QUOTE(mikelee @ Oct 24 2010, 10:58 AM) So it will be GTI for you then? I think so Mike I have test drove the 1.4 Rocco yesterday. One heck of an amazing car. Impressive build quality, both inside and out. Pick up is amazingly fast and the sound of the exhaust makes is so addictive. Also thinking of what colour I should get it in - I'm sort of torn between candy white and carbon steel grey Added on October 25, 2010, 12:49 pm QUOTE(kikikukiki @ Oct 24 2010, 12:40 AM) to put things into perspective... 2.0 gti stock vs 1.4 tsi + Stage 1 + RM50k in your bank account (or a trip around the world or college education for your kid)... hmmm... You have a point bro - though I think remapping it to stage 1 will void the warranty unless there is an official tie up between VW and the tuners. My dilemma was choosing between the Scirocco 1.4 TSI and the Golf GTI where there is RM20k difference. I personally think that the Scirocco is much better looking car - that being said driving enjoyment is also very important to me and the Golf GTI looks pretty decent as well. to clarify; chipping the ecu will void the warranty with vw malaysia. however, you will still maintain warranty from the tuner, although i am not sure on the extent of the coverage. best to enquire before taking the plunge.

QUOTE(r3kahsttub @ Oct 24 2010, 06:14 PM) not a big fan on the rocco. test drove it, and honestly find it much too pricey. i suppose there are no issues if one can afford it. personally, i prefer the golf. Yeah, lots of people takes a step back especially for the price you pay for a 2 door car. QUOTE(Max1979 @ Oct 25 2010, 12:42 PM) I think so Mike Go for Candy White. Agreed that GTI looks decent, add in those 18" Detroits and it looks awesome. Also thinking of what colour I should get it in - I'm sort of torn between candy white and carbon steel grey Added on October 25, 2010, 12:49 pm You have a point bro - though I think remapping it to stage 1 will void the warranty unless there is an official tie up between VW and the tuners. Agreed, needs to do lots of research before tuning. Best would be to talk to the service advisor that you always go to and see what's his say on it.QUOTE(hanifw @ Oct 25 2010, 01:04 PM) Wonder i should be buying Inspira for myself first or VW Polo for my wife first... Both of them are whole different class, build quality, price, etc. Best bet would be to test drive both cars. Thanks in advance~ This post has been edited by mikelee: Oct 25 2010, 05:21 PM |

For those of you worried about the warranty void, just pray that ABT will be able to negotiate well with VW Malaysia so that all of their mods will not void any warranty

damn near myr190k for a 1.4 2-door is a lot! maybe that's why i barely see them on the road. i think we'll see more 2.0TSI roccos on the road than we will 1.4s.

Well I got a couple of friends who placed orders for the 1.4 Rocs. You probably haven't seen them yet until the dealers start to pass the units on to their customers. ![]() |

I wonder if any of you guys know that VW Singapore quotes the Scirocco 2.0 cheaper that the Golf GTI.
Either weird marketing or completely different demographics. |

@phas3r: thanks; that roc actually resides further up my street. actually, i've realised that i've never seen a roc in black. only ever white, green, or blue.
@kelvinftg: actually, the singapore prices makes more sense to me. the golf gti is afterall, more 'performance' oriented than the 2.0 roc is... |

I think our gov charge 2 door cars with more tax....for example...fiat 500 should've been less than 100k here...probably 80k...but our stupid gov taxed it up to 135k just because it has two doors

QUOTE(hanifw @ Oct 28 2010, 06:32 PM) Lancer and Inspira are the same car, so space should be equal. Did you mean vs Polo or Golf? IMHO go for Golf if choosing between Lancer and Golf - Golf overall driveability wins this. If against the Polo, for the money go for the Lancer or Inspira. |
