there is no 11 inch macbook air previously. And the price for the 13 inch is freaking expensive.

can always look for 2nd hand if u want it cheaper. since the MBA is still new, even the 2nd hand ones should be in a good condition

hey guys, i've never thought i'd be posting something in the apple thread (*points to my avatar*), least even visiting it...but here i am.

i'm in a dilemma. i just won a mbp 13. a few months back, i bought an acer 4820tg laptop (14.1"). the acer basically trumps the mbp in everything (specs wise). one thing about this acer is that the palm rest tends to get warm under normal use, and i believe it is the same for mbp 13? i've not collected my prize yet, so i'm planning to try it out at the store, which i haven't got the time...haha.

let's just assume that i:
-don't mind the screen size differences
-occasionally play 3d games like SC2, darksiders, prince of persia series, heroes of might and magic series, diablo series...and solitaire.
-am trying to get off the computer as it's taking a toll on my social life (but still need one to get things done)
-have never used a mac before, only dabbled in linux for a few months. is OSX that great compared to Win7, or it's just an OS at the end of the day?
-kind of like mac's keyboard (typed on a macbook air before)
-likes to have cash in my bank
-needs to find chicks (this is irrelevant, or is it?)

so here's my dilemma:
-keep the acer, sell off mbp 13 for cash
-keep the mbp 13, sell off the acer for cash
-keep both
-sell both and never visit lyn again

i'd like to have your unbiased opinion on this, but since this is a macbook thread...who am i kidding rite? in any case, the final decision will be mine after trying out the mbp, but i'd appreciate your views (hopefully you can offer me some new perspectives).

thanks! tongue.gif

you won it? I bought it for RM3 500 and you just won it like that? >< So lucky! But seriously, as a Win7 and Mac user, I suggest you to take the MBP and sell the Acer. You will never regret using MBP! It's so much faster, more fun and the apps are fantastic!

If you need windows to get your work done, you can actually use bootcamp. If me, i'd sell off the acer and keep the mbp. Though, I am using 2 laptops now, hahaha! 1 macbook and 1 lenovo for work.

I've got the best of both worlds. Doing design in both Mac and PC and im comfortable with both. If u can manage both OS, then no prob for you, no need to sell of your laptop. Maybe you can play games with your laptop tongue.gif

wow you people are really into your apple gadgets eh? you refer to your macbooks as macs, and reserve the word "laptop" for everything else tongue.gif. to me, keeping 2 laptops seems like a waste. it's like having a wife and a mistress...and i can't tell which is the wife and which is the mistress.

ok here's another question: does a macbook's value drop drastically after about a year (assuming everything is in pristine condition after a year)?

1st of all, congrats! haha well the thing is most of us here are previously windows users, n while we still use windows nowadays, we prefer OSX. since macs (as in any macs, not just macbooks) can run windows as well, seems like a no brainer ;p

aaaanyway everyone needs a computer today. if u say it's interfering ur social life, just stop playing games. u cant play most games in OSX so that shud be a good thing? hehe.

about ur value question, no. even the old ibook (before 2006) stil sells >rm800. current macbook, after 1 year, i think still can get more than 2k for it

conclusion: sell the acer, use the money to find chicks (yes its relevant), enjoy ur social life w/o having to worry about antivirus, defrags, n having to keep up with the latest games lol

the above 2 sentences makes much sense in their own context...but at the same time they are contradictory hahaha tongue.gif. i like your conclusion, although i was hoping to read something like "keep the mac, chicks dig em" whistling.gif

but on a more serious note, i guess apple products do carry their premium price through the years eh? people just rate it highly, which is a good thing for resale. hmm...i guess it's a keeper? hmm.gif

i guess geeky chicks to kinda dig it. it definitely has more appeal to the ladies compare to most laptops. (most, try bringing an hp envy and the mac seems not wanted tongue.gif) but frankly, i wud advice you to keep the mac, and sell off your acer as high as you can. like someone said earlier, you can dual boot the mac with windows and osX. so whats there to lose keeping the mac? thumbup.gif

Keep the mac. sell off the acer.

I'm a new mac user, and my MBA is my 1st mac. I don't miss windows at all.

Keep the macs sell of the laptop
It's not about specs as my mac trumps out my brand new dell in every way. I carried both whenever I'm traveling and since mac is light I don't mind having it both.
Macs is like mistress where it's expensive to maintain one but the performance is freaking awesome
My dell is like wife since I only use it due to company laptop and company policy so in the end it's just for official purposes only. Getting another lenovo soon and the lightest one as well. See how it goes then whether the wife can be part time mistress as well

Chicks dig money (no offence biggrin.gif ) so whether you use macs or not in the end of it whether you got the money to buy them coffee or not..hahaha

Company give free laptop, what to do. I bring it to work, and now the battery is dead, just about 1 yr old. The macbook is more for personal use, graphics/videos rendering, PS, which is what I'm into smile.gif

i can hear people chanting "keep the mac, keep the mac, keep the mac"...and i'm starting to feel silly for posting my question in a mac thread biggrin.gif

ok, no harm asking 1 more time if it's been asked a million times already - can i use the mbp 13 to fry eggs while i watch youtube? i understand that it's an OS issue, so do you people use bootcamp to switch to windows before you go for a youtube marathon?
