Guys,
if you are going to do any sorta mods like remaps, suspension, engine related, just forget about your warranty, dont be a wuss. Mod = no more warranty, dont need to kpkb. My Stage 2 GTI was running on ron95 with no issues. For my roc, i have tried ron95, 96 and 97 with no discernible difference in power, so i pump 95 all the time now This post has been edited by jwrx: Dec 1 2010, 10:54 PM |

QUOTE(musclemass @ Dec 1 2010, 10:53 PM) lol...i thought ppl would flame me for saying that...not agree with me my 2 sen on warranty. Its very dependent on your relationship with branch manager and the service manager, as well as knowing your rights. I know personally Stage 2 APR GTI claim full DSG replacement but i also know stock car denied warranty because of exhaust tips change Dealer has to be reasonable, ie cant deny you claim for leaking radiator because you have changed a headunit, just be sensible and claim for things you know could not have been caused by your mods I plan to remap after my 1st service with VW...b4 that will mod things like bodykit, rims and exhaust, which will not harm my warranty at all |

QUOTE(Xonius @ Dec 2 2010, 01:56 PM) Tumpang thread, I'll be getting my A4 soon too, would like to chip straight off the bat since the 1.8T is to me slightly underpowered. But what i'm very worried about is the warranty issue, once we chip will lose the warranty right? Stage 1 for audi/VW is fixed at RM3980, its not the cheapest, its not the most powerful, but its pretty safe and the support is there if u need itAlso whats the estimated price? I saw (and converted) from their US website, its around RM5k and they claim its the cheapest and has the best price:performance ratio. Is this true for us here? |

QUOTE(Mavik @ Dec 2 2010, 10:33 PM) If I am not mistaken, only the front passengers can open the door from inside even if the door is locked. Its a safety feature on VW's, you can always overide the lock by manually opening the door. If you do not want that, just turn on deadlockIf your headlights are turned on, your headlight washers will automatically activate This post has been edited by jwrx: Dec 3 2010, 10:10 AM |

RTFM guys, just press lock on your vehicle key once to activate the deadlock, then u cant open from inside anymore
The default is deadlock OFF because its dangerous if you have a accident, as its more difficult for rescuers to open the door, of if the driver is unconscious then your passengers cant get out Added on December 3, 2010, 10:09 am QUOTE(jerrychiang @ Dec 3 2010, 09:40 AM) hi bbchua, you got friends with death wish ar? open doors while vehicle is in motion... i tried it while i driving, which the central locking engage, and from inside, my friend sit at the back can open the door .. scary... oh btw, second day drive experience opinion .. maybe some pro will know more. still enjoying the ride!!! anyway get used to it, its a Conti thing...you have moved up in the world, not driving jap anymore This post has been edited by jwrx: Dec 3 2010, 10:09 AM |

QUOTE(Xonius @ Dec 3 2010, 10:12 AM) Wow, 4k only? thats even better. BTW i thought they were the most powerful, since its APR, is there an even better and/or cheaper ones? REVO will give you more torque as you can change boost settings and its actually cheaper then APR.I'm looking more towards torque increase rather than horsepower (increased acceleration is what i look for most), and so far from the tuner comparisons i've read on the net, APR gives the most gain in torque. Anyway the voided warranty really makes me think 10 times since Audi's spare parts are bloody expensive here. Added on December 3, 2010, 10:20 am QUOTE(jerrychiang @ Dec 3 2010, 10:15 AM) AHAHHAHA not death wish lah. testing testing lah. still exploring the car.. but yesterday night hand itchy and to fix a taiwan make DRL to my POLO. modify it to mount (using glue gun) at the POLO sportlight possition. (too bad, i no money to buy the sport lights..as you know, polo in malaysia is without front fog light.. and i do hear news that if want to install, need to buy the fog light + change the lighting switch as well. add up all a least around 1.5K estimated... 1.5? no lar... Golf R LEDs are 2.5k at modshops, no way normal foglights would cost 1.5k, its probably at most rm500 for a set, but yes, u might need some extra switches, i go have a look at polo laterThis post has been edited by jwrx: Dec 3 2010, 10:20 AM |

QUOTE(stevencbk @ Dec 3 2010, 11:23 AM) Folks, Dont cancel yet. As far as i know, a very large shipment of polo's just cleared customs, i saw a pic posted on a friends FB.Seriously need your advice on VW deliverables, esp all Polo owners who are already enjoying their new vehicle. I have my booking on 23rd OCT, Polo 1.2 tsi (WHITE), untill today the cowboy SA have NO idea where my car is!! The same story I heard that the car is still in Port, pending clerance, checking, blar blar ... Btw, I booked it from FA Jln222. Now has escalated to their branch Mgr, and his last promise is next Friday. Pls let me know if this delivery timeframe is reasonable, or I should cancel my booking. Timeline of 1 month+ is reasonable for a VW as its currently very hot selling atm. Currently the wait list for GTi and Roc is March 2011 delivery |

QUOTE(vailance @ Dec 4 2010, 11:19 PM) urrm..it does 90% of what the 2.0 can do at 60k cheaper just passed 2k mark, engine is still very tight, so the mileage is not what im expecting yet, now about 10l/100km which is slightly better then my mk5 gti - its fast and zippy, and hitting 140kph on highways is not a problem, my normal cruising speed is 140ish, so i dont really push it more then that, im not a speed junkie on public roads - with the 1.4, i find that you have to use the paddle shifts, and dropping down 2 gears b4 overtaking or changing gears is a must if you dont want to get bogged down, one reason is because 7th gear is REALLY high. With my previous mk5, i could be lazy and just use the accelerator to kick down, it had enough power for any situations. But with the 1.4, you have to pay more attention to which gear you are in and the rpm - Under heavy braking, the Roc suffers from the same tail happy characteristics as the golf, it just wants to break loose as the rear feels unsettled - The stock michelin's it comes with is pretty crap, i can wheel spin in 1st and 2nd gear coming out from junctions, going to have to install the stiffer lower arms later and change to better tires - the only complaint i have so far is that the 7speed seems to get confused with jalan maarof hill....twice it has lost power while on the hill, had to pull handbrake...never had that problem with my Golf...the hill hold function doesnt work as well as my mk5 version 2% is more then i got...but we are now in december and all dealers are trying to clear thier 2010 stocks, so buying either this month or before march, would get you the best deals. March the 2011 models are coming in,...you can bet there will be no discount for the '11 models I will be changing my oil at 5-6k km, then going in for the scheduled service at 15k. for all new owners of VW...make it a habit to check your oil levels at least once every 2 weeks...in the morning b4 u go work Added on December 6, 2010, 9:22 am QUOTE(phas3r @ Dec 6 2010, 05:11 AM) if you are not a hardcore driver i guess even 7500km is okay.. the manual recommends every 15k right like the posters in that thread mentioned...if they wanted power, they wouldnt have bought a 320, on paper even the 1.4 roc is only 0.2 sec slower then the 325you could check the oil level yourself around 1-1.5k you can rev a little bit more, after 1.5k you can go all the way btw, the polo 1.2 is pretty fast ! last time i thought it could only match a civic 1.8, but even bmw 320i struggles to keep up http://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/forums/show...r-than-Polo-1.2 even my mk5 struggle to keep on nkve in heavy ish traffic last time. phaser,
im ryou in VGM. With regards to changing oil...if u are worried, just do it lor, theres no difinitive right or wrong, if it makes u feel better and sleep at night, i would suggest u do it VW's need more care then japs..just get into habit of checking your fluid levels, eg my roc is only one month old, noticed last nite that coolant is down to min level, need to go back and refill at VW For hills, i now drive old school way, pull hand brake, rev till theres resistance and let go |

TSI vs GTI
diffrent cars for diffrent ppl/needs. If you can afford the extra 1k-1.5k per month to get the GTI, by all means go for it...its still better value then a 320i with the GTI u get - slightly more street cred - ability to mod till 300bhp if u desire max power - nicer interior and ACC with the TSI u - save 55k....which to me..is a huge amount of money...can buy a extra Myvi for pasar duties, or used as downpayment in a few years for a Golf R - As much power as the stock GTi with a simple remap I got the TSI roc cos i just didnt feel that spending 245k on a 2.0 roc was worth it, couldn't bring myself to spend so much money |

QUOTE(futobuta @ Dec 6 2010, 04:40 PM) Actually I like the 1.4litre Golf. Just prefer the leather seats that the GTi comes with. If VW had brought in the TSI with leather seats, I'd go for the TSI too. Well, I guess, that's part of the their intention, to set the 2 cars apart. Leather seats shouldn't come into the comparison, M'sia has very very good leather makers who supply oem leather to alfa, BMW etc So if u wanted leather in your tsi it's not a big deal |
