Guru3D's review was leaked.

pros:
6850>GTX 460 1GB (stock clockspeeds, not sure oc vs oc results)
6870 slightly beats GTX 470
Juniper-like power requirements for 6850, similar to gtx460 for 6870
new AA mode to be introduced in catalyst 10.12
6850 overclocks to 950MHz

cons:
3d gaming sucks, need third party software
6870 overclocking sucks (~950MHz oc too)

Also, Nvidia has a GTX 580 under wraps

Could be a bad chip. But then again considering their 6850 also hit similar max clockspeeds I'd guess the chip being maxed out is more likely.

It's good to hear that Radeon HD6850 and Radeon HD6870 is out performing GeForce GTX460 and GTX470 respectively.

I am more interested on GeForce GTX580 by now.

i always respect this..

Measured power consumption - 6850

1. Advertised TDP = 150W
2. System in IDLE = 173W
3. System Wattage with GPU in FULL Stress = 295W
4. Difference (GPU load) = 122 W
5. Add average IDLE wattage ~ 19W
6. Subjective measured GPU power consumption = ~ 141 Watts

Measured power consumption - 6870

1. Advertised TDP = 127W
2. System in IDLE = 176W
3. System Wattage with GPU in FULL Stress = 278W
4. Difference (GPU load) = 102 W
5. Add average IDLE wattage ~ 19W
6. Subjective obtained GPU power consumption = ~ 121 Watts

6870 is lower.. that's weird..

i think typo.. the above should 6870..

and again about this..
Here is Guru3D's power supply recommendation:

* Radeon HD 6850 - On your average system the card requires you to have a 450 Watt power supply unit.
* Radeon HD 6870 - On your average system the card requires you to have a 500 Watt power supply unit.

All shops in LYP will be selling Radeon HD6800-Series GPU sooner or later.

Radeon HD6870 consumes less power than Radeon HD6850 because it has a better chip. It's more like Radeon HD6850 is actually a failed chip that's why it needs extra power.
Similar evidence,
Radeon HD5830 is produced using failed chips from Radeon HD5870. That's why it's consuming a lot of power while have lower performance(lame). But, the price is cheaper of course.

I think Radeon HD6870 is same length as Radeon HD5850 while Radeon HD6850 is same length with Radeon HD5770. hmm.gif

6870 is a beefed up optimized 5770 that is designed to be cheaper than GTX 460 to make and yet performs faster.
