hi guys, after test drive the polo, i love the power and the car. but the problem is, this car is kinda small, lack of accessories and no arm rest is really a downer.. im driving 13 years old honda city and plan to change a car. so here are my 4 choices, City, Civic, Mazda 3 or Polo.

for polo users, please do let me know what is your experience ? are there any problem? any wind sound when running above 140km? cos for me, the problem with polo is lack of accessories and im afraid about the maintenance. what is the maintenance like compare to honda or mazda? besides those that i stated, is there anything i should know for VW like where can i source for polo accessories like arm rest, LED headlamp etc?

thanks for sharing

your choices range from 80k -> 130k, from jap -> conti, 1.5l to 1.2 twincharge to 2.0l....dude u need to cut out some variables from your choices. Decide whats your top 2 priorities, then its easier to make the choice.

why not work part time and earn your own cash for mods? unlikely your dad will say no if you spent your own hard earn cash, in fact, he might be proud of you. Just because u are studying doesnt mean u cant have side income...its so easy nowadays with the internet

what makes you think remapping will make your car smoother and improve drivability? badly tuned 'custom' msian maps is probably the no.1 cause of rough idle, knocking, too rich fuel mixture and other issues in VWs in msia. if this is your first car..i would stay FAR away form touching any sort of engine/ECU mods untill you are sure u know what u are doing. why muck up a brand new car with 5 year warranty?

Take DKtuning for example...do u know which parameters his tune will change? is he just increasing boost? how about ignition timing? how is he going to mate the increased turbo boost with the supercharger? they need ot work in tandem for the best performance

I'm working now in fact, at shangri-la kl lol. Its just an internship with the lowest pay u can imagine, but its d experience that counts for now.

Well, I tried the APR remap and its so damn smooth & powerful, my father tried it too, unfortunately the trial ended early if not he would have been poisoned enough cry.gif

Btw this is my 2nd car, I still kinda miss my first car sweat.gif

i've tested the polo until 150km/h. not much problem, although not as quiet as golf. more important is what car you are used too
if you are using the first gen city i can assure you will get improvement in NVH

Dont say like that...you should be proud on what you get. Not everyone got this oppotunity to own it.
Your dad love you very much  thumbup.gif

Actually, i felt that...golf's (1.4 or GTI) powers enough for me..if you comparing price of other brand.
Never regret buying it.
Althought u mod to +++ horsepowers, u wont fully ultilize it and even u fully use it..it will cause to pump more petrol moneyflies.gif .
I rather save it for bodykit...looking forward Golf R LED tail light  happy.gif

Yeah jwrx is correct because even the different sort of fuel you use can make a difference to those maps.

I memang benci orang press-press my buttons when I drive. laugh.gif Distracts me. Anyway, There is noticeable difference when the DCC settings are changed. Of course on a short normal city drive, u won't feel much of a difference. But when u drive on lousy roads in Ipoh, u can feel the suspension being stiffer on sports and softer on Comfort. But I'm lazy to always fiddle with it. That's why I always have it on Normal.

Up till now I've only tried Esso and Petronas' RON97 petrol. And sad to say, Petronas' 97 is not so easily available at all kiosks. mad.gif Personally, I prefer Mobil/Esso because it is so near my house. But my service advisor at the SC said that Petronas is the best. So, I just follow lor. U guys using what fuel? 95? With my previous ride, I felt that 95 is just a bit lacking in terms of power compared to 97. That's why I didn't bother to put 95 in my Golf now. Actually, not much difference in terms of RM per tankful. rolleyes.gif

eh? a full tank of ron97 vs ron95 for our cars is almost rm30. thats a big diffrence

I find shell 95 to be quite bad, i dont touch it at all, independent testing has shown that petronas 97 is among the best in msia in terms of octane rating but it varies from station to station

There must be a lot of VW deliveries coz i just saw a ton of vw s on the road - golfs. gtis and polos easily about 30 cars within 23 hours... As for the fuel ..petronas 97 is good??? that is news to me. I have always compared the mileage of petronas with 3 other brands and the one that comes out tops has always been 'siput' And i didnt like 'siput' in the first place.

Hi there, am interested in getting a Polo myself soon however I don't see many people going for this car, not even a club or forum dedicated to this Polo alone...

I was given option to go for 2010 or 2011 car. There's promotion for Polo 2010 car going with interest rate around 1.8 - 2.08% and you can get hold of the car within 2 weeks, while you need to fork out 3.1 - 3.2% for 2011 and you would have to wait till April to get hold of it.

Question here, is it worthwhile to get the 2011 car?

Any recommended place for me to source out accessories such as 16" rim, body kit, RCD310?

Thanks. Am newbie in VW world. Hope this will turn out to be sweet introduction entry to fun ride for me.

Aisay man.... 40k... u get more than just rims n stereo lah. Bigger cabin space, engine capacity, power, etc. But that all depends on the buyer's needs and whether he can afford the extra 40k or not lah.
