Which is more worth it,
a MBP 13" Core 2 Duo @ 2.66GHz with GeForce 320M at RM4899
or
a MBP 15" i5 @ 2.4GHz with GeForce 330M 256MB at RM5899?

That's like a thousand ringgit hike in price.. sad.gif
*
As above, battery, GPU, CPU, weight. Factor in yourself which one is the most important.
Example: I chose MBP 13 because of main priority are the weight factor. ~500gram difference might be small but I lug those thing around and most of the time with 2 laptop so weight is my utmost priority. GPU are not my priority at all. CPU yes but I'm not using much CPU extensive apps so I don't mind that much...
Price is one thing but does that 1k difference justify our purchase. If you really use those then choosing MBP 13 is not a good idea although it's cheaper because you end up with more frustration..haha

wow, macbook pro seems lighter.
what about macbook air ?
any comments on this one? how much is it now.
*
Lighter yes but with the expense of few stuff like no superdrive, lacking much USB etc....I prefer MBP 13 since it's like being in the middle of MBA and MBP 15

Safari cannot go fullscreen. try use alternative..Google chrome is good( can full screen ).
*
Apple concept is having fullscreen to the best aspect ratio or kind of it. In short if the webpage you are trying to view doesn't require you to go fullscreen then clicking maximize the it won't maximize till edge of your screen
However, just drag the corners to make it go full screen and each time you launch Safari it will stay that way

Hi I'm new with Pro, I wonder how long is the battery life... mine is like 5 hours tho, is that correct? cuz they said it's 7 hours. sad.gif

I can get easily 6-7-8 hrs when surfing or doing light task (either on old MBP 13 or new MBP13). Things to check, Wifi, bluetooth, music/movie, brightness etc
I got around 4 hrs when watching movie etc...well who would want to see a dark/not bright movie anyway..lol

Hey guys. Just received my 15" MBP this past monday but i'm returning it to apple cause the notebook vibrates incessantly whenever its on.
I'm just wondering if that has anything to do with the hard disk which i upped to 7200rpm. Maybe it's vibrating cause it's spinning too fast? Is there such thing? Anyone with a similar experience?

Another thing, i intend to install Windows 7 on it via bootcamp and partition the hard drive, but i have a concern. I have a friend who tells me that her mac is significantly slower ever since she partitioned her hard drive doing the exact same thing. This confuses me since i read online that using bootcamp instead of parallels to run 2 OS is better since u are required to reboot the mac in order to swap between OS and thus all the hardware is used for that selected OS. Where else when using parallels u running windows on mac and the hardware is shared thus making it slower. Is this true? What are your opinions? anyone used both and can tell me the difference? cause parallels i have to buy but bootcamp comes already preinstalled.

PS: when i use the word "slow" i am referring to the slow performance of the mac on BOTH leopard and windows OS.

Thanks in advance for all ur advice.  biggrin.gif

I read back then (I think even it was mentioned in this forum) that using 7200rpm HDD will cause slight vibration. If I'm not mistaken some vibrates more than the other depending on the brand.

Yes running bootcamp means resources are dedicated to the OS only and using parallel or VMWare (like my case) it will take a toll on the performance. I don't play games on Windows but I do know a lot of forummers advised to use bootcamp if you want to play Windows games instead of virtualization since it can be resource hog. I prefer VMware though instead of bootcamp since it save me the hassle of rebooting etc plus easy drag drop etc kinda thing. Short note though, running virtualization will not hog the resource too much if you are running for example Microsoft Office, Outlook etc but not for games, Photoshop etc kinda thing.

If you need the flexibility of running multi OS for example like FC, OpenSolaris etc then you will fully utilize your VMWare/Parallel but if need Windows and on budget constraint or the budget would be better off upgrading things and you don't mind rebooting, bootcamp is the way to go. This of course depends on what you need since if gaming then bootcamp is the only way to go

Keep the macs sell of the laptop
It's not about specs as my mac trumps out my brand new dell in every way. I carried both whenever I'm traveling and since mac is light I don't mind having it both.
Macs is like mistress where it's expensive to maintain one but the performance is freaking awesome
My dell is like wife since I only use it due to company laptop and company policy so in the end it's just for official purposes only. Getting another lenovo soon and the lightest one as well. See how it goes then whether the wife can be part time mistress as well

Chicks dig money (no offence biggrin.gif ) so whether you use macs or not in the end of it whether you got the money to buy them coffee or not..hahaha

yes. I don't think it is that hot la. sometimes, i put on my lap after using ten hours straight also not hot.
*
Last year I was into flash based online game (Evony) and it warmed up. Still it wasn't that hot even after days of not shutting it down
I used Dell to play that one as well and it warmed up and after few hours I need to reboot the laptop cos its not longer responsive
Quit the game now and got my own life back and still when I travel I never shutdown my laptop for weeks up to nearly 3 months

There are some truth to it but personally I think it's exaggerated. I use VMware but I only use it to have my fedora in there. Will never have Windows in this mac for sure biggrin.gif
