hey guys, i've never thought i'd be posting something in the apple thread (*points to my avatar*), least even visiting it...but here i am.

i'm in a dilemma. i just won a mbp 13. a few months back, i bought an acer 4820tg laptop (14.1"). the acer basically trumps the mbp in everything (specs wise). one thing about this acer is that the palm rest tends to get warm under normal use, and i believe it is the same for mbp 13? i've not collected my prize yet, so i'm planning to try it out at the store, which i haven't got the time...haha.

let's just assume that i:
-don't mind the screen size differences
-occasionally play 3d games like SC2, darksiders, prince of persia series, heroes of might and magic series, diablo series...and solitaire.
-am trying to get off the computer as it's taking a toll on my social life (but still need one to get things done)
-have never used a mac before, only dabbled in linux for a few months. is OSX that great compared to Win7, or it's just an OS at the end of the day?
-kind of like mac's keyboard (typed on a macbook air before)
-likes to have cash in my bank
-needs to find chicks (this is irrelevant, or is it?)

so here's my dilemma:
-keep the acer, sell off mbp 13 for cash
-keep the mbp 13, sell off the acer for cash
-keep both
-sell both and never visit lyn again

i'd like to have your unbiased opinion on this, but since this is a macbook thread...who am i kidding rite? in any case, the final decision will be mine after trying out the mbp, but i'd appreciate your views (hopefully you can offer me some new perspectives).

thanks! tongue.gif

wow you people are really into your apple gadgets eh? you refer to your macbooks as macs, and reserve the word "laptop" for everything else tongue.gif. to me, keeping 2 laptops seems like a waste. it's like having a wife and a mistress...and i can't tell which is the wife and which is the mistress.

ok here's another question: does a macbook's value drop drastically after about a year (assuming everything is in pristine condition after a year)?

since macs (as in any macs, not just macbooks) can run windows as well, seems like a no brainer ;p

u cant play most games in OSX so that shud be a good thing? hehe.

the above 2 sentences makes much sense in their own context...but at the same time they are contradictory hahaha tongue.gif. i like your conclusion, although i was hoping to read something like "keep the mac, chicks dig em" whistling.gif

but on a more serious note, i guess apple products do carry their premium price through the years eh? people just rate it highly, which is a good thing for resale. hmm...i guess it's a keeper? hmm.gif

i can hear people chanting "keep the mac, keep the mac, keep the mac"...and i'm starting to feel silly for posting my question in a mac thread biggrin.gif

ok, no harm asking 1 more time if it's been asked a million times already - can i use the mbp 13 to fry eggs while i watch youtube? i understand that it's an OS issue, so do you people use bootcamp to switch to windows before you go for a youtube marathon?

yes. I don't think it is that hot la. sometimes, i put on my lap after using ten hours straight also not hot.

good to know. so many complaints flying around saying that it's hot, so there must be some truth to it.

in bootcamp or not
they are the same, flash player utilise your GPU power
that's why it's "warmer"

i guess it depends on how one define "warm" or "hot" then. i think i better shutup and go test drive one already. if it's too hot then i can skip buying a hot plate for steamboat.
