HD650 la...@Fahrenhei147: What, your taiko didn't tell you about the joy of Symphonica+ HD650? tsk tsk. Go PcWork's place if you can: that set has been burning in for a long long while now, as opposed to Jaben's set which might still be a little on the green side. Can feel the full power of it plus the Lavry. This post has been edited by ArianneG: Oct 30 2010, 11:48 AM |

Upgrade rule of thumb: Cans, source THEN amps and lastly cables. Actually personally I'd rather upgrade source first, but that's more of a gradual thing anyway, from mp3s to FLACs to .WAV and proper CDs...

Your friend could consider Beyerdynamics MMX1-- I think that's the right series model, Jaben has it. Sound is good AND it has that mic attached.

There's also the option of a mic with stand-- I have one of those for the occasional homebrew podcast recording.

Speaking of source upgrades-- I now understand why g3nocide and others all advocate CD images and WAV files. I have also converted to the WAV side, LOL. Will now have to seek out CDs... aiks.

Really? Rockboxed iPod should play WAV-- though I'd think that since WAV files are pretty much universal, iPods should play them. Or don't they? .cue and .WAV files usually come together. A .cue file, or cuesheet basically tells your player where the gaps in between tracks and track lengths on the CD are, so you can get separate tracks to play instead of one huge file.
