It's RT-N13U-B1, I have 2 of them.

I have RT-N16. However, after pluging the huawei into the WAN port and setting the RT-N16 as router mode, I am able to setup the FTP. Only problem is, when I tried to setup DDNS to access FTP, DDNS registers the IP address as one of the router local IP instead.

hi all,

I just bought an ASUS RT-N16 from WangsaMaju at RM335, I have flashed the firmware as per bro KLSEET's advice and everything is done proper, my firmware is 9.22.2.37

I can access the IpTv but I cannot access the internet from the router, I followed the instructions as per bro KLSEET's website, what could be the problem ? I have the screen shots of the Router which I can upload smile.gif

I've just tested DDNS function on all the 3 units with latest custom firmware on UniFi:
RT-N13U-B1
RT-N56U
RT-N16

Both ASUS & DynDNS (free) working without any problem. nod.gif

I'm not sure about the standard / non-UniFi firmware, I can't use it either since I only have UniFi line.

Got your email & just replied, likely you've entered the PPPoE user Id & password wrongly, take note it's case sensitive.

recently i bought RT-N13U-B1 for my unifi. flashed to 8.22.2.3.

sometimes wifi can't be connect, but other those who already connected is working fine. Then i need to restart the router for allowing new device to connect to it.

i'm wondering is it too stress to handle 7 wifi device.

as for my old d-link dir615 don't have this kind of problem.

Hi Bro Seet,

Yes, I got my ID and Password from Unifi, I copied and pasted and it works fine now smile.gif thanks alot for the info and the email smile.gif

I followed exactly on the DIY instructions on bro seet's website and everything is working fine smile.gif the only problem was my ID & password was incorrect, once I got that fixed, everything is smooth sailing now.

My internet wireless speed is definitely faster than before, i'm now trying to see what other functions I can capitalize on and make some tweaks.

Just follow exactly on the DIY instructions and things will be fine smile.gif Thank you again bro Seet for making things easy for the rest of us, I owe U one smile.gif

p/s: just to share with everyone the yellow cable provided by TM did not work for me, when I changed the LAN cable to the one provided by ASUS it worked well smile.gif

ok, i just found out that the router hanging issue will only occur if i have my main pc on for a period of time (around 5-6 hours). It's the only other pc connected via LAN to the router. Don't know what is wrong as it is the router freezing up and not the main pc. Other wifi connected laptops are also not able to access the admin menu or go online.

I tested & "tortured" the unit for 2 days, connected about 10~15 devices, mixture of NASs, PCs, laptops, MediaPlayers, xbox360, LED TV, mobile phones, etc ....

No problem for me smile.gif

Actually I like both ! laugh.gif

Apart all other things being equal, I like RT-N56U :
- the design drool.gif
- dual-band

I like RT-N16 :
- strong signal & excellent transfer rate (on 2.4 spectrum) flex.gif
- good ventilation

Both are excellent, surely no regret nod.gif

Just my personal view, you may need to research more base on your requirement+setup+budget.
Whatever the decision, bite the bullet & never look back, enjoy every bit of it ! smile.gif

i just got the RT-N16 to replace the DIR-615 mainly to resolve the dropped wifi issue. followed the guide from bro klseet and got it done soon after. really grateful for his contribution and all those who shared their experience. works fine as of now since morning. my old desktop also got 8~10% signal boost compared with the DIR-615

to bro klseet, (sorry a bit of a noob question): the vlan tagging thing in the unifi firmware is not configurable right? cause I can't find it in the GUI anywhere...as a unifi-home user, the IPTV can only be assigned to port 1? wanted to learn how this work. also, am I right to say a working copy of download master is currently not available for the custom unifi firmware?

@kennji,

Under the WAN setup, scroll to to the bottom, you should see some ISP-specific setting:
Attached Image

Both UniFi & SingTel's exStream vlan tagging has been hard-coded for user ease of selection, whereas the Manual mode is user-definable vlan entry for other vlan-tagged services.

For the RT-N16 custom utility download manager, I've done the preliminary test, still waiting for ASUS team to refine further before releasing, stay tuned for update.

Enjoy your new toy & UniFi ! laugh.gif

Running on Unifi Biz10 so far so good love it my RTN-16U is offline due to no firmware update for Unifi yet . I guess Asus would delay it due to RT-N56U is hot selling due to Unifi support

There is no d/c, re-boot or hang, the device survived on my overnight "torturing"  tongue.gif

And the other unit, which I've configured as AP with FTP sharing only, been running for >10 days without any hang/re-boot.

Since there is no detail provided and I can't simulate the "hang" situation, you may want to self diagnose/trouble-shoot some of the following area :

- did you ever login to change/mess around with the BTU/VDSL2?  (I personally won't play around with it.)
- is the line really stable? did you often encounter interruption on the BTU/VDSL2 side?
(try to use stock to re-confirm this, if yes, contact TM to ensure the line is stable)
- did the flash went well?
- setup correctly?
- what exactly the action/things you did right before the hang?
- when hang, can still access via LAN cable?
... etc ... etc ...

Try to test 1 thing at a time, from basic IPTV, internet, USB .... to nail down the exact area/action right before the hang.

Good luck!

Added on October 4, 2011, 5:20 pmI have five units of RT-N13U at different locations. Out of the five units, two units do occasionally hang up. Once the router hang up, all the computers LAN network are dead (could not ping to others pc which are connected through a 24 ports switch). If the router is power down, all the PC are assessable within the network. Understand that the PC connection will be dead if using the router network port when the router hang, but not causing others PC that attached to another switch also not assessable. This is weird issue.
