I finished the campaign, replaying the brutal/hard mode. (don't wana invest on multiplayer just yet..)
So anyone has any tips on how to get the achievement in the mission "Zero Hour"? It just seems impossible that I have to destroy 4 hatchery with only marines and medics.... |

17/29 on Brutal. GG for the Prophecy Arc. Good luck on that one man. One wrong move and you lose the whole final mission. Think I replayed it 7 times before I managed to win (with all achievements)

Am I the only one that found the ending a bit "short"?
Ok, Kerrigan is human again but then? The "Raynor walks towards the sun while holding Kerrigan in his arms" was okey but damn too short.... Felt a bit "wait? That's all?" Then waited for the huge credits to roll over since Blizz sometimes have extra stuff after them... nothing... Story was alright but a bit disappointed by the ending itself. |

Ok...so I completed the campaign in Normal earlier.
Then redid few missions using that campaign that I missed (the ones where you ahve to take choice). Then decided to use the "New Campaign" to restart on hard to be able to buy new armory stuff, unlock other techs etc Now I cannot go back to my normal campaign at all? it's all gone? I thought we would be able to switch between the different campaigns we have (like in DoW2) |

Well it does looks like starting a new campaign after you finished one erase the previous one and all your time record... it's a pretty retarded thing...
One way I saw to have multiple campaigns at the same time is to keep one save from your previous campaign. This way by reloading it you can access the previous campaign. Pretty bad system from Blizz really in my opinion, DoW2 system would be so much better but I guess it was made this way to avoid multiple people sharing an account to play SP... QUOTE(Al3x0174 @ Jul 30 2010, 05:01 PM) yar, basically looks like you have to keep your latest save for each difficulty campaign, otherwise you are pretty much screwed.Let's say right now I have completed Normal Campaign so I have the last mission victory autosave Then I start a new campaign on Hard and complete the first mission The only way to go back to my normal campaign is loading the last mission autosave. If I do this I got back access to all my normal campaign stuff so can go back to finish other missions (on any difficulty etc.) But you cannot buy new stuff into armory, research and co. BUT at this stage the only way to go back to your Hard campaign is to load the autosave of your hard campaign mission 1.... I really find this system stupid, if you make a mistake and override your saves you are pretty much screwed... Would be good if they can add a system to manage multiple campaign at the same time AND make you go back to the Hyperion once you done with the last mission... I think only a random marine, it's usually duty of surviving soldiers to collect the dog tags of fallen marines to make sure their death is properly recorded in US army (on which SC Terrans are based)
Was to show the "people side" of Raynor I think. At first I thought it was Warfield but you see him after that so no ^^ |

You don't even need to reload your previous save game.
If you completed the campaign, from the main menu just go to "Continue Campaign" under the "single Player" menu, it will bring you back to the whole list of missions and from there you can replay each mission at any level of difficulty you want. Achievements are linked to your profile so they are not dependent of the campaign. Even if you start a new campaign you will see still all the achievements you did in your previous one. |

Okay finally finished it. Chickened on the last mission and tuned it down to Normal. Turns out the difficulty gap is huge, Normal was easy in comparison to Hard.
(I replayed it on Hard like 5 times, always get overrun when the Leviathan shows up. Goddamn thing is resistant to weaponry on Hard). |

Yar, there is really a huge gap between Normal and Hard and then another one to Brutal (On Brutal I found a Siege Tank in the 2nd mission's dominion base......)
I also did Shatter the Sky, Broodlords are quite a big pain in the bottom really and I find land troops to be quite easier to handle than air for terrans for defense, combo of Perdition turrets + bunkers + siege tanks does handle quite well overall with SCVs behind. Broodlords being able to outrange pretty much all your defense would make it harder to micro I think This post has been edited by Gormaz: Aug 1 2010, 08:41 PM |

On Normal, she dies before even reaching my base. (or rather, the core defense of my base, so no chance of using that on me)
But on hard, she literally can blast her way through like 4 bunkers (full), 5 siege tanks, and still have half her life left. Fuuuuuu imba. |

This is way too obvious. Only question is whether Kerrigan becomes good (very likely), or remains the "queen b***h of the universe". |

Yar, it was hinted previously that even after back to "human" form Kerrigan will keep some control on some small part of the Zerg.Zerg xpac will be to power her up back so she can control more and more Zergs. Meanwhile I think Duran will try to steal the rest of the Zerg from her and might be the big Vilain from the 2nd Xpac. 3rd xpacs most probably is the last fight against Xel'Naga. |

Micheal Koiter was a blizzard artist who passed away in 2004.Was to show the "people side" of Raynor I think. At first I thought it was Warfield but you see him after that so no ^^ |

You just burn out the Zerg infestation. You still get to save civilians from being infested in this mission.I can't wait to go back and not save Haven this time. I find Haven's Fall an easier mission compared to the Protoss ones, since Vikings pretty much owns any airborne unit the Zerg put out. (And surprisingly, not many Hydralisks around). |

Both Haven's fall and Safe Haven are easy. I enjoyed Haven's Fall using Ghost operatives to nuke the shit out of all the places. Had 6 Shadow Ops running and just spammed nukes. When minerals ran out, np I moved over to the other base and nuked it then expanded.
Safe Haven, Battlecruisers > all. P.S : Yes, brutal mode. They have no detectors roaming lulz. This post has been edited by ZeratoS: Aug 3 2010, 08:31 PM |

Question on re-playing missions for achievements. I've noticed that upgrades stick, but research doesn't. Example I've got the +2 slots and +1 range to bunker from armory - and these are 'in place' when i play the earlier missions. But I also have the zerg research +extra gun on top, and this one isn't in place on the earlier missions. Is this by design?
[edit] er no it's the other way around. i have the extra gun on bunkers but they can only fit 4 marines. weird. This post has been edited by deodorant: Aug 4 2010, 10:51 PM |

but did not build any predators also lulz. hmmm about the ending, i think jim raynor did not head shot tychus, he just shoot away the rifle. then acturus mengsk rage after see tychus epic failed, then activate the marine suit's kill switch. tychus dying after internal organs fail, then dwarven smith & scientist stenman salvage brain make into robo tychus in zerg campaign. win? Ending screen does show Tychus to be dead, but Blizz is very good are bringing back people who are supposed to be dead, they mastered this skill in WoW (Tempest Keep was merely a stepback...) See how, but I didnt exactly shed some tears for Tychus, the way they showed him did make it hard to like him for anything but a "brawn without brains" kind of stuff. The story where he went to jail to cover up for Raynor was interesting but at the end Raynor did not even hesitate to shoot him to save Kerrigan. Hoes before Bros I guess |

In the campaign higher difficulty also means the enemies get more advanced troops. For example on Brutal on the 2nd mission the enemy camp has one siege tank in siege mode waiting for you... The "Smash and Grab" mission got void rays etc. AI also have production bonus and will spam units much faster. |

Tychus is officially dead for now, the campaign summary says so.
After this it is unknown if it's directly due to Raynor shooting him or Mengsk punishing him for his failure. Blizz "could" bring him back in HotS as they do have a serious case of bringing back "dead" people. As for Kerrigan, it was said before that HotS basically is us powering Kerrigan back so she can control more and more of the Zerg back. Personally I think Duran wanted to re-humanize Kerrigan so he could steal the Zerg from her (impossible from him to take control of the Zerg with Kerrigan as Queen of Blades). See how anyway, long long time before HotS... |

Here's something I extract from Team Liquid to start with: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « If already done the Campaign Achievement, it time to get the Multiplayer achievement... QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Aug 5 2010, 04:11 PM) "Ha ha ha ha, fear me mortals, I am Arthas and I am back, Icrecown citadel was merely a Setback!""But... we saw your soul.. and Bolvar took your helm and became the new Lick King already Arthas..." "..... MERELY A SETBACK!!" I wouldnt even be surprised at any "cleaver plot twist" Blizzard ever bring out anymore... Edit: While it might not ring many for many people I actually just got to know one of the main writer of SC2 single campaign is Andy Chambers who used to work for like 15-20 years for Games Workshop (the creator of the Warhammer/Warhammer 40K universe). He pretty much brought many races like the Necrons, Tyranids and Space Wolfes from stuff only mentioned in the stories to fully playable armies in the tabletop and with full "story". But by himself he was never a great story teller or writer so in my opinion it didnt exactly help SC2 story telling, might have helped with creation of the new units though, that guy has a knack for coming out with new cool stuff. “Tosh.” How Apt.
![]() As I moaned last week, while I’m entirely digging the game design otherwise, I’m finding StarCraft II’s writing a bit of a chore. At times it seems like it was generated by a machine, or perhaps a horse with a Dictaphone. It can be tricky to demonstrate why I have this distaste for the game’s oft-insipid dialogue and characterisation, outside of quoting the flat, tired lines over and over. So I’m going to try and do it through a character study instead: a breakdown of why I’m not satisfied with the approach the game has taken to its chattiest denizens. Let’s talk about Gabriel Tosh: spooky Rastafarian psychic soldier dude. That he’s so appropriately called “Tosh” – well, maybe someone was paying attention after all. Some spoilers follow, and are flagged as such – they’re primarily focused on Tosh, but you’re still advised to steer clear if you’ve not finished the campaign. Kittens mean spoilers. Bears mean spoilers end. Tosh appears early in the game, as a shady character offering to help you out, and goes on to provide the narrative backbone of a subset of missions. As with all of SC2′s thinly-sketched characters, Tosh is described more by his appearance and vocal mannerisms than by what he says or does. He has dreadlocks, he’s a bit mystic, he says “be” instead of “is” – three times within 15 seconds at one point. “This be the moment of truth.” “This be worth a fortune.” Apart from that, the rest of his English is spot on – but apparently he needs a single vocal tic so that we remember he’s Rastafarian. Ah yes: he’s the only non-white member of StarCraft 2′s main cast. (Admittedly, General Warfield’s importance is stated a few times, but his appearances are very fleeting compared to the rest of the plot-relevant characters). It would be petty and strange to complain about this in itself: plenty of other games (and movies) elect to star an entirely or predominantly white cast, after all. I mean Harry Potter, for goodness’ sakes. What I want to go into instead is how trite Tosh’s characterisation is, and how that could be perceived. I do not prescribe any negative intent to Blizzard, apart from possible thoughtlessness. Here are some Tosh-facts: Tosh is presented as sinister, untrustworthy and self-interested – his motives questioned repeatedly by gravel-voiced hero Jim Raynor and all his allies. He has a drug habit, though this may or may not be necessary for his mystic powers. A bunch of his friends are in jail. (Though are all white, however.) He apparently has only two attitudes: stoned-sounding mystic and murderously angry. Oh yes, and he has a Voodoo doll. A voodoo doll. ![]() He even carries it around his neck, in case he needs to do any emergency voodooing at a moment’s notice. No-one else in the game is carrying a voodoo doll. There isn’t any suggestion that anyone else in the game so much as believes in black magic, in fact. Are we supposed to think he’s cool, or think he’s quietly villainous? Omar he ain’t. It gets worse. Unfortunately, however… SPOILERS! In Tosh’s last mission, you’re given the choice to help him or bring him down. Do the former and he lives and remains your buddy, albeit with a little bit of threatened knife-crime first. Do the latter and he threatens Raynor with his voodoo doll – but gets it wrong and hurts the wrong guy. What a silly! Take this path and his narcotics involvement extends to him being a drug-producer and possible dealer. Take this path and Tosh gets killed. And insulted. Repeatedly. It’s not a noble death – it’s a humiliating death, in which he’s first made to look like both an idiot and a hissing pantomime villain, and then sent out with a cruel, cheap stab to the back of the head, before we’re treated to a lingering close-up of his slack-jawed corpse as Raynor celebrates the kill. This savage treatment completely undermines any sense that he’s a heroic character, a misunderstood freedom fighter – as picking the other path for this mission tries to claim he is. The game decides you shouldn’t feel like you’ve made the wrong decision, so removes almost all moral ambiguity about Tosh if you choose to turn on him. He is, as per Hollywood cliche, the first major character in the game to die [Edit - this does depend somewhat on the order in which you play some of the climactic missions.]. And suffice it to say this is not game with a great many speaking-role casualties. So, let’s recap: the game’s only major black character is a witch doctor, is too inept to witch-doctorise properly, is a drug dealer whose friends are in prison, and who (optionally) gets killed. It is hugely important to note that there is a choice as to whether the player treats him as a hero or a villain, but picking the latter means he is then depicted almost unilaterally as thuggish scum who deserves to die. SPOILERS END! Again, I’m not prescribing any motive behind Tosh’s or anyone else’s depiction- the problem is that the sheer weight of cliche laden onto this one character alone is crazy. Perhaps more to the point, he’s just one more growly, semi-magic, exposition-spouting cipher in gaming’s great litany of such supporting characters. Maybe he’s a a light-hearted parody of that, but if so I wouldn’t say that comes across. He doesn’t add up to a fun, surprising or even particularly likeable NPC: he adds up to an exceptionally tired dramatic stereotype. Which is my only argument here – that SC2′s characters are nowhere near well-developed enough to escape cliche. There are (at least) two huge counter-arguments against Tosh being an especially poorly-realised character, and I’m very much aware of both. [Edit - and, as some have correctly observed, a third. Another, hitherto minor black character is promoted from apparent villainhood to much greater importance very, very late in the game.] 1) StarCraft II is far, far, far, far from being the only recent videogame that treats its non-white characters cursorily. I’m not singling it out for that. My point is that big, gloopy spoonfuls of lore and prophecy do not excuse the game’s storytelling weaknesses – of which Tosh is just one example. Given how much time we spend listening to them, I wanted more convincing, more interesting characters. 2) The game willfully embraces stereotype throughout. Its white characters are variously: drunks, criminals, jobsworths, grumpy, nerds or despots… …while the only two female characters with significant speaking-roles are a helpless scientist who immediately falls for Raynor, and his ex-lover Kerrigan, who’s been turned into the queen of all chitinous evil, but still manages to show off her shapely bottom at all times. Oh, you can also factor in that the medics are all (helpless) women if you want. The age-old nurse stereotype, clad in power armour. As is so often the case, this videogame doesn’t seem to treat its female characters with a great deal of respect. So no-one does well out of this, in other words. That may be because the game is shooting for Simpsons-style “if we insult everyone we’re treating them equally” blanket-prejudice, or it may be because aspects of the writing may have not enjoyed as much consideration as they perhaps should have done. If there was more depth and subtlety to StarCraft II’s characterisation, I wouldn’t have spotted Big Bad Voodoo Daddy Tosh and thought “uh-oh.” It’s as simple as that. I’m aware that the game’s deliberately going for Lucasian breadth in its tale of war amongst the stars, but that isn’t excuse enough for characters this shallow and patronising. Yes, it’s an overblown tale about lasers, love and larvae: it’s not The Wire. A little thought can make all the difference, however. Surely the world’s richest game developer can do better than this. if hard mode was 10, I'd rate normal mode as 1. sooooooo different.
last mission, hard mode i reach 98.9% to end up fail. normal mode 1 time finish, no reload. no base breach. Having less enemy air units around means your tanks will have fire initiative on the zerg. Firing from 2 levels higher = they will never see you fire. As for kerrigan, focusing fire on her would be the best option. Banshees + BC combo with a science vessel escort for repairs. SCV's would help too. Depending on which protoss upgrade, (armor or weapons) upgrade those first. I took weapons upgrade, which upgrades all attack speeds. The only way to beat Hard/Brutal easier is to capitalize on your upgrade you've made so far. I did this mission with fully upgraded vikings, which took out air units so much easier with Science Vessel support for repairs. I also researched the mind control beacon to MC zerg units when its capable. Awesome stuff that tower. Don't know which you took, perhaps if you list it down i can recommend which path to take |

my path different.
played whole day, reach final mission also a little worn out. will try again some other time. as for elevation - not much elevation there la. so far successful is to use supply depot spam wall. helps quite a lot in keeping them hordes out. |

Q about playing back old missions.
Example: you either choose safe haven or haven's fall (that girl doctor who has the hots for raynor). i chose safe haven, and got the 3/3 zerg research. then i replay haven's fall, but even after competing, i don't get the 3/3 protoss research. design or bug? cos for example i first play mission X, but only get 1/3 zerg research, i can re-play it at casual and get 3/3 zerg research and I will get the extra 2 research points. |

General Warfield (take out air) - Boring mission but enjoy later... Reason why i say having no flying zerg is better is because you don't have to worry about broodlord coming from the back. Even if you go with Tychus...you still get attacked by land unit, just lower volume. So basically if you choose Tychus, it simply means you have to defend both land & air units. The trick to beat the last mission (All In) on Brutal or hard difficulty is to concentrate all your units in the middle (near the Mercenery building) You only need a couple of things : 1. Siege tank. LOTS OF THEM. Like at least 60% of your population. 2. Lots of marines, please reserve the number until Kerrigan appear. They are basically the bait for Kerrigan to shoot at, instead of letting Kerrigan one-hit-kill all your powerful units (eg. Tanks, Battlecruiser) 3. a few Science Vessel & SCV just to repair the stuff. 4. If you have research the little building that slow down the zerg...the game would be alot easier. |

They burn the shit out of them in no time at all. And you get Perditions quite early in the game as well. When you start the mission, immediately build a tech lab/tech reactor on the Starport they gave you. After it is done, start churning out at least 5 BCs. If possible, build 3 control groups of 5 Battlecruisers and position them at the middle of the map and at your two entrances at the base. When Nydus Worms bust out, send the nearest control group to take care of it before it can even flood your base. When Kerrigan comes, immediately order 2 of the control groups and tell them ALL to Yamato her. |

QUOTE(PrivateJohn @ Aug 7 2010, 12:46 AM) The trick to beat the last mission (All In) on Brutal or hard difficulty is to concentrate all your units in the middle (near the Mercenery building) You only need a couple of things : aight!1. 1. done that earlier. 2. on my later attempts, i notice that marine spam is helpful for less costly decoy, just as you said, and somehow the guns are helpful too. 3. i didn't use. 4. don't have. i thought of huddling together at mercenary area but didn't do so in the end cos the xel'naga artifact left open. QUOTE(radkliler @ Aug 7 2010, 01:13 AM) Banshees are fragile. Add in the fact that once the creep expands, they'll bring foward Spore Crawlers. Battlecruisers are better since they are much more durable and their Yamatos outrange Spore Crawlers. banshees are quite alright, 6 - 8 of them takes down the spores easily. minimal damage. Perdition turrets are useful especially for Zergling rushes. When Kerrigan comes, immediately order 2 of the control groups and tell them ALL to Yamato her. i spend most of my resources on siege tanks. 2 factories spam kau kau. btw thanks guys for the ideas. |

QUOTE(deodorant @ Aug 6 2010, 11:59 PM) Q about playing back old missions. Design. After all, you are supposed to choose one. |

As for doing a new campaign, you restart without any leftover tech/upgrades you had in your other save, it's like when you just installed the game |

QUOTE(PrivateJohn @ Aug 7 2010, 12:46 AM) You guys talking about the last mission right? QFT this. brood lords made me cry so hard D:Tychus (take out land) - Fun mission but suffer later.... Siege tank. You only need Marines and Siege Tanks for the last mission. Stims > Kerrigan honestly and nothing beats downing her in ~10 seconds by bumrushing her with rines.

CoH and DoW2 had like far better voice actors than most of the SC2's one. |

All the game reviews say voice acting good lah, dialogue good lah, makes you feel for the characters lah, etc etc, but I didn't feel that. A lot of the dialogue, especially the 'optional' ones just feel unnatural/forced/static. Like 2 people reading a script.
Anyway I finally managed to finish All In on Hard. Took like 4 tries, and even then also all my defenses kaput liao when the artifact was at 100%. I don't see how brutal will be possible |

How apt" I am fairly disappointed by Blizzard job in the SC2 characters and scripts writing really, it's an accumulation of cliches and the dialogs are pretty weak. I know it's not a RPG but still, I expected better from Blizz and I didnt remember War3 or SC1 to be that bad, in my memory they had bigger twists, character building and "woaw" moments. I enjoyed the SP overall and especially the missions which at least were varied, its more the in-between story which was streched out and hollow in my opinion. Hopefully it's better in HotS or I will be a bit disappointed Blizz. I also agree with Cheeze, DoW2 (Spesh Marheeens arent supposed to be Shakespeares) or CoH (WW2 random joes) managed to put more life in their voice acting without having such charismatic characters as SC2 This post has been edited by Gormaz: Aug 11 2010, 12:13 AM |

I also agree with Cheeze, DoW2 (Spesh Marheeens arent supposed to be Shakespeares) or CoH (WW2 random joes) managed to put more life in their voice acting without having such charismatic characters as SC2 |

The current cast is awful and the characters feel plain and lifeless. Kerrigan reminds me of EDI from ME2,except now, she's the hostile version. Yeah, it's the same actress, but i remembered she sounded different in C&C3.If EA still sucks in the fanboy's eyes, at least EA knows how to make their game's sound effects fantastic. Blizzard on the other hand, clearly has lost some of it's charm from their older games. SC1 sounds awesome, even back in the days with those crappy build in speakers. Even till now, i think SC1 have some really memorable sounds and speech lines like "This is not Warcraft in space" by Artanis. SC2's sound is no where near even to games like C&C3 or DoW. At least a Space Marine sounds convincingly like an overzealous super soldier in DoW, or NOD's Flame Tank guy sounds like crazy guy but SC2's zealot sounds like some generic alien now as the bass-like sound effect isnt there now. Still, no one would really care in the long run if they are playing SC2 competitively, but still, it does ruin the immersion for those who want to enjoy the SP. @Quazacolt: it's not deleted, it's in the thread I linked
@Cheese: yep, I think the graphics guys should get a raise done with the salaries of the script writers. The menus and interface (like in Hyperion) are very well done and lots of small details. But script writing was awful and full of one-liner. It's not SupCom2 bad but it's a bit far from what I expected from Blizz And quite funny your mention of Kerrigan being an evil EDI, true she was quite badly used in mostly 1-2 lines evil sentence "You can't stop me" "You will all die" "Nao I kill j00!" |

I remembered there was so much more for the campaign back then. Seems like they have cut out heaps of it for some reason, like some sort of mini game in the armory. Still, it's not bad, but it does feel underwhelming for a high profile long development game. The menus and interface (like in Hyperion) are very well done and lots of small details. Kerrigan is just full of cliche in SC2. Even EDI is so much more funny than Kerrigan in SC2. I think it's almost as bad as Sup Com 2, SC2 also tried too hard to be funny. |

As to the actors behind the voices, the one i didn't like the most was the high pitched nassal-problem voice of that scientist. i'm not picky on sound-effects, i think overall SC2's sound effects were still good, though just using pretty much the previous one. frankly I'm not expecting something so outstanding cos it is the continuation of SC. i thought the mission things were great but i find it annoying that i had to replay the campaign just to play Lost Viking. lastly, shouldn't this conversation be on the other thread about what we didn't like about SC2? Im happy to heard Probe's original sound in the game, but units like Zealot or HT's new lines does feel a bit lacking compared to original. Especially HT. Overlord's new sound is terrible too, with a guy moaning sound, compared to the original which is great. The lines are bland and mostly are just one liners in the campaign. The explosion sound effects or any other sound effects, are decent. Some of the sounds like the new Siege Tank sound, i think it's great. Still, the sounds in SC2 is no where close to a CoH quality or BFBC2's bass overdone sound effects. SC2's sounds feels like there is not enough bass. The graphics is outstanding, i dont see why the sound effects shouldnt get a huge improvement, as sound is still a part of the immersion of the game. I think, it's more like Blizzard is indeed weak in the sound department, after Starcraft or Diablo. Or Blizzard's competitor have just outdone them by far. |

Man you react a tad too touchily here.... was just discussing the game... which is the purpose of the subforum really.
I like it but like all games it has part you like and parts you do not like I don't really give a crap about what others said or did, I was just posting my own comments or impressions for the game, you shouldnt come down to me like this because others did something right? Guess critics or comments which do not praise SC2 have to be parked into a special topic to not spread their criticism to others, that would be bad really. Won't be posting in "your" subforum anymore until HotS come out I guess, no worries, leaving Zealots together. /Gormaz out |

Quazacolt,
why so serious? people voice out their opinions only, you dun have to go ballistics over them what. regarding the campaign, i think the fastest mission i can grind for tech points for credits is the 2nd zeratul protoss mission. can finish it in 10 minutes on casual. |

Do not stay where she cast the area spell, move as close to her as possible, do not order marines attack her from far, they will block those behind them, just assume your marines are zerglings, move as close, even pass her and then only attack. its ok if you stim pack many times, cause each of her attack will kill 1 of your soldier, so 1 hp or full hp really doesnt matter, just make sure you have to use artifact in this method. usually she dies in 5 seconds and if your timing is good, she cant even see your tanks. then moves your marines back and prepare 2-3 healers, and train back your marines. weapon upgrade helps, armor dont, so dont waste money on armor upgrades. if you are trying to achieve the last achievement which specify, u can only use artifact once for the entire mission in hard. god bless you =P my method wont work, usually something will block the way. and ultralisks seriously good at killing pack of marines, 30 cant last few seconds =P |

QUOTE(climacool @ Aug 12 2010, 10:29 AM) Thx guys...i can handle Kerrigan but the damm elephants, the ultralisks crashing all my marines..I allocate 3 seige tank at entrance + 1 bunker each corner (unable to build once destroyed becoz zerglings too much n blocking my space)... ultralisks its own is very easy to handle with, siege tanks will do, alot of them, why ppl only care about the queen is because she always mess up your defense and allows others to come in, do not use marines against ultralisks they chew them really quick plus your siege tanks will do area damage and it will run into your marines. Should i send my air units to destroy the zerg buildings ? if you unable to stop them, use buildings to stop them, left entrance should be easy few supply depots will do, drop 1 or 2 scv there to repair or incase the supply depot is dead. after putting up supply depots, sell off the bunker and move your marines away, they are useless, put ~10 siege tanks there, do not put siege tank too near to the supply depot, make sure a hydra cant shoot the tank when its just outside of the supply depot and allows SCV to repair supply depots. have 1 or 2 turrets for overlords, then that entrance should be ok d, unless the queen able to reach them. for upper right entrance, put tanks on cliff, both of them, left and right of the entrance, as for the entrance right north of your bunker there, either use supply depot or make barracks elsewhere and land there, ~10 siege tanks there 2. ultralisks have 600hp ? if you did your siege tank upgrade which +40 damage to main target, and 1-2 weapon upgrade, should take out an ultralisks with few shots, basically 1 shot from each tank, so they wont be able to reach your blocking buildings. leave some scv here too. to make this level easy, you should have:- pick scatter the sky mission, where there are no fliers siege tank upgrade both +40 damage to main target and -75% damage to ally area damage air deploy supply depots, which you can make blockings in seconds put 2-3 siege tank INSIDE your base, for worms, they dont have a chance to eject anything. regeneration armor, which slowly repair damage for vehicle and ship |

QUOTE(tales @ Aug 17 2010, 08:14 PM) dont worry nobody can unlock ALL, cause some of them require 1000 win in pvp 1000 in 4v4 1000 in 3v3 1000 in 2v2 1000 in this and that, so you will eventually need years sitting in front of the pc to achieve that and you need partners for years 2. |

those korean pro's lor. don't they play like 12 hours a day? assume one game 20 mins = 3 games/hr = 36 games/day = 864 games a month, so within half a year should get those
but yeah ... the rest of us normal people got no chance |

QUOTE(goldfries @ Aug 18 2010, 03:53 AM) both ways also difficult, the darn thing about air is brood lord + leviathan! i jst park like 20-30 tanks at the lower side (towards the base) of the ledge where the artifact is, and 40-50 marines to standby n welcome sarah when she comes, all the ground units jst got wiped out before they even touch the artifact loli might have to replay the 3rd time to go back to vs nydus, if i want........... IMO leviathan kacau only la. the rest seems quite ok. air unit i have less need to repair / rebuilt structures. |

Just want to report that I finished the game.. on normal thou.. dont have the time and will power to deal with the Hard game setting
I really like that the game give choices of how to tackle the last mission.. kill nydus or kill fliers.. gave me pause to choose which one.. and in the end I choose to kill fliers.. the game is really great.. with an unexpected ending (for me atleast).. kudos Blizzard.. here is waiting for the next installment.. |

i agree that the choices function in the game was awesome...
still, would've been more awesome if it got some sort of impact to the future storyline like mass effect though... |

I got flash back about playing Baldur's Gate because of the atmosphere, the dark cavern, the color pallet.. and I suddenly wish someone would make an RPG with the SC2 engine for me to play with any chance Bioware would go down that path again (Baldur's Gate/Ice Wind Dale/Planetscape Torment) and forget Dragon Age? huhuhu.. |

my earlier attempt i put all at the 3 entrance. works until like 2k plus then got swarmed. lost at 2238 or something........... PLUS b.net disconnected, lucky no achivement.
2nd try smarter a bit. after the archive was accomplished, fall back to higher ground and also spam cannon. i build until nothing else to build. i just didn't like that they keep sending in zealots to occupy my supply. i dowan zealots! |

I don't think the units warped from your allies consume your food count. That's because they are in different color which doesn't applied as your own units.

did brutal on zaratul last mission, seal all 3 entrances with dark templar and hold position, then seek and destroy every single detectors with void rays =P, need to load a few due to no idea where the next detectors shows up and normally all dark templar will be dead if the detector went too close to my base entrance =P after blocking create some colossus and stand far enough, hold position and kill 1 by 1 =), dead when there are plenty of air enemies shows up, no longer able to kill their detectors. anyway, thats far beyond the needed number of kills =)

colossus are great there. with void rays and carriers too.
that mission is good to micro them. for example, get all of it to take down the toughest creature first. you'll see those hybrids die easily. |

i think you mentioned that before. before that i didn't even know about the phoenix capability.
my units for that were primarily colossus and void rays. btw the mission is the best, cos no matter how bad you play you'll still win the game. |

i dont like to use carriers in that mission, due to carriers took up too much unit counts, and 200/200 is easy to reach with carriers

QUOTE(narf03 @ Aug 25 2010, 01:02 PM) that isnt a good idea, we were talking about hard/brutal, with that difficulty and you go afk, very high possibility you cant even reach half of the needed kills. i got almost 3k kills on hard. and yes achievement (lol only normal needed)and i could go more but alas i couldn't cuz my computer was going into powerpoint slides. so go figure if i can still continue to build cannons and micro my phoenixes and colo/carriers (SHOOTING BROODLINGS YOOOOOOOOO) |

(don't wana invest on multiplayer just yet..) upgrade ur weapons in the lab. put equal number of medic with ur marines so they don't burn their energy faster. importantly, put ur medic behind marinesSo anyone has any tips on how to get the achievement in the mission "Zero Hour"? It just seems impossible that I have to destroy 4 hatchery with only marines and medics.... |
