I'm having a good time with my Yes service. I usually keep my comments fair and would give credit where its' due.

Only complain is the weak signals indoor(even in landed homes) and it's still not there yet for true mobility in moving vehicles.

As for my speedtest with just moderate/weak signal I could get this kind of speed:

Very happy for the first time such speed is achievable on wireless internet and it even beats my Streamyx fixed line connection.

weak signal indoor....my solution is locate the GO dongle near window and i can get 4 bars near the window.
I don't know whether you can use a USB cable to extend it to window...last time try it on 3G HSPDA modem and it couldn't work.
What i did is cut the USB cable (there are 4 tiny wire inside)
and use 4 parallel coaxial cable, did a bit soldering and this replace that 4 tiny wire. This way i can have a longer USB extension cable and it works perfectly well.

thumbup.gif Wow, wow, wow, from the graph, it definately shows that where YES had coverage, it beat all TELCO GIANTS competitors like Maxis, Dig & U Mobile by a VERY, VERY BIG DIFFERENCE, MORE THAN A FEW THOUSAND PERCENTAGE [%]......well that speaks well for YES indeed. rclxms.gif

It must be YTL building them, kudos if it is!  I have bought the huddle package RM1199 with my iPad and it is the most amazing thing in the world. I now get full value for my iPad and I am streaming movies, downloading e-mails etc on the go, sometimes even fast than my Uni-fi connection at home.  I was annoyed at some problems at the start but Yes is really sorting their act out. In fact I realise that I am actually saving money with Yes!  Kudos soyacincau for your great and impartial article. Blogs like malaysianwireless disgust me with the level of immaturity and personal vendettas. It is nothing compared to your level of journalism. Please keep it up, and keep saying YES!

I will not use YES until there are wimax router available at a reasonable price.
Because with a router, i can put in a hardware firewall.

Without a hardware firewall between the modem and Windows operating system, my computer could infected with Malware/Trojan anytime and become a bot anytime.
Microsoft's article about bots:

Do they send out email or notification when the activation is successfully done? Activated my pre-register number last night about 9pm. How long does it take before I can finally use my account?

Thanks..

Why so obsessed with hardware firewall? Just use any software firewall is more than enough.

beware when activating ur warranty at yes website. when u try to activate ur userid, it will ask u to choose a new userid. when u key in ur old userid, it will says it is in use (obviously!)

if u put it ur new userid, then ur rebate and warranty registration will point to ur new userid. even ur yes life mobile will be using new userid.

emailed yes care but 3 days already still no respond.

Could it be the internal resistance of the USB cable?
Maybe that plus insufficient current from your USB port makes your HSPA dongle unable to work on a usb cable?
Try the same cable on another PC.
Don't bother with the USB port on a laptop.
Often you don't get enough juice from it.

thumbup.gif Brother driftmeister, I am happy for you now that you had decided to opt for YES. rclxms.gif I am sure if you compare the voice rates with other telcos like Maxis, Digi, Celcom [you pay through your nose], it's definately the cheapest rate in whole Malaysia. As for the wireless, it's still very fast & cheap too & you still get the rebates. rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif
