Low end GPUs are already being phased out. Nvidia's lowest end Fermi is a 96 shader chip, for example.

Anyway HardOCP says the big drop will be the GTX470. Given the leaked performance of the 6870 puts it a whisker over the 5850, I think Nvidia will drop the price to similar levels (RM800?). Probably to clear stock and shift the other chips for Quadro/Tesla use. After all, they could in theory offer a full GF104 at ~800MHz to fight the 6870.

Many people didn't read the bart is actually a midrange card..

If that is the case, i wonder whats goin to happen to other mid end cards. Going even more cheaper. Now,evryone can crossfire...

5770 and 5750 finally got the right price but i think even for 799 5850 will not be popular as 6870 beats it and under 800 rm.

Haha, i think dual 5870 should be able to beat 6970. Just my two cents, I so hope to get 6970, but the price should be sky rocket. Can't afford to buy it anymore, Waiting for 7000 series 28nm .. hehehe

in term of performance CF 5series should be better..
but i donno u guys want to play what with that setup..
since the reso also already enough for average monitors..

if ready for the next future games.. by the time.. the new gpus coming and continuously single gpu setup is enough..
invest so much without fully utilize it..

unless alot of games really need that processing power..
