I have to say I am quite frustrated with all the new betas as well and I too do not dare to recommend people to buy N13.

However, for those who already bought it, I have no problem running it using the oldest firmware in klseet website, see my previous post.

Alternatively, peter's tedious method which I am not willing to try..

I am still however hoping that Asus will fixed this anyway and have transmission build to it, or dd-wrt able to do the IPTV....

If you're not using the inbuilt torrent, its a durable router that is surprisingly only warm not hot when left running for a while (good heat dissipation including a heat sink).

However either its USB port (power not suffice?) or torrent software is having problem, more often than not, it will run torrent for 15 minutes or so before hanging up the entire router for me. Using a WD Passport 500GB NTFS USB powered HD. Had to chkdsk and corrected files, delete the software and reinstall before it can work again.

Once in a while, it goes thru, once it does, it will work flawlessly as long as you don't restart it. Gave up on it for now and goes back to torrent using PC when needed. Will wait for any new firmware before trying it again.

Hello All,

Recently just got Asus RT-N66U. Really great router if anyone is doubting.

Streaming on youtube is very smooth, no staggering or doesn't hang halfway when loading videos.

Download master works as stated with latest firmware. Although a little tricky to understand setup steps and what's going on.

Overall very stable with solid performance, provides a very strong signal throughout the house (2.5 Storey).

I was wondering however, if anyone has the step by step guide to configure this router in order to replace the dreaded orange DLINK Unifi one?

If someone can point me to it, appreciate it. Can't wait to get rid of that sore orange thing.

Many thanks in advance.

You've mentioned router working great or so.....then suddenly mention you've not replace this router with the dlink one....I tot you've replace the dlink router only you can access internet?

Anyway, since have not try N66 yet, make sure you've installed the latest firmware from Asus site. Or else just check if you have the same screen as N16 firmware .108. I believe they should be almost the same, at least the basic settings.

Actually for those N13 user, what do you mean by 'hang' internet? You mean the speed of downloading paused suddenly and restart on its own? Or you will need to restart the router everytime?

I do understand that Unifi do throttle the download though.

I never have 'hang internet'. What I experience was that the router hang, ie no internet and IPTV. You cannot even access 192.168.1.1. So I have to switch off and on the router back.

Experience like tokbudu in http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=51526643 is strange to me.

Ic. My router is almost always on all the time, hardly have any interruption even with the 2.0.2.5 f or g firmwares. But gotta admit that I am not a heavy user. It was idle most of the day.

Generally I followed Klseet's recommendation. And I fixed up the ip for all the computers connected to the router ,ie. I set my PC's ip as fix, and in the router, I also assign that IP to that particular PC. That way it has less problem in recognising the device when I restart.

I also use free google DNS , 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4 instead of the given DNS by unifi.

I also port forward a few items to facilitate trouble free downloading.

I also designate priority for different devices in using the internet bandwidth from the router set up. Eg. HTPC I give high priority for bandwidth usage, other's just normal priority. I use my HTPC for torrent you see. And when I use HTPC to watch youtube video, it can go to max download speed.

On top of that, I purchased licence for Video Accelerator for my HTPC and other PC as well for higher speed HD video viewing. One licence can be used for 3 device at home. So that very much sort out the video watching if necessary.

Thats about it. I think its nothing special about it.

Hi,

I just purchase the RT-N56 and the firmware is upgraded to 1.0.1.8f but all my problem is still there.

Problems:
1) Download Master (2.0.3.7) - try to use it to download BT movie file. Download speed is almost near to 0!! I put in 5 BT files and leave it over the night. The next day all the file is still not completed download. (then i try the same BT to test the seed in Flashget, all the file is completed over the night. WHY?

2) Sometimes the 2.4Ghz WIFI is off automatically (the blue light on the router for 2.4 is off but the 5Ghz is still on). No connection at all... need to switch off the router...

3) Internet connection is loss/not stable and not able to get to the google.com & etc., then switch to the original Dlink the intenet is OK, switch back to Asus still cannot.

4) The most important i reported all the above (except no.3) thru the Asus VIP member website. I cant remember how long it already sent but still no reply at all. The router is support the Unifi but the Asus technical support is not supportive at all.......

PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME......

I spend RM400++ but the free TM Dlink is even better...... Ridiculous

Just to share the H version is good so far since May 25, 2012 . my step to be as follow;

1. restore factory default ver F
2. upload ver H
3. restore again factory default (just to make sure)
4. set fixed IP for all known device via MAC address

5 days still up and running. Heavy torrent. IPTV ok. So far ok

Hi there, I'm currently using RT-N15U, I would like to know, is there a way to set a fixed IP address on a user? Like e.g.

I want to set computer A 192.168.1.4, and I want it to stay with that IP, even after I restart PC/modem. I know I can set thru TCP/IP, but is there a way I can lock it using my modem? I could do it with my Zyxel modem, wonder if I could do it to my Asus?
