Check with HDD Tune (free progam)

It may give you some inside what is wrong with the drive.

My Intel X18-M 160GB also had exactly the same issue with you, and the SSD is dead, A smart attribute 184 (B8) error indicates End-to-End error, from the Intel communities forum, it is because of the bad cache in the SSD controller.

Is your SSD bought from the lowyat forum seller which sell OEM Intel SSD at very cheap price? I got my Intel SSD 160GB at RM350, I thought it was a good deal, now I realized again cheap stuff doesn't come with quality. the cheap OEM SSD should be a much inferior version that fail easily.

there is a deal going on this website, which ends by the end of the day. the price is $149.99, but it gives a $79.99 mail in rebate, which makes it $70.00 biggrin.gif

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...&Tpk=20-167-047

i know its super worth it but this is my first ssd and i dont quite know which brand too choose. so far based on customer reviews on these stores, crucial has the best rating, is intel on par with crucial? in terms on quality and reliability.

thanks

ofcoz laaaa.. better buy something with warranty. becoz u wudnt know when the item is gonna fail. u may be running it for 6 months with no problem. but wud u know it will fail u on the seventh month?.. lol.. even with warranty and even the item is perfect also there is no way telling it will not fail at all. so having a full warranty is the best backup plan. lesson learned... biggrin.gif

Next time buy stuff with local / full warranty. Most SSD provide 3 years warranty smile.gif Now you are RM350 poorer

Got problem then send back to US? So how much do you think you need to fork out to claim a single RMA? In the end, the hassle & cost more compared when you buy locally sweat.gif

Hi, I have 2x G2 intel ssd - 160gB and 80gb. I have run some performance test using HD tune to compare the performance. Below is the screen shot for the test. the 1st is the 160gb and the 2nd is the 80gb. There is a big difference in the random test where:

160gb = 4 IOPS, 242ms. 2.089MB/s
80gb = 271IOPS, 3.7ms, 137.685MB/s

It is a big difference and I retested the 160gb again and the avg access time will varies from 4000ms - >10000ms which is very long. but for the 80gb, it is quite consistent and not as high as 160gb.
All settings are the same.

Is this abnormal or otherwise? Do I need to send back this SSD to claim warranty?

As requested. For my intel G2 80gb vs 160gb SSD. It seems that the 160gb part is having a problem.

AS SSD:

Even though for the 5x 100mb test is almost similar for both ssd, but i can notice during the test that for 160gb ssd the reading would drop to around 3MB/s during the 3 or 4 test point.
