Hmm what happened to that guy who asked about the polo chip module? is anyone else interested in it? This is regards to the polo 1.2 TSI.

VAGSG members have already got it. However they have not replied to my query yet on it. Thinking of getting it straight from the manufacturers in Holland. Stage 1 bump. VAGSG member tested it on dyno and recorded 132 Ps. Stock on brochure rated in at 105 but it has been shown to produce up to 120 actual...

So this module actually functions more for power band and fuel efficiency with a little bump of about 12 Ps : ) whoever is interested please discuss here thx..

BTW this is plug and play so no warranty issues

QUOTE(Mavik @ Dec 1 2010, 09:32 AM)
If you use chipping solutions like Ventura where it is obvious there is a chip connected to the ECU of course VW will see it.

The ones done by APR or the Custom one by Exotic Mods are direct porting or flashing your actual car chip so there are no connections needed at all. Just go nego with them, that if ever the case that VW service center wipes it out, they will just plug in the engine map again. To them its basically just connecting a PC and remaping the ECU. Only difference is that APR is more expensive than the Exotic Mods one but ABT is still the most expensive.  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif

you are meant to take it out before sending for servicing.......you put in and take out in minutes and yes hp is at wheels but as discussed in the the other forum.you have a multiplier to calculate the hp at engine. Btw i say it again that some forumers in europe have calculated the dyno of stock polo 1.2 Tsi at close to 120 with ron 98. so...its really about 12 Ps increase with ventura chip module

and yes ecu remap is detectable by sc servicing and yes it will void the warranty..at least for FAwagen.

1 RON is not going to make too much of a difference. Usually the difference is around 1% per RON level but all that depends on how the ECU is tuned. However if you pump in RON 95, you might feel the difference as the stock ECU might detune more just to ensure the safety of the engine.
*
yes with ron 95 there is definitely a drop in performance in most cars, you dont even need a diagnostic to tell you that. especially with ron 95 in malaysia. our stock ecu program detunes for most makes i am sure. want to fel the differrence? go to the highway petrol stations and put in shell v power blue and then later go put in ron 95 yellow/green at any other petrol stations, ok the additives might make a minuscule difference but what you feel is what you get.... hmm.gif

and yes damn they just increased the ron 97..... rclxub.gif

Guys,

if you are going to do any sorta mods like remaps, suspension, engine related, just forget about your warranty, dont be a wuss.

Mod = no more warranty, dont need to kpkb. smile.gif

Its a safety feature on VW's, you can always overide the lock by manually opening the door. If you do not want that, just turn on childlock, its on your door frame

*
bbchua- yea that lock feature is in most continental cars, it just saves you the trouble of unlocking before leaving the car

if they cant provide you a chassis no. that means you will only get your car much later..ie your car is one of the ones caught up in the new jpj ruling......but you should ask your SA to be sure. BTW whois your SA?

No prob orientalpost. Teh tarik anytime can...

Btw,i dunno bout the price for rcd510 but i was thnking it will be in the region of 3000++ which really make me think twice bout buying  sweat.gif . Dats why if i can get sumthing with my desired function cheaper. Why not?altho mebbe i cant enjoy the MFD And steering control anymore but i thnk i can live wit dat.

Ehem..im actually one of the crazy ones who dun care bout pushing my monthly budget to the limit jus to get a dream car. Mos ppl wud say "better buy house laaa" but im one who trust the motto "enjoy now, suffer later"  whistling.gif so dats why mos of the time im in budget mode.

Enough bout the sad story. Anyway, i was thinking dat since we are already tampering with the system anyway, does it matter what kind of audio unit we use? (rcd510 or other brands). It will still involve opening and fixing back the casing if dat can be considered to void the warranty
*
If any wires are cut...audio or otherwise the WHOLE warranty becomes void, so dont let that audio shop guy fool you. Only if it is plug and play using the original connector then your warranty is safe, to some extent.

Actually, i am not only thinking of upgrading the RCD510, i also thinking of upgrading the rim as well. I really can't stand the standard rim....

Polo's 1200cc turbo equivalent to 2000cc is being overrated...
I would say horsepower wise, polo's 1.2 (105PS) is on par toyota vios 1.5 (109PS)
Torque wise polo 1.2 equivalent to honda civic 1.8 (polo's torque is even better than civic because polo can reach max torque 175Nm @ 1550-4100rpm while civic max torque 174Nm only @ 4300rpm.. early torque translate to better pickup and some how translate to better fuel efficiency as well).

*paiseh.. i m just a good broucher reader  doh.gif

The 7 speed DSG is also another big highlight of VW vehicle.. the dual-cluth allow seamless gear change and you wont feel (or minimal) gear shift jerk in between gear change.. fast gear shifting reduce torque loss during gear change.. more gears allows your car to choose the more appropriate gear ratio at different speed and different driving situation.. overall better fuel efficiency because you have more gear ratio for different driving condition, lesser torque loss during gear change, and better acceleration bcos of seamless gear shift and lower torque loss..

So Miss, now you see the wonder of the polo, small but powerful, fast pickup, great fuel efficiency (award winning car), and the pride of owning a VW.. we havent even start talking about the good handling of the German car.. that will be another long story..

Golf gives even more  laugh.gif

p/s: wat else, paying "proton savvy road tax" for a high performance car..
*
good research for a brochure reader. but for the vios bit.....on paper only. even the polo TSI out accelerates the manual vios ( on wheels it is about 115-120 PS with RON 97 and 98- hard to reproduce, not evryone has a dyno). I am waiting for my 3rd vw next year hopefully they bring in the polo gti...6.9 secs....... brows.gif dr jekyl mr hyde in the making...

Polo 1.2 is overrated.
If you want to experience power in a Polo, you can try Polo GTI....1.8T is real good,to make it better, you can always chip it.Then you'll get around 180-200bhp,depend on which chip you're getting.
The 1.2T is as good as 1.6 NA,IMHO...
Thanks
*
overrated maybe but in real world perfomance no other car at the same capacity comes close except for the clones from seat and skoda. And in comparison with non- vw models like civic, toyota and likewise. even the figures are better than the 1.8 ones.

As for the polo gti....of course you get better performance and figures but it is not readily available now...and it costs almost the same( well golf cost a few k more) as a golf TSI minus the light and sound package.

Dont even mention the 99 k polo gti that the dreaded vw cars sdn bhd was selling. that was an anomaly like them and hopefully those anomalies dont happen again...

Oh yes just wanted to impart this to all our forumners on VW, i just drove all the way from singapore to kl at an excruciating slow pace of 90 km/hr in a polo TSI.....I mean thats definitely more than the 10 laps jeremy clarkson did with his M3. what positive things did I get out of it? well I used only a quarter tank for the whole trip AND replicate what jeremy clarkson said....economy is HOW you drive not WHAT you drive....well of course if you have an engine like the TSI...it helps tongue.gif

I don't think the Golf sold here comes with Park Assist right? Does the Park Assist module already built - in in the current Golf sold here?

Any changes to the Golf model coming in March this year?
*
I wonder if he means auto park like the Tiguan....only the tiguan and higher end models have it

Anyone has FC of 22-23km/l on the highway yet for the polo? Or the wind must have been blowing me from behind..... I am sure there are some who travel up and down regularly. I was doing an average of 90 km/hr in the late afternoon/evening.

the consumer test in US/UK gave better FC of 26km/l but I guess our weather plays a role too, their test was based on two fuel consumption tests, the Urban Cycle (20°c-30°c run on a rolling road, with a series of different accelerations/speeds at a max 31mph, average 12mph), and an Extra Urban Cycle (average speed 39mph over 4.3miles).

There must be a lot of VW deliveries coz i just saw a ton of vw s on the road - golfs. gtis and polos easily about 30 cars within 23 hours... As for the fuel ..petronas 97 is good??? that is news to me. I have always compared the mileage of petronas with 3 other brands and the one that comes out tops has always been 'siput' And i didnt like 'siput' in the first place.

yes you can... why is that surprising? And if you did not know you also have parking lights...ie the ones on the right or left....depending on which side of the road you parked on. Used to be conti cars only but these are found on some
4wds also nowadays
