QUOTE(Andy214 @ Aug 5 2010, 11:24 AM) Most video recording phone doesn't have auto-focus or focus function when recording, even most of the PnS camera outthere can't do it. thanks for the tips, is really help However, there is one app call "iFocus" (I think) which allows you to adjust the focus manually during video recording. Previously I did install it, but it seems buggy and they implemented something on the proximity sensor, so it's annoying with the menu keep popping up. Learn some photography technique. You can focus on something else, lock the focus, then move back at the object you want to capture. With this technique, you can take many wonderful pictures, even those that you can't focus due to lighting or the lense unable to focus that particular object. You can focus something easier to focus (even near), lock it, the shift back to the object you want to capture. As for 3rd party camera app, there is BlessN900... and finally, the most powerful of all, fCAM. fCAM is what I have been asking for, manual focus, manual controls. It's like having a profesional camera already! I wonder if there's any other smartphone have such powerful camera app. |

QUOTE(Gouki @ Aug 5 2010, 02:29 PM) thats what we call "recompose" your shot~ and its a big no no in photography~ Is a technique if you don't have manual control over focus and/or the auto-focus cannot focus on the object. So, it's an alternative way. If done correctly, the shot looks the same, it's not noticeable.http://www.mhohner.de/recompose.php I've seen many professional photographers use this technique during photoshoot, it's a quick way rather than adjusting manually and useful in certain situations. EDIT: I read the article, it says the user blame the camera. It's as if the user do not intend to do it. Well, if you intend to use this technique, you wouldn't blame the camera, you blame yourself. Beside, the article also doesn't sound right, it depends on the purpose of using this technique and what you want to achieve. The article is talking about general shot and people who use it without knowing what they want thus facing issues. Usually, when I use this technique, I was my object to appear sharp and focus and the background is blur or out of focus, it looks great; It's like Macro settings but you macro settings have limitation, with this technique, you can achieve further. As I said, it's a technique and alternative option to achieve certain capabilities which is limited by the camera. This post has been edited by Andy214: Aug 5 2010, 03:00 PM |

In fact, some camera phone will lock the exposure as well
But Nokia should add in metering mode to the camera software like sony ericsson |

QUOTE(jananan @ Aug 5 2010, 03:08 PM) i have been using this since the first focus capable smartphone from nokia based on symbian ages ago... On DSLRs, IINM recomposing is a no no because it might:its basic focus lock... in fact any camera, digicam, SLR also can do it... 1) Screw with focus 2) Screw with metering (if you're not on full manual anyway) 3) Screw with composition On a phone camera, with crap focusing ability anyway, it's more of a necessity lol. I've been doing it to get great bokeh (blur background) pics on my W810i for ages. AND it's a PHONE CAM for Gods sakes, you don't expect pin sharp 100% blowups on it anyway, though manual everything gives you an edge in terms of creative expression freedom - an edge not many other cam phones can boast. AT LEAST the N900's not the purple monstrosity I have stuck on the back of my E71 (which, with the cramped, low-res screen, is my only few real gripes with the device). Which reminds me, I need to get a Spotmatic with a working light meter. My M42 lens collection's crying for some love edi - it's been a year since I totally gave up serious photograpy (if they're not fungus-ridden by now). I tried the mod transition.ini
Now it is so smooth, the background is not blurred like the original one in menu. Anyone knows any better transition? edit: ok i got it fixed, i edited the transition.ini myself This post has been edited by chicaman: Aug 5 2010, 07:28 PM |

QUOTE(super_evil_alien @ Aug 5 2010, 12:00 PM) Haven't used Pidgin for a while since it's easier to use the build in IM. i know the chat logs location~ question is~ i dunno how to access them and delete them~ Will try to find out the location folder of the logs later. GSM,GPS & few other things are inter related.Once GSM is enabled we'll be closer to fully functional Android. It's currently in extras I think. So you need to enablr "extra" repo. |
