You all know how there's a saying "If you have to ask the price, you can't afford it".

Well, I should add another line here.. "If you are worried about the maintenance, don't bother buying it".

Save yourself the trouble. Go buy Proton. You don't need to worry about maintenance.. just replacement.. hahahhaa..  tongue.gif
*
same goes for those worrying about its FC tongue.gif

the Golf is sweet.. Scirocco a bit out of my budget so gonna aim for the Golf wub.gif

lol, i tot this line applies to ferrari or bentley, i dunno it also applies to ppl's car ( VW) wor.....

well, its very normal to compare maintenance price among car choices, dont you agree? Unless money grows on trees.

you seriously think someone driving 200k car can simply afford to change the gearbox for 1xk or 2xk? i doubt that tongue.gif

Added on August 9, 2010, 11:21 pmhey, not sure if you guys heard, last week 988 & My fm were talking about ppl gone bankrupt due to car loan, instead of the usual culprit( credit card).

wink.gif are they talking proton or bmw i wonder.....
*
LOL.. it basically applies to every car, be it Proton or VW. Well.. here in Malaysia only la... tongue.gif If you take away the Polo's tax and what's not, it's possibly priced like a Viva. sweat.gif

Seriously though.. I think someone driving a 50k car may not even be able to afford changing their gearbox.

Hmm... I would think that people are going bankrupt due to car loan is because
- they bought a car they couldn't afford to keep paying for
- they bought a car they couldn't afford to maintain

Technically, without a credit card, you can still survive with just min payment but that's not the case for vehicles where you can't pay min and they usually repossess after a few months.

well, a RM110k with 9 years loan at 3.5% is just RM1.2k per month... with the 1/3 bank rule, definitely someone with no commitments and RM3.2k salary can afford it tongue.gif

checkout the dimensions... Polo and Jazz is just a few cm from each other... this is where the headache comes in... price is the same, Polo has full leather, 1.2 turbocharged engine, fuel economy and full leather... what does the Jazz give you? tongue.gif
*
dude!!!
IMHO, there wouldn't be any headache at all when it comes to choosing between the Polo and the Jazz! tongue.gif

How reliable are these VW folks? The article by CBT quoted below states it's going to be the Polo, Golf and Passat. Could be mere speculations by either party until there's an official announcement from high-ups in VW Malaysia.
*
Not sure how reliable but they do sell VW so I'd take their word for it till otherwise... I too would hope it would be Polo and Golf... brows.gif

QUOTE(meteoraniac @ Aug 23 2010, 09:35 AM)
Would be great news if Passat is CKD'ed, brings the price considerably lower and more affordable.

Have no idea why they are going for MPV though, the market share for this segment is dominated by the T and H
*
the thing is that I think no one knows yet which Passat they're gonna CKD over here... there are 2 different Passats in the market where one is made in China using a normal engine (not 2.0) and the other should be the better 2.0 engine.

Is it suitable for long distance travelling (e.g. KL to Kelantan)?

i was asking if it is suitable or not, not if it can or not? is it?
*
yea but still... as per comparison... how do you determine if a vehicle is suitable for long distance traveling or not? sweat.gif

so before asking if a car is suitable for long distance traveling, ask yourself the following questions..
- number of passengers
- number of bags

a BMW 3 series can be either good or bad for long distance traveling
good enough for 4 but bad for 5
luggage enough for 5 but the boot will be cramped
leather seats not good / nice for long distance in hot afternoon... sweaty thigh.. laugh.gif

just tested the new Golf and here are my thoughts

Quite versatile. Powerfully fast enough when you need it to be, subtly slow when you want it to be. Step on the paddle and it hit 100-120km/h in a short burst! It really doesn't feel like a 1.4 engine.
Driving at 60km/h feels awfully slow and at 120km/h feels a bit slow. Gonna expect loads of speeding tickets with this car on the highway sad.gif

Paddleshifts are nice and comfy. Gear change is ultra smooth (well, compared to my Mini Cooper and some of the BMW 3 series that I've driven). Its about 2k rpm at 100+ km/h on 7th gear.

Quiet and not so quiet. Signal Indicator hardly makes any noise. A bit of tyre-road noise, especially sitting at the back.

Front seats are quite ok. They're firm but not as fantastically comfortable as the leather ones found in a VW Beetle.
Rear seats are quite comfy (for short distance.. not sure for long distance) with adequate leg room if I was sitting in front and at the back (I'm about 180cm) but a bit of body roll. Sits 2 comfortably at the back but not 5.
Boot is a bit small but I guess it's ok.

Interior is nice (I like these subtle serious type of interior as well but as fantastic as what you'd find in an Alfa Romeo) but not as solid as a VW Beetle's soft touch dashboard.

Will wanna try the Polo later this month or early next month before I decide brows.gif

Personally, based on the smooth gear change I experienced just now, driving around in a congested road in town (during a jam) would be perfect.

To avoid any jerking, the only one needs to get used to is the brakes. Otherwise, it's rpm doesn't seem high enough that if you lift your foot off the brakes, the cars skips forward (like most cars)... there's a slight lag before the car moves if you lift your leg off the brakes without accelerating.

Feels larger than a Fiesta (rear seats definitely more space compared to a Fiesta) but side passenger can't sit crossed legged compared to my old E36 BMW. hehe... but the Fiesta seems to have less road noise compared to the new Golf...

what is the interest rate to get the golf 1.4 TSI?

cant quite recall but I believe it's 3.25% - 3.x% ... only the VW Beetle is on promo at 2.x% (lower than the Ford Focus' 2.76%)
