Yes, you can web check-in if your return flight back to Malaysia if the return flight is within 7 days and not later than 4 hours before departure unless the country you are coming from falls under AA "no web check-in" category.

check AA website for some countries that cannot do web check-in - from memory, one of them is Australia.

So... I did web check-in (via AA website) for my coming trip. That's for going out of the country. Now the question is what about the flight back to Malaysia? Can I do web check-in as well? Or I have to go to counter (at airport) to check in (on my returning trip)?

Changing dates/flights is always going to be expensive if you're flying with AA.
The only way is to not change your flight.

Maybe if you have a very good reason like a doctor's letter or something to show that you can't fly on that particular day, then maybe they might refund you a part of the ticket cost. But changing dates is always going to be expensive.

@maru
you case can consider rare,
usually the penalty for changing the date is more expensive than the ticket price itself (since your tic 1.3K), so everybody will opt to just buy a whole new ticket.

AA got a lot of profit by people who unable to board on the plane that they bought earlier sweat.gif . that's me

I may have to change my flight departure date. I know from previous posts that I cannot do so if my ticket is a promo rate.

However, from my flight itinerary I cannot tell whether it is a promo rate - it just shows the price.

Also this is my first time trying to change my flight date. Can someone please tell how to go about it? I think it's something to do with "manage my booking" but after that what?

I want to check the cost of changing the flight date and the cost of a new flight.

thanks for any help. Please HELP!

Not like last time, you can do that by login-in & change your flight date but there will be very expensive wth the admin fee & also the differences between your promo rate & also the latest pricing on that date. I was trying to change my Aussie flight last year but the differences were to steep..I will ended up paying xtra RM2K just to change the date!!

promo ticket can change date with fee. just cant change name.

to know promo or no, after click on manage my booking, click on "View" (next to Guest name).
look below - Reservation status : Confirmed - Depart - from to arrived
then u can see "Promo" word.

then, go back and click "Modify" and "Change/Upgrade flights" on the left.

Just login to Manage My Data or something and click on your itineraries.. There might be a bug there bcos sometime you can retrieve & sometime you have to login few times in order to check the itineraries (I dunnio why)..

After you saw your itineraries, just click the modify button..Lotsa thing you can do there..chnage date, change passport number, add food, choose seat, buy insurance & etc too. But you can't change your name.
