What's the point in using atto it's so unrealistic as it just writes zero's to the drive. Who buys a drive just to write zero's to it?
FWIW, not a lot IMO as you'll not get these speeds in real life.

becoz thats what u get with sandforce... it will only shine with compressible data... and ocz uses atto to get those specs on printed on the box if u read clearly

look at the product sheet carefully
http://www.ocztechnology.com/res/manuals/O...oduct_sheet.pdf

clearly said
QUOTE
1 Maximum Sequential Speeds are determined using ATTO

so if u didnt want to deal more with compressible data then u shudnt have bought sandforce.. just get marvell or intel,

As I already explained to you, it's a pointless test for real world performance and if you already understand that then why ask for it.

I'd agree, if you're dealing with mostly incompressible data then get one of the other models, however the OS and many applications are compressible so the average performance between incompressible and highly compressible can be very good. YMMV

becoz people always confuse how OCZ got that speed from and keep on asking y is their ssd not getting the correct speed like advertised LOL doh.gif .

and how did u come out with that statement?? it is not a pointless test at all if u really understand. i uses compressible data to test the ssd unlike crystaldisk where u can set it to which ever data u want to test

Im guessing this could be THE thing that earns true hybrid drive. Tho the price seems somewhat close to the current ssd.

OCZ Synapse

Anyone can tell which brand to choose from? Either the Corsair Force series 3 120GB or the Adata S510 120 GB? Anyone uses this before? Some advised or opinions is greatly appreciated.

Nice stuff. Its like u split the Hybrid drive into 2 things, Mechanical hard disk and Larger SSD cache.

this synapse requires third party software called dataplex... from nvelo i believe...

my concern is how well is the software support for it? will it work with different/older/newer/future version of OS? how fast for bugfix/features/etc????

i personally wu d recommend 60GB agility 3 w 2.15 firmware. can get one around RM389 a pop. fortunately, prior to firmware 2.15, i didnt have freezing or BSOD. i guess, it was luck. smile.gif

13 to logon and 36 to desktop is kinda long dont u think ? even my intel g3 which i assume is slower than agility, is shorter than that hmm.gif . u need to check your settings again.

i doubt the synapse is faster than a dedicated ssd with boot. but the site's result is rather surprising.

yeah that's what i was thinking also. as long as the software and firmware keeps alive, things should go well. but if they stop support then too bad. very risky.

And the fact that they could have made the software usable with the current ssd but they dont want .. kinda like cheating people's money

yeah...thats y... 13secs...i saw on the itnernet, every1 was getting like 9secs...the fastest i got was 12 secs. :| . but i dont think its becoz of the handful of startup items since we're talkign about an SSD some more. ive done services tweak, startup tweak, boot config tweaks, ssd tweaker, n thats it. 13secs to logon. any other recommendations? i even disable hardwares i dont use like, bluetooth, webcam, LAN port etc

The software that makes the caching magic happen is not manufactured by OCZ, but by NVELO, which license their product to OCZ.

The license key for the Dataplex software is printed on the SSD drive itself and on the included documentation.

Software installation requires that you download the software from NVELO and enter the license key which will be activated online and linked to your system. In order to free up the license key when you reinstall your system, you have to uninstall the software via Windows Control Panel. Should your system break down, you can contact OCZ to get a new license key.

During Dataplex software installation you are asked to select the linked drives for caching.
At this time only the boot HDD can be selected for caching, which means that users with multiple HDDs will not be able to cache all their drives - only the Windows startup drive.

Once that step is complete, the system will be rebooted and the caching layer is active. Caching happens transparently at the lowest OS level: the Synapse SSD will disappear from Windows and all its capacity will be used for caching. There are no further tweakable parameters available in the Dataplex software.

good news for SSDs in raid

QUOTE
SSDs in RAID Get TRIM, Don't Lose Performance Anymore
Those who did, though, may have noticed a particular line that says “this release will not enable the TRIM on RAID0 feature, but it will be added in the next RST 11.5 release. Contact your RST AE representative with questions.”
