Hi guys anyone here bought a MacBook using the education discount? Wta you must own a credit card to buy or can you just call up order what you want then just bank the money to apple?
*
I bought it using my Maybank Debit Card.. (which I use for all my Apple Store purchases). They did not ask for any identification. I am a genuine student.

I live in Subang so my laptop was delivered pretty quickly. Early by 2 days from the estimated time of arrival.

Doubt you can do anything about it. Although it's aluminum based but just afraid process of fixing it might turn into your worst nightmare

haha its okay... the bent edge isnt that obvious if the screen is lifted up.
What i do is just put a small piece of paper under it to prevent friction with the aluminium body smile.gif

Sigh... is there anything that i can do with this bent edge on my macbook pro?  sad.gif

It looks like a small dent. But even the tiniest defect on a very costly computer just ruins everything, doesn't it? For the very same reason some people would rather buy cheap notebook to install Mac OS on it rather than risk damages like this.

Anyway you may replace the offending part if it bothers you that much. The part you want is called display housing and can be found here:

http://www.myservice.com/cases.html

Or I can fix that for you, but it's not going to be cheap.

I have been a Mac user for about 4+ years now. I always say once you use a MAC , you will never want to touch a Windows OS anymore. I am so impressed with the MAC OSX, I have now for own use a iMAC, MB Pro and latest MBA. My son and daughter also "poison" by me and using MacBooks too. Can say I am a MacFan boy. However I am not impressed at all with the iPad and iphone - that's just me.

Just give you a straight simple answer why the Mac is better for me , not necessary for others:

- Hung/freeze issues in the OS ??? Rare - in the past 4+ years I can't even remember how many times such happen. Perhaps few times a year ? On the Windows, OMG I have lost count - I don't even want to think about it. Most WIN users will say freeze/hung/blue screen of death is a Windows signature. If it does not happen - something wrong !!

- Need not worry about virus infections. Till now never experienced any though it is said virus attacks on MAC will increased due to popularity of the OSX. Using the MAC, never even considered any AV software though is available

- Disk defragmentation; the OSX takes good care of it. If need just use the builtin utility and I rarely touch it, so rare that I don't even remember in 4 years how many times I did , perhaps less than 5 time and all the time I did it just for "fun" not that I faced any hard drive issues

In summary one word reliability and I must said though its specs does not look better than a lot of Windows OS machines , do not be deceived by just looking at specs. I always like to quote this , perhaps oversimplify the situation just to draw an analogy : the latest Volkswagen Golf 1400 cc ( about RM 160,000 ) power , acceleration, pickup can match if not even better than the last previous BMW 523i ( RTM 390,000 2500 cc 6 cylinder) ; the latest Mercedes E250 kompressor ( only 1800 cc ) outperform in most areas over its previous E240 ( 2600 cc ). So just looking at raw specs does not give one a true picture of expected performance

I just bought the USB Ethernet Adapter for my new MBA 13" from Apple Premium Reseller. I was wondering is there a cheaper 'third party' adapter that will work with Mac, since it will involve installing of Mac OSX driver for the hardware?
