I tend to believe on what players themselves say. If the whole internet say something awful about it, i think thats true. On the other hand, reviews are completely untrustable anyway.

The screenshots and videos just tell me more than i shouldnt even think about getting this.

The demo is pretty fun, but it doesnt feel like DA at all.

mass effect with sword. its fun, but, its not what i wanted to play in a dragon age game.

also, it feels kinda short and shallow. dragon age lite or an expansion.

It's not even at the level of ME2. Some people may not like the wholesome changes in ME2, but it some ways it was a massive improvement. And most importantly, the same story driven of epic proportion was brought forward in ME2. The same can't be said about DA2, did DAO need a new dumb down mechanic ? No. Did it need a new graphic update ? Not really. I think msot of us were even surprised at how soon Bioware decided to release a sequel. You're right, it did feels more like a DLC to me. Take away the graphics update and the dumb down mechanic, and it could've easily sell off as a dlc for DAO. I actually felt that the entire DA2 could've been the back story for Duncan - even the hero looks and talks like Duncan.

You know, what i am gonna do is: Buy Witcher 2 on release. It has probably won in terms of role playing and story than all other RPGs in 2011. Just hope it's not as buggy as the first one, which also worries me a lot.

DA2, i'll wait for Ultimate Edition, as i know Bioware will try to cramp it with more DLC again.

Yup, just wait for the Gold Edition, buying it at its state is like tossing money and your time into toilet. Something i know Black ops has done. rolleyes.gif

DA2 feels kinda rushed. Now I know why its only 5 GB compared to DA:O's enormous 10 GB. Initially, I thought the geniuses at Bioware had competently compressed all the supposed awesomeness into a small package haha.

I truly miss DA:O's myriad and distinct locations (e.g. Orzammar, Redcliffe village, Denerim). In DA2, I keep going back to the same places no thanks to the whole game taking place in one location which kinda reminds me of Oblivion's identical caves and dungeons.

As for combat, what's up with respawning foes. After killing a group of bandits, another group appears out of nowhere lol. Furthermore, players were given the freedom to customize companions' apparels in DA:O but its now restricted to Hawke alone. Moreover, the camera is atrocious. I'd like to lynch the person who decided to change the camera perspective to strictly 3rd person. No wonder Flemeth didn't even bother to fly to Kirkwall, it seriously stinks.

I will end my rant by presenting a picture of Bethany cheekily trying to grab Fenris' testicles in the Chantry haha. Maker's breath!

The wave of mobs appearing from thin air is due to increased of the action pace i reckon. Stuff die too easily, so they felt the need to have waves of mobs to extend the duration of the combat.

PS: Haha love how Varric caught glimpse of the groping thinking "hmmm sexytimes".

Why all the hate? As much as it's not the best Bioware release ever, I still found it enjoyable after ignoring everything that wasn't DAO(aside from the repeated dungeons). I may be a sucker for easy gameplay but DA2 certainly filled in the boxes, it's not as clunky as DAO. Combat was also more fluid and not as stiff. Granted, the storyline isn't as immersive as DAO but I felt as if every choice I made could make a difference(a key issue).

All I'm wondering now is when's the next release because I know they've left it deliberately with an open ending.

Well to be fair, DA2 does have its merits. They've toned down the mage's crowd control and nuke spells a couple of notches to make the class less of a juggernaut of destruction and made the warrior a lot more powerful rather than just a useless sponge soaking up damage. Combat is faster and bloody satisfying albeit somewhat easier (playing on hard difficulty btw).

I like Bethany tongue.gif so a sibling as a companion is a breath of fresh air. There's relatively more emotional attachment this time around. Furthermore, Varric is nice to have around because he's certainly very competent in bullshitting his way through in conversations haha. Damn scoundrel heh.

ME2 seems worse at the beginning, because they removed some of the RPG element. However, in return, Bioware gave a great story, supported by a great party members. Not to forget the awesome revamped combat. Lastly, no more Mako at all. Losing one aspect, but gaining a lot in others, doesnt even sound bad at all. It is a huge step up from the original, as it is proved that Bioware does listen what players like and dont like from the first game.

DA2, they didnt even try to improve the game, other than making combat fun, while stripping everything else.

It is average, but certainly not up to Bioware's usual standard.

TBH I always thought Witcher was kinda overrated.

And the E3 demo of Witcher 2 ripped off ME2's force field scene rofl.

IMO, Witcher is great because it has a very strong branching system in the story, where the decisions you made can influence things 5 hours later. Thats the beauty of the game, where none of the Bioware games manage to do so.

The first game, in some way, is still much better than DA:O or ME2, but my favourite among all of them is still ME2.

Just my 2 cents over here on the buy or not buy.

Buy IF:
- Not really a big fan of Dragon Age: Origin.
- Prefer shorter game due to not much times to spare.
- Like to know the game story and so on instead of trying out every item, every armor, every stats or class combination.
- No take off clothes xxx scene (U) ??
- Like control only the protagonist only. (ignore most things of other party member.)
- Not a western RPG old school player.

Don't Buy IF:
- You dislike more than 2 of above mentions.

Meh... you'll swap out the Blood Dragon armor for other armor sets later on anyway.

And you can use the armor sets UNLESS you play a warrior or mage(staff of parthalan). Otherwise, with a Rogue the only thing you can use is Hindsight.

Newsflash Genius

I didn't even play DA2. I merely find your argument that players are a much more credible source for reviews hilarious.

But thanks for generalizing me anyway, I'm sure you are a gaming connoisseur and anything I play is well below your standards.
