My current contract with digi just expired. Am happy with digi but this new u promotion is pretty tempting as it's so cheap. And i read that u's bb is pretty fast. How is the speeds during peak time? probably around 8-12pm. Is the u bb stable? even though digi only has 700kbps average, it's quite stable and that is what makes me wanna stay with digi.

Um 's speed fluctuate greatly depending on time and day. In my area (PJ), usually during working hours I can get 1-2.5mbps after offices hours i get anywhere btw 0.5 to 1.5mbps. I find Um connection to be most unstable after midnights for some reason, maybe maintenance or watnot... Idk. I personally find Digi having a more stable connection... thanks to it higher upload speed whereas Umobile has only a 0.05mbps UL which slow down website request and increases loading time if u are loading a lot of things. For light suffer, Um is just fine if u are using within the coverage.

Thanks for the insight bro. I didn't know that the upload speeds effects website browsing. Now you mentioned it, i think i'll stick with digi as i do alot of website browsing.

Who says?

My DiGi E1550 and CSL certainly can't authenticate with Umobile although it works with my Nokia N97 phone.

anyone aware bout the new package that umobile launched? not so new la. just revised the old package

on u40 after exceed data capped additional data usage will be charged. not sure they capped the monthly until wht. if im not mistaken around rm160 or sumtin

and u68 will be unlimited wif no extra charges if exceeded monthly quota

there it goes my plan to subscribe u40 on my prepaid with a huge expectations to leech the umobile bandwidth to d max tongue.gif

2 things u need to ensure the modem works ANY service providers:

1) modem MUST be unlocked. if locked, your modem wont work on ANY OTHER service providers except the one you subscribed with.

2) create a new profile with the correct network settings for umobile broadband.

if your current dashboard is setup to DiGi, using umobile wont work at all (cant authenticate).

what most ppl do is to create different profile for different providers. Reason? see table above.

btw, CSL works on umobile -------- http://www.u.com.my/faqs/3g-modem-configurations or http://www.u.com.my/sites/default/files/UB...fig_CSLU1tf.pdf

actually it is the SAME plans as before. just throw in the modem and distribute the rebates for the RM68+100 across 5 months (so the monthly payable is lowered, but you already paid upfront in the first place).

ub40/ub68 data usage, capping, and charges after exceeding quota remains the same too.

About Usage FAQ #1: http://www.u.com.my/faqs/u-broadband-general

all plans with quota will have charges of rm0.01/kb (PAYU - Pay As You Use) rate AFTER you have used up all the quota. Maximum chargeable is RM176 per month.

ub68 is "unlimited" = no extra charges after reaching the FUP quota, BUT speed will be throttled.

if want to be safe, use ub68. ppl here are sucking more than the FUP (5GB) to about 10-20GB.
