I didn't even play DA2. I merely find your argument that players are a much more credible source for reviews hilarious.

But thanks for generalizing me anyway, I'm sure you are a gaming connoisseur and anything I play is well below your standards.

well yeah i agree with cheese. Cant really trust KGM since they tend to be biased

All reviews are subjected to bias.

Anyone saying otherwise is deluding themselves.

Doesn't matter if its a single person, KGM, IGN, PC Gamer, Gameaxis, all of them are biased.

As a fan of Black Isle / Bioware RPG, I think this DA2 is one step forward and two steps back. As a fan, anyone will agree that I'm biased against DA2. When I played the demo, I was awed. After playing the game, I was disappointed.

DAO had most formulas right, although it can't compete with Baldur's Gate, Planescape Torment or even Neverwinter Nights. DA2 however, did not inherit any of those great games. It's a lovechild of ME and DAO, but it inherited everything bad about them. For once, I felt I do not want to replay a game from Bioware.

I just hope other RPGs coming this year would be better.

Calling names wont make you any smarter.

Yeah, i think believing what players feel is the best way to gauge how good is the game. Sure there are times that it isnt true, but most of the time, it gives a very good indication. Getting a 3.0 to 4.0 across 3 platforms for a Bioware game, doesnt it tells you that something is terribly wrong or it just tells you that players from all 3 platforms just want to troll around for fun?

If not, are you suggesting that everyone should buy every single game out there to try them out? Maybe you could, but im sure a lot cant.

Bias? Getting such a huge difference between the media and player's reviews, i dont think that is called bias. It seems like there are also something called money involved, where EA is paying those reviewer to give good reviews, despite it's a piece of crap. I like EA, especially Richetello took over, but this is just way way way too much in exploiting a potential franchise.

Im starting to find your arrogance even more hilarious, just like some people of your gang, extremely arrogant, childish and stubborn.

Yea, i know you guys will be bashing me again in your lovely chatroom.

It is sad to see Bioware pulling off a stunt like this, as it just show everyone that, they just want your money, rather than building an innovative brand new experience. I think DA2 would be great if DA2 is given, say 6 to 12 months more time to develop.

I dont think there is anything to do with lack of budget, as DA:O did very well in terms of sales.

To be honest, i only liked the combat in the demo, as it's faster and more action based, but hated the horrible camera, the environments and generally how the game looks like.

Sigh, this game runs like ass on a Nvidia GPU (using Beta drivers).

Looks like I gotta wait till Nvidia release a proper driver or Bioware patch this game.

mayb in da0 u feel like u're waiting for something big to happen, but here i feel like playing 'catch'...run here to solve quest, done. next run to another place, solve quest, done. not a story driven game. hope da3 will be better. this is called action-rpg, not rpg.

I've seen better "action RPG" - namely The Witcher - Enhanced Edition.

Played DA2 throughout my weekends. Agree with all that this is not as big n huge as DAO. Without comparing it with DAO, i say i am enjoying DA2. If compare the game with DAO, I would say most of the RPG elements have been stripped out from DA2 n it has become more toward an action game.

If u expect DA2 is bigger n more epic than DAO, than u r wrong. If u buy it with that expectation, u will disappoint like hell.

Saying that, i'm looking forward to what DA2 modders will do with the game..

This is my take on Dragon Age:

Bioware probably were trying to tell a Medieval Star Wars – Flemeth = Emporer Palpatine.

Dragon Age episode one (appropriately named dragon age origins) wasn't ground breaking, but it revealed the backstory, history and the land just like Phantom Menance. There was a major force challenging peace – an overarcing plot that determine the pace of the story. The story ends with the defeat of the main boss in a full scale war.

Dragon Age episode two is like Attack of the Clones. So much political agendas and just like Star Wars Clone Wars series, I expect a hell lot of DLC/comics/books to bridge the gap between number 2 and number 3 because both stories (DA2 & AotC) were rushed. The Chantry asking for help would actually be the “expansion” when in fact, it should be part of the original game.

Dragon Age episode three would be just like Revenge of the Sith. The Champion would turn to the dark side just like Anakin. Maybe we would be playing Luke/Leia and in a land, far far away, Morrigan & Hero of Feralden – the Grey Warden's child would rise to be Han Solo.

Then, Dragon Age 4, 5 & 6 would be given to either Obsidian or Bethesda. Yeah... My ranting proves how much I'm disappointed by DA2...

After everything said and done, it is still a disappointment for those who have played DAO.
You can't deny that.

Definitely too average from Bioware, a company that many of us have put our faith into.

Enjoyable for just playing casually, but nothing immersive or influential.
A disappointing 6.5/10 from a company that brings us 9/10 games from most of their titles.

Just finished the game not long ago, dammit. I can only express disappointment. The storyline was nowhere near continuing what happened in DAO. For a game that sets ten years it was pretty short. I was expecting an epic battle at the end. Guess I was wrong...

If people say it's not as good as ME2 != they hate it. Look DA2 is not their best game. Without a doubt. And I'm not really expecting anything constructive from you because you haven't played the game. But I'd much prefer if this thread focused on DA2. And not this game SUCCKS! or is CRAP! that's very constructive(not).

Maybe I should just continue working on my review than to expect constructive discussions in a forum.

yes I agree. The camera is atrocious. But stop playing it like DAO. Not going to elaborate much but the camera is a major obstacle for you if you want to play it like DAO.

1) it doesn't zoom out like DAO
2) You have to manually move the camera around many times. If you character is up against a wall it gets f'ed up
3) They want you to play in third person perspective and run around the battlefield. The camera is just not made for top down tactical battles.

agree with you fully
while i kind of disliked the game, but its still much fun
there are lots to complain about the items, character build, storyline, bugs, etc but all in all it deserves a 7-8/10 because of unique changes (the experiments of which i believe may see some implementation in an anticipated sequel to the grey warden's adventure)

i've played lots of rpg back in the days but i never really fathom how games like baldur's gate, elder scrolls, heroes of might and magic, and planescape torment could actually receive good reviews because i hated those games (even when i replayed these games now, i dont think i'll like it)

of course we have fallout series, oblivion (the only elder scrolls game i think worth mentioning) and underrated games like arcanum and septerra core, i think comparing DA2 to baldur's gate etc is just plain unfair because DA2 is much better
smile.gif

DA2 has its downsides but it is far from being a BAD game
i enjoyed playing it though not as much as origins nor mass effect 1 or 2
but the fact that most of you finished the game and took the effort to even replay it means there's at least some enjoyment there
