even it is LCD like HD2,
is it really that bad that could make buyers to forget about all the other improvements and new tech in Desire HD?
is screen really such a big matter?
*
if u have seen AMOLED/Super AMOLED,etc that better than normal LCD then it will be different thing..
is not really big matter but its all about the beautiful of the screen that u can look with ur eyes...
and it would be nice if this 4.3" screen fit with at least SLCD...
u can see that many other latest phone using many kinds of LCD technology(even iphone and nokia(not sure which 1 de))

u will know why when u try compare normal LCD with galaxy s(Super AMOLED)

EDIT: LCD is like a trend now...last time people look for CPU and RAM but now they look for screen too...

Agree. Since the screen is the main interaction of us to the phone. Screen is a very important factor. nod.gif

well ask yourself: if the DHD turns out to be only SLED will you still buy it?

Personally i rather be having a screen that works best under the sun. I cant even remember how many time i was under the sun and cant read my phone. Take the iphone 4 for example, IPS LCD that most ppl use for colour accuracy... I do not remotely know why I would do photo editing (where colour accuracy is the most crucial requirement) on an iphone.

if only i have money and willing to sacrifice super amoled from my galaxy s then why not??
seriously its kinda hard to "downgrade" the beautiful screen like super amoled to LCD..
its like u having a nice graphic card but u downgrade to lousy graphic card...

honestly, i got no problem using my phone under the sunlight and heck, do you always use ur phone under the sunlight?
at least i still can make a call/read sms when im walking on the street under the bright sunlight.
but not sure about AMOLED...

and don't tell me u can read or see the things clearly in the screen under direct sunlight

Super Amoled -> SLCD not much of a drop smile.gif

Of course you'll loose the color vibrancy/contrast, but you gain in color accuracy
You'll loose in side angle view, but gain in vertical
And depends, if you watch movie alot you might loose in battery life, but if you surf sites alot, you'll gain battery life
Oh and you'll gain in sharpness, since the SLCD doesnt use the pentile matrix layout

edit: if its TFT, then that of course is a different story. so cross your fingers the DHD has SLCD!

I read some review of SLCD vs. AMOLED vs. SAMOLED. Just seems like u win some and lose some with one another. My preference would be for battery life and under bright light use - but thats just my preference biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Read someone did a benchmark and scored roughly ~55fps on neocore... About the same score as Galaxy S... Which is quite good smile.gif
Holy crap! 56FPS is really smooth. But the thing about SGS is compatibility with some games. A number of games does not support SGS at the moment. Powerful GPU, bad game support. The only thing keeping me from buying this beast is it lack physical keyboard and of course, money. So, anybody with a kind heart and deep pocket wanna buy me one? Hahaha.

Owh yea, SLCD and AMOLED is pretty much on the same level. They reviewed SLCD of Nokia N8 and AMOLED of Iphone 4 on Stuff September, verdict, not much difference. So you guys can drop the arguements.

Here it stated that its using SLCD.

http://www.letmedefine.com/htc-desire-hd/

A few other websites also stated that its using SLCD. And if I'm not mistaken, HTC is making a move to use SLCD on all of its future devices due to the AMOLED shortage.

If you read through this thread then you will know the argument is not SLCD or AMOLED, some website even saying it is TFT LCD screen, because there is no 4.3in SLCD in the market.

No 4.3 doesn't mean there's won't be any 4.3" around right?

Can only hope it is SLCD. Even if it still TFT, most probably I will still get it too.

So..DHD will be the first 4.3" SLCD? or another HD2 or EVO (both use 4.3" TFT)

from the video around the internet, it's clear Desire HD has the worse color than the Desire Z.

it's either the HD is using SLCD vs Z with Amoled / Super Amoled,

or

HD is using TFT vs Z using SLCD

or

it's a camera trick!!

Anyway, it's clear that the Z is using SLCD, so there left option 2 and 3 only.. laugh.gif

Yeah the ONLY official confirmation that DHD has Super LCD was on its HTC Desire HD - A Closer Look official video which was posted by HTC on their Youtube page.

Mysteriously, they have now private the video. There could be a posibility that there is fact mistakes in that video (Just like how it was mentioned 3.6" for Desire Z in the HTC Desire Z - A Closer Look official video) which they are trying to rectify now. Hopefully it isnt the Super LCD.

If it's TFT screen, I'll tell my friends to get Samsung Galaxy S.

My HTC Legend (Amoled) and HD2 (TFT) side by side, HD2 lose kau2.
